I was waiting in line to get my interview letter for about two months from 12/16/13 to 2/14/14, I received an email and text that my letter is in its way, and this point I have not gotten, so something there is a long wait for them to send you the letter.

I am also from Nicaragua, I would like to ask you, do you think I am going to have problem with my name since my mother last name disappeared here and my passport show two last name, and my driver license and green card show one last name (father)?

I want to ask you about you said, she file out a court order to change your name, can you do this before go to the interview? and if you can, what you can do?

I just got back from my interview. Wow I don't think I waited even 10 minutes. They called me right away!! The lady that interviewed me was nice and we went straight to the questions after she looked at my ID and green card. After that she had me read out loud "How many senators are there?" and then I had to write down "There are 100 senators".

I'm trying to remember the 6 questions she asked me but I can't remember them all. I know she asked:

1. What is the name of the national anthem? - Star spangled banner
2. What is the rule of law? - Everybody must follow the law
3. What ocean is on the west coast? - Pacific
4. How old do you have to be to vote? - 18
5. Why are there 13 stripes on the flag? - 13 original colonies

I'm missing one that I can't remember right now.

We went through my file and she checked everything. I had brought a copy of our new lease (actually the original) and she made a copy of that. She also made a copy of my passport, I know I had sent it before but they must have lost it.

The only thing I'm worried about is one thing the examiner did. My Nicaraguan passport has my full name, the thing is that according to Nicaraguan (and majority of Latino countries) law or customs the married name of a woman has "de" in the middle. So let's say you're Sofia Perez and you marry John Smith, you then become Sofia Perez de Smith. So that's what my passport says. However, when I came to the U.S. my green card was issued following the American way, so it says Sofia Smith. Now the examiner said that my file still shows my name the Nicaraguan way, so she filled out a court order to change my name to just Sofia Smith... even though my Green Card and ID already show it as Sofia Smith.

I don't know if that's going to delay anything, but at least the hard part is over. I asked if the oath would be at the same office and she said I have to go to hall because of my name change....she said I'd have to wait between 2-4 weeks.

Is it possible to get interview date before anniversary date?

I received an email on 12/12/13 saying my Biometric Letter had been sent, I went to ASC Office on 12/12/12 I spoke with the manager about my flight and she print out the letter and let me do the biometrics the same day, it took me like 10-15 minutes the whole thing. Now I can go on vacations without any problem. By the way I have not received the biometric letter in mail yet.

Check online to see when they change your status to Biometrics letter sent. It took only a few days for me to receive it after they mailed it. Mine was mailed on 11/22 and I received it 11/26. So I received on last Tuesday and my biometrics appointment date is this Thursday. Week and two days apart. From the date they mailed it it's exactly two weeks to the biometrics appointment. They mailed the biometrics appointment letter one week and one day after they received my package. So 3 weeks from receiving of the package to the date of biometrics appointment.

When you receive your biometrics letter, then you can attempt an early walk in. You should probably see the biometrics letter early next week. When you receive it you can send in for rescheduling since based on the dates you've already booked your travel, it's a good chance the biometrics appointment is during that time.

PS. remember to give the dates of your trip to the officer at your interview...

Question? USPS delivered the package on 11/27/2013, why USCIS sais they received on 12/29/2013?

Please, please I need you help me to figure out how long does take between NOA1 to actually get Biometric Letter in your mail, I need to know this since I going walk in as soon as I get the letter because I am going out of the country????

11/26/2013: Eligibility Date (3 Years Base on Vawa)

11/25/2013: Sent Package Overnight via USPS

11/27/2013: USPS delivered package at 10:00 am

??/??/2013: USPS Money order cashed (how can I check if my USPS money order was cashed?)

12/03/2013: Received text and email, from USCIS, my case was receipt

I bought airplanes tickets to go to my home country from 12/16/2013-12/21/2014 and I would like to make my Bio-metrics before I leave, I called National Benefits Customer Services and they said that in the event I have to leave and my Bio-metric Appointment is not here before I leave, I can always do it when I combat. Any one has any experience about this?

I am also thinking to wait to get my NOA1 to call Customer Service to see if they can rush the Bio-metric Appointment?

Can I go to the Bio-metric Appointment without the Appointment Letter?

I filed my I-360 Petition for Amerasian, Widower, or Special Immigrant VAWA case with USCIS on June 11, 2007 and I finally got my approval on September 8, 2010 (I waited three years and three months for my approval), then I filed my I-485 on October 12, 2010 (more than 4 months ago) and I have not received my green card yet. I went to the interview on 2/11/2011 and the officer told me they need more evidence, wich I already submit on 2/16/2011, but what I don't like is the paper that the officer gave me, it says "After sumitting your documents, you may inquire about your case no sooner than 180 days after the date of this notice or the time period indicated only by making an InfoPass appointment through www.USCIS.gov.

So, besides the 3 plus years I waiting for my VAWA Case, more than 4 months already waiting for my I-485, I would have to wait 6 more months, I do not think that is fair.

What can I do in order to expedite my case.

Oh I forgot to tell you that I did everthing to satisfy with the conditions in reference to my DUI, like I paid the fines, I did caltrans, I finish my school, I finish my probation time on 4/27/2010, so I did everthing on time and manner and I always appears on court to face my mistake.

The only crime that I have in my life is DUI, I was arrested for driving under the influence on 2/22/2007, I was in jail for 12 hours on that day, but I went to court on 4/27/2007 and the court gave me 36 hours of jail that I have to do it on 5/11/2007, because I had a credit of 12 hours so I only did 24 hours on 5/11/2007. My Department of Justice in California record shows two times in jail because the DUI (2/22/2007 and 5/11/2007 for the same thing in VAN NUYS CA), but in the interview the FBI report shows two DUI's the first arrest in 2/22/2007 in VAN NUYS and other arrest on 5/11/2007 for the remaining time of 24 hours but IN ANOTHER CITY (NORWALK CA) and under another case number.

I have never been in the city of NORWALK and it is not possible that I can have a DUI the date of 5/11/2007 because on that day I was surrunder in jail in VAN NUYS CA for the same DUI in february 2007.

I went to the interwiew today to LA Immigration office, the IO askes me if I have done any crime, I say yes because I have a DUI, but when she was looking at my FBI report, she told me I have two DUI (this is not true, I have one), so FBI report says that I was convicted on 2/22/07 and then 5/11/07, the second date it is the same date I was surrender by the court, but the court was in VAN NUYS CA and the FBI report says I was arrested for DUI on that day (5/11/07) for DUI in a city call NORWALK CA, but it is not true because that day I was surrender in VAN NUYS COURT for 3 days, I would like to know if anybody have had this kind of experience what happens. After that IOrequired more documentation from me (NORWALK CLEARANCE) and then I have to send that via mail and wait for another 4 months (I do not think this is fair, becuase I already wait for a lot of time).

hello everyone. i am hoping for some words of advice. i am a victim of domestic abuse and just had my vawa interview to remove my conditions. it went horribly wrong. i had the same IO my wife and i had last year for the regular interview. he asked what happened and i told him. i also stated that i was worried about my immigration status and he said that i did not mention this last year during the interview and that looked like fraud for him. my lawyer and i could not believe it. because i said that i was worried about my "status" he said this is fraudulant. WHY in the hell would I try to have my conditions removed when i was NOT worried? isn't everyone? i have a ton of e-mails where my wife threatened me to to seriously hurt me and get me deported and divorce me so that i get deported. i have a clinical psychologist write an affidavit of support in regards to my condition, photos of scratches across my body that my wife did, notes that my wife wrote stating that if i would come back into the house she would call the cops on me, and, and, and. i am pretty sure that my case will be denied and i am horrified. i'm a good person and have never done anything wrong. this guy said it was his first abuse case, so how can he know what the requirements are? he didn't even study my file at all. just looked through it as my lawyer and i were sitting there! she had to tell him to look for the threatening e-mails she sent me, he didn't even know they were in my file. i'm horrofied! i guess my question is, what can I do if my petition is denied? i cannot believe this. all the ####### i had to go through with my wife, this guy slapped me in the face like she did so many times. belitteling me and basically saying that i'm a lier and am not an honest person. this guy is a grumpy old guy that ruins other people's life because he has none. i'm just so at a loss, that my petition will probably be denied. that IS the reason why victims of abuse do NOT come forward because of guys like he is. i feel even more embarrased and ashamed because i'm a man and this guy just slapped me in the face big time. if any of you had a similar experience or knows what more i can do, i would appreciate it. the anxiety i'm going through right now is beyond belief. i find it ridiciolous that people like this IO screw your life up when they have NO clue what they are doing. thank you all.

I am a men with a Vawa Approved, my case was pending for 3 years and 3 months until its approval, I was trough one denial and appeal. My case was back on Vermont and Vermont finally approved my case. Thanks God.

On 10/4/10 my lawyer sent I-485, I-765 to Vermont, on 10/12/10 Vermont received them (I called customer services because I have never gotten a receipt letter), I can see online says on 10/18/10 they mailed me a notice (what can I do to get this notice?), on 11/2/10 my lawyer call me because she has the biometrics appointment letter, I was suppost to have my biometrics done in Van Nuys Office on 11/23/2010, but I decide to go on 11/2/10 (early walk in), I went to the Wilshire ASC office in Los Angeles instead the one in Van Nuys and they just did my biometrics (can I have any problems because I went to another office and another day?).
