  1. Hi guys,

I just moved to the states two weeks ago on my k-1 and got married last week.

I am completing my aos papers and wondered if I need to get an ssn BEFORE doing my paperwork.

Or is it okay to type it n/a every time the forms ask for my ssn?

sorry about all the questions tonight.

just trying to get all my stuff in order.

    thanks guys!

  2. I am applying for my AOS and was wondering if I should fill out form i-131.

I know its optional but what is the advantage of filling it out now as opposed to later, when I need it.

It is basically advanced parole if there is an emergency that I can re-enter the states, right?

So you guys fill that out with your i-485 or only when you need it?

Also, if we do it now, it costs the same as filling it out later?

  3. What are the new fees???

Agree with the first two posters. It's ok to copy and paste the information, but make sure you're using the latest USCIS version (you only need one G-325A for this application, not 4) and the information you're putting is consistent with what you put previously (the only obvious change is that you are now married and if you are female, that your old name appears on the space provided for Other Names Used).

Good luck with this leg of the journey! May want to hurry though...new fees kick in starting November 23rd. You want to get your applications in (for AOS + EAD + AP).

  4. My POE at Dorval is tomorrow.

I appreciate everyone's help on visajourney!

Anyone activated their K-1 visa at Dorval recently?

    Any advice?

Im going about 4 hours ahead of time.

Taking the brown envelope, the medical envelope and my passport.

Anything else I need to remember?

  7. I have been refreshing DHL, CSC and my email for two weeks straight now.

I would have liked to leave yesterday, but oh well....

    that is truly bizarre

    you checked DHL ???

Don't worry about being in AP, i highly doubt that you are.

Remain positive, it will come :)

  8. I just read this on the csc website:

Occasionally applications will require additional administrative processing, which may delay the adjudication of a visa. In the event that administrative processing is required, the letter will also be marked 221(g) and additional instructions will be given.

Since I only received the paper that says "congratulations" and that my visa is approved and NOT the 221 (g) paper, I do not think I am in AP.

Not sure why its taking this long though

You can go into AP after being 'approved' at the interview. Someone on the Canadian forum has had this happen recently, they received their visa about a month after their interview.

You should call Department of State at 202-663-1225, they can tell you what the latest is regarding your visa - if you're in AP, if it has been printed, sent, etc.

  9. no I still havent received it...

I had to cancel my flight. Thankfully, the airline gave me credit.

Hi there - we are now dealing with the same issue. Did you eventually get your package in time?

Our interview was a full week ago (Oct 25th). It is now Nov 1st and still no update on the DHL site when we put in the reference number.

Is there a wide range of timeframes for these things to get processed and posted?

  10. had mine on the 19th and still no passport...

Hi everyone, I had my interview for K1 Visa in Montreal on Oct 22nd and signed up for DHL but still have not seen any tracking number. I called the number that is listed on the website and they said Montreal has not shipped yet as once they ship it will list on website. DHL has not called me either and I called DHL and they said without a tracking number they can't do a search but that if the package arrives at the DHL depot that someone will call from DHL when it is ready for pickup. The lady that interviewed me at the Consulate gave me a letter and it says it can take 10 days. Anyone out there in the same boat? Please reply.

  11. oh, sorry...

    I misread

Did you DCF? I thought you were a K-1?

Domicile is something only people who go the DCF route need to worry about. Individuals who file DCF petitions are living in Canada with their Canadian SO's and need to prove continued residential ties to the US and/or the intent to reestablish those ties. If your American SO lives in the US and filled the petition from the US, it does not apply.

Choles- Not that I know a lot about Domicile, but that looks like some pretty solid evidence. I wish you luck! :)

  12. All I had was a photocopy front/back of drivers license,

utility and bank statement with address

I think you have MORE than enough!

    Good luck!

    Hi everyone,

We have read through the pinned domicile post, all 150 or so posts, searched for every other domicile post on this forum and read all that too, so what we've gathered is based on everything we could learn from VJ. Still, if anyone can give some feedback to us, we'd really appreciate it. We've got less than 2 weeks to go and are getting nervous since most of our proofs don't fit into the traditional obvious domicile proofs.

    Here's what we have:

    • Lease agreement - but it's with my parents, should we say we'll be living with family till we get adjusted, or is it sufficient to just show it as a lease agreement?

    • Shipping quote from ABF/UPack - it's a little email print out, anyone recommend using any other service instead?

    • Bank statements from US account and wire transfer showing fund transfer from Canada to US

    • Credit card statements

    • Professional license

    • Child care registration confirmation letter and canceled check of registration fee

    • Ticket purchase confirmation and trip itinerary

    • Car insurance quote

    • Driver’s license

    • Voter registration card - but it's 10 years old...is there even any point in taking it?

Is this enough? Any other ideas for us???

We'd appreciate all and any help! Thank you!

  13. Medisys in montreal has a male doctor but all he checked was lungs

he did ask to unbutton my pants, did not pull them down, simply pressed down on my stomach

My fiancée has scheduled her interview at Montreal for late January. For her medical exam, she wishes to be examined by a female doctor. Does anyone who has had their medical done in either Toronto or Montreal know if a female doctor may be requested for the medical?

  14. i just called that number

    he said its still pending

    but everything looks okay

he said you should expect a call to pick it up within the next couple of weeks

how come it takes so long???

and how come some people got it in 4 days?

this means its approved for sure?

    im worried....

  15. they never told me about other stuff to bring in

but they said to wait for my visa at dhl

Hello, you don't have to worry until you're certain of the approval or denial, for Egypt here they would tell you the same day of the interview that they approved you and they will send you the passport with all the other stuff that you're gonna carry with you in the port of entry to the US ?

Have they told you that ?

  16. Hello,

My method is DHL. They did not give me a tracking number and when I enter my reference ID (from the canada.usvisa-info.com site into the dhl.ca site, it says: no record found for this reference number.

Im not sure what number to call, in found this one on that same site: 514.400.2591

and have called a few times. they did not give me any additional info that i did not know. they said as long as its not processed, they cant help me...

    do you have another number?

im not sure how late to move my flight...i want to leave asap :(

about the congress person, im not even sure where to start with that

    im just so worried!

    thanks for the reply

Well, I would think that if you were either denied or needed to send in more documents that they would have told you at the interview. If the interviewer said 'you're visa is approved', then it should be approved...

What was your shipment method? DHL? Xpresspost? Do you have a tracking number? Did you check online to see what it says?

I know that they have a new thing going with DHL, but when I got my visa, it was with Xpress post, and it took around 10 days to get your visa back...

Have you tried calling DOS to see what they have to say?

It might not be a bad idea to get your congress person involved to get things moving... Your visa could be sitting on someone's desk, or something like that...

Good luck, and try to be proactive with this so you don't go completely insane... Call DOS today, and if the answer is not satisfying, get the congress person involved right away...

    Good luck!

Oh, and you might want to consider moving your flight to a later date just in case...

  17. Hello,

to those who had their visa denied

do they tell you right there at the interview?

or do you find out later?

I was told mine was approved...but havent received it yet

    its been over a week

i had my interview in montreal, and i live in montreal

im quite worried because i have already booked my flight to the us for this sunday :(

Im starting to think something has gone wrong
