  1. If Materazzi indeed called him dirty terrorist then he should step up and say it, so the right measures can be take to establish the right punishment for him as well. Honestly, and take my word for it, the guy is indeed so ignorant I wouldn't be surprised he truly doesn't know what a terrorist is. :help:

Then again no foul words, no matter how nasty, justify a wild act such as a headbutt.

  2. And where was all this outrage yesterday in the thread that said Zidane was given player of the tournament about how he stunk and needed deodorant? I found that more offensive because he was being attacked as an individual.

oh I saw it but I am done arguing with that girl about italian soccer. we've had our go...

Just so you know I never considered our conversations as arguments. (F)

Expressing disgust about him getting awarded has nothing to do with Italian soccer, believe it or not I was just as disgusted when Totti spitted in the face of a Danish player at Euro 2004, and never ever have I blamed it on the other guy for being a provoker, or think he was less guilty. If you are a man and you have class you ignore cheap provoking remarks, if you can't keep your cool you automatically turn into the bad guy who's wrong. So no excuse for Totti's bad reaction then, no excuse for Zidane's either.

About the joke...I am not the one who implied he stinks, I simply joked about how much he sweats, as in quantity...I was actually trying to lighten up the bad joke, my bad...I guess my attempt didn't work. I wasn't trying to attack anyone personally, I thought it actually showed.

Edited to add: I have been trying to fix the #### quotes but I don't seem to make it right... :crying::lol:

    And now...back to topic (F)

  5. Well when it rains it pours.

Was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes last Friday, and after doing a 24 hour urine test, I have now been diagnosed with Pre-eclampsia :(

I had it with my last pregnancy as well.......it's nasty stuff and I was hoping I wouldn't get it again, but knew my odds were much greater with my history.

The only bright side is my Dr has taken me out of work as of yesterday, so I can relax and collect disability .....

I am 33 weeks now, hoping to make it to ast least 35 weeks and then I'll relax a bit more.

Aaawww Kiki hugs for you (F) Hang in there, you are far along enough to be not too far from a "safe" stage for the baby to be born. I was developing pre-eclampsia as well, very very mild, but it started in my 41st week so they induced me right away since my baby was overdue already..what sucked was the damned magnesium that made me so sick during labour (you probably already know, but it just makes you feel like you got a bad flu) and because of that they would not let me get out of bed at all...on top of that, add 30(yes..T-H-I-R-T-Y :help: )nice hours before I delivered, but that had nothing to do with he pre-eclampsia it was more because my little one seemed to enjoy my belly too much and had no intention whatsoever to come out yet

I am sure you will be fine, there is plenty they can do to keep pre-eclampsia under control these days so that it doesn't get bad for you or your baby. It will be fine I promise (F) I have a friend in my homecountry who has been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and she just merely entered her 22nd week...that is indeed scary considering how early her pregnancy is.

But don't you worry, some babies have good chances even if born at the stage you're at already, but let's keep our fingers crossed anyway that you'll carry the baby for a bit longer. Once again it will be fine! :star:

Also congrats to all the newly discovered pregnancies and the new mommys, the old ones too though...the pics of every baby in this thread are absolutely gorgeous...looks like different nationalities mixed together make really beautiful babies!! (L) Thanks for sharing! Here is one of my little angel(not so little..he is already 17 pounds and wears size 9 months already :P ) who turned 4 months on july 8th. Tomorrow he actually has his 4 month well baby appointment + second set of shots...and my heart is already breaking at the thought of how bad he is going to scream...I know it's silly, but I just wish I could get the shots instead of him... :( But it has to be done so...

Zinedine Zidane & the Three Headed Monster

    Posted by David Romanelli

on Mon, Jul 10, 2006, 12:10 pm PDT Post a Comment

“Lust, anger and greed, these three are the soul-destroying gates of hell.” -Bhagavad Gita

If you were one of the billion people who watched Sunday’s World Cup final, you saw French superstar Zinedine Zidane struck by an affliction to which no human can claim immunity: ANGER. Many soccer experts, aficionados, and critics agree that Zidane is soccer’s greatest player of the last 20 years. Pele, the Brazilian legend, refers to Zidane as Maestro. Zidane’s proven skill and leadership already lifted France to the 1998 World Cup championship. But in Sunday’s final with the whole world watching and for a reason nobody understands, the French legend angrily headbutted an Italian player in the chest leading to Zidane’s subsequent red card and ejection. France went on to lose in a penalty kick shootout… Zidane’s specialty.

This is a lesson the yogis have passed down for thousands of years. No matter their talent, strength, or determination, every single human being is susceptible to anger, lust, and greed. To live out the depth of one’s purpose, he must develop the skills to overcome this three-headed monster. Zidane faced the monster and sorely lacked what the The Dalai Lama referred to as the rarest form of human strength: the ability to maintain an open heart in a moment of extreme anger.

Here are some techniques to develop this rare form of strength and cope with anger:

Make a habit of taking that oh so difficult first step away from the situation, person, email or phone call that incites your wrath. Walk the other direction, turn off your phone, shut down your computer. It’s always worth it.

“If you are patient in 1 moment of anger you will avoid 100 days of sorrow.” -Zen proverb

Kill ‘em with kindness. Tell the person who pisses you off how much you love them. Tell the person who drives you nuts how much you appreciate their testing your “strength.” Tell the person who makes you crazy that no matter how mad, you won’t pull a “Zidane.”

“As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.” –Albert Schweitzer

Open your heart…literally. The yogis believe that even a basic backbend opens the heart evoking love. Be your own hero next time you face the three-headed monster. Take a step back, interlace your hands behind your back, let the chest and heart protrude slightly forward, and take a few deep breaths. This will instantly open the heart and dissipate anger.

  7. My mom just called...the bus with the team has been trying to reach the Circo Massimo downtown Rome since 6:30 pm Italy time more or less, it is now 10:20 pm over there and still they can barely move for all the people in the streets!!! They said at the Circo Massimo alone there are over 500.000 people waiting on them, plus all the other ones throughout the city. They were supposed to reach downtown so that they could have this live show on TV with them, but it seems like it won't happen for how congested the whole place is. The top of the bus is open and the players are all out there greeting the crowd, they have been escorted from the airport with the typical scooters, bikes, cars and people walking. My family said it is absolutely delirious and the most beautiful thing ever seen, even more than the last time in 1982...mymom said there are so many flags everywhere you cannot even see people at all!! Oh man, my skin is bumping! I just wish I could be there... :crying:

    P.S.

Looks like Gattuso's head was totally shaved on the airplane ride  Funny fact about Gattuso: he was interviewed yesterday and he said he was so anxious and nervous about the final he fell asleep at 7 am since he had to use the bathroom 28 times!!! He said it was so bad he ended up to put an ice cube you-know-where... :help::lol::lol:

Anyways here's a shot of Rome earlier today...

Nevermind the attachment...I don't seem to be able to make it work... :crying: Maybe later

:) Yes,amaizing atmosphere in Roma, they do a lot of coverage here in Romania about it...we very much connected with Italy (there are lots of Italians doing business here in Romania, the most numerous investors here ,and there are Romanian players nel Calcio as you know and so on ...not to talk about our history together,Romania is latin country too,the Romanian language very much similar to Italian,so yeah,we have special feelings for Italy(not sure about their feelings for us tho :P ).For me it`s even more special since I`ve worked with Italians for 12 years, and furthermore they are my best friends,I learned a lot from them, and I learned what kind of people Italian really are.So yes,I have no words to describe the emotions!

I am sorry you coudn`t be there Alexil! And I cannot help to not congratulate you for your little angel (F)

Thank you so much, your support is so amazing (F) I know a couple of Romanians who live in Italy -there are very very many-my dad's friend married this really sweet Romanian lady. I always enjoyed my time with them, her son and I almost dated too... Then he had to leave to go back to Romania and we kinda left it at that  I also have to say that I love the way Romanian sounds, I studied foreign languages and the sound of it totally amazes me...it is sexy and so beautiful. I never visited the country but I definately plan on doing it once we move back to Italy, it is a little hard from the US :P

    Forza Italia again!! (L)

:D Congrats Italy!!! Great game, and great penalty shots!

    :dance::dance::dance:

    And thank you too :star:

Looks like we finally learned how to kick these damned PKs huh?

  8. Guys, in my opinion, it’s supposed that if Italy didn’t have penalty, I still would not believe that Australia could pass the match. Why? Because as far as I know this is the first time for Australian team to come back this World Game after so many years ago they were disappeared, so let’s say they are newcomers here, while Italy are really big team (you can look back the history at least in last two World Cup which was hold in France and Japan-Korea), all Italian football players are good ones, and if there were no penalty for Italy, it’s not likely Australia would win, they have less experience than Italy.

Ok you want to go back on history. Ok you know that this is the frist time Italy won PK's going into that match their record was 0-3. Now how can you say they were the more experince team vs. aussieland that it was a automantic win for them if it went to PK's?

Remember also if Germany would of held out for a couple more minutes then Italy would of not been world champs. So as I see it, it was denstin for Italy to win this world cup. a lot of things went in Italy's favor but if it was the other way around, they would of not been world champs.

    Yogi

Yes and there is always a chance that hell freezes over.... :P

  9. The game of football is a game of passion. It is a game that people really do give their all. Eric Cantona and Zidane and many of the truly GREAT players have had a temper. I have a temper. I am also for the most part very calm. The problem is that when under stress and strain and during such moments of intense passion people do react, whenever people react under intense conditions there is a chance of an over reaction. All sport (at least all sports worth watching) have this element. It is a big part of the game`s fire. I do not condone actions but words are actions too. As for Cantona the fan he kicke dhad ran down 20 flights of steps to shout abuse at Cantona. He of course didn`t think Cnatona would do anything. Well i totally condone not taking ###### from people, sure it is "better" to avoid violence and after the passion and intensity has died down Zidane and Cantona probably regret their actions(at least partly).

Judging them for it is rather ugly to me. It was just a one mad moment in a career of greatness.

It is still not nearly as ugly as their actions, just my opinion of course. When you are a public person and you reach certain levels you should exercise self control even more...1 billion people were watching the game live yesterday. As for Zidane, his career had way more than just ONE mad moment...

  10. I believe Zidane reacted similarly many years ago when a Saudi player made fun of his origins too.

His other head butt I was referring to was actually in a Juventus (his former Italian club) Champions League game in 2000 against Kientz from Hamburg, he got suspended 5 games that time.

The Saudi Arabia guy incident wasn't a head butt, I think he either stomped or kicked the guy in the back or something, can't remember too well right now.

  11. Racism and violence are nothing new to the 'beautiful game'. Shame it had to happen at the World Cup though...

    Sadly true... :(

I guess the Italian team doesn't sweat either, huh?:lol::lol:

Oh they do and I am sure it doesn't smell like roses, but I always wondered if there is something wrong with Zidane..the man totally drips, even in the winter time :help::lol:

  12. Supposedly other well-place football sources say it was about his mother - we don't know what was said until Zidane and/or Materazzi confirm it

i heard he accused zidane of using deoderant :P

Looking at how bad the man sweats I hope for everyone around him that he uses PLENTY of it...deodorant that is :help::lol:

  13. I am positive Materazzi must have said something bad to him, Zidane played in Italy for a long time so he understands Italian perfectly. BTW whatever it was that Materazzi told him, nothing could ever justify a reaction such as that. If you get offended, be a man and ignore the moron or offend him back if you really must. Then again he is not new to stuff like this, this is actually the second time he head butt another player...he's disgusting.

  14. 15. Good luck Karen in Napoli. I can't wait to hear the good news. I wonder if anyone will come to work with all the partying that I am sure went on their last night Best wishes and post soon!!

 In Milan they did...but they are all in a coma because no one slept at all last night!! BTW what sucks is that there were some deaths during the celebrations that kinda spoiled things a bit... :(

Okay, so my fiance' had his medical appointment! He got there at 8AM and was out by 1PM, which isn't so bad, considering that there were lots of people waiting today. They made him get two more vaccines and gave him the sealed envelope to bring tomorrow. They also told him that they might issue the visa right there while he waits, so... :D !!!! I hope so! Has that happened to anyone here (getting the visa issued immediately)?

I went to Naples for my medical/interview (it was all in one day back then) a long time ago (april 2004), but they did issue the visa in my passport the very same day, I think all the others in here got it the same day as well but they will correct me if I am wrong. Let us know how it goes! (F)

Forza Italia!!!!!!!! Yeah, we won!!!!! That was a great game...I don't know much about soccer, but I really enjoyed it. We've had our flag up since the beginning of the world cup. Our neighbor had his Brazilian flag up...and had to take it down!!!!:dance::dance:

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

  16. good lord people.i never said I wanted Australia to win - I am not dumb. I don't like the Italian soccer team...no HATE involved...just not a fan - why am I not entitled to that opinion?

It has nothing to do with AUstralia really - I have NEVER liked Italy's soccer team. Been playing/watching soccer my whole life...and NEVER been a fan.

It does sound like it has a lot to do with the Australia game though, then again we might all be wrong because it's hard to tell on a forum, you can't really see people face to face. You are entitled to your opinion, no one here denyed you that, but don't say others take things personally because they dare to disagree with you and converse about it. If you choose to be sarcastic then expect an answer most of the times, especially in a forum. No one is trying to make you a fan (where did that come from anyway?), besides there were NO comments about Italy, you brought that up-AGAIN- I was talking about Zidane and my comments were still about what he did and not Italy, once again you didn't get what I meant, I guess my English is very bad when I try to explain myself. Bear with me, in the end I am not an English native speaker. When I wrote I GIVE UP I meant that if someone ceases to see the difference in seriousness between diving and a headbutt then I don't really have anything else to tell them about it. MY opinion, MY choice of behaviour to stop talking about it with them. I am disgusted someone gets an award after performing (twice now in his career too+a bunch of other nice fouls...) an act such as Zidane's, no matter how stellar they might have played the whole tournament. To me to get the award for best player in a World Cup has to be about skills and character as well. I would have told what I told you to anyone else, but I must admit, and please do not take this the wrong way again, you of all people really and genuinely surprised me, considering the fact you said how much honor in sport means to you. Everyone despised what he did and wrote about it but you, you almost excused it or at least it sounded that way. What Zidane did isn't just a shame on the sports level, it is even more on the personal one. Simply disgusting. I thought the world agreed about it. I was wrong.

And now please let's stop misunderstanding each other (F)

    P.S.

This all has to be read with a gigantic smiley if you know what I mean
