when i called, immigration told me there was nothing i had to do, however, i was told that i needed to make the appointment and that in order to do that i needed eliexer's passport number. he does not have his passport yet, however. i was just down there in jan. i wish i had recieved my noa2 prior. there is so much mis-information, it seems and i'm not sure what i need to do ??? i will definately be there for the interview. ugh, what a wait.

If you haven't already, first call National Visa Center at 606-334-0700, and get your NEW case number that starts with HAV. You definitely need to have this, and then yes you do need his passport to schedule the interview. I had the same difficulty, because I read on another site that you shouldn't even think of this until the I-129F Petition is approved.
