  1. After living 4 years in the US but before my husband applied for US citizenship, we decided to spend some time in my husband's home country for the following reasons: we had our second child and wanted to stay home with both children while they are young and it is much less expensive in his home country, his grandmother's health is very poor and we wanted to spend time with her and with his family in general and we wanted our children to feel a strong connection to his come country and learn the language.

We didn't intend for him to stay longer than 6 months and we didn't know about the form to fill out before leaving the US.

Now, we want to go back to the US and worry that he won't be allowed to enter because he was out of the US 9 months while on a Green Card.

We are most likely driving. Do you think that they will let him back into the US?

    Thank you!

  2. We considered doing the ASC and medical on the same day but decided against it. It turned out that my fiancé would have had time for both. The only tricky thing would have been that he had to pick up his medical information at 2 pm, the same time as his ASC appointment. We ended up doing medical on Monday and ASC on Tuesday and the interview on Wednesday.

We are crazy busy packing for our move to the States next week. (We live together in Mexico.) We'll write about our experience as soon as we can. Is there interest in having a version in Spanish? I know that it was difficult for us because my Spanish is much better than his English so I ended up translating a lot of what I read here. That added a lot of stress for me. I would have liked to have had information available in Spanish. Does anyone else feel that way?

  3. I stumbled across CDJ-402, which states:

"I hereby certify that I am legally free to marry and intent to marry __________________"

Then there is a spot for a signature and a consulate signature and stamp.

This doesn't have be filled out by me before he goes? Does it????? I don't think that it does and have never heard of this form before finding it in the huge pile of papers that I have printed for my fiancé's visa. Has anyone else heard of the CDJ-402?

I am so worried about forgetting to put something in his packet.

Right now, the only thing that we have notarized is an affidavit of support from our co-sponsor.

    Thanks a million!

  4. Also, I see that Matt flew back the day of the interview. I'm thinking about buying a changeable ticket with Aeromexico for 7 pm the day of my fiancé's interview. Thoughts?

Monday - arrive to Juarez at 7:40 am (on Vivaaerobus), medical at 10:00 am

Tuesday - ACS at 2 pm (medical could be done at 6 am if Monday wasn't possible)

Wednesday - interview at 7:15 am, flight to Mexico City at 7 pm

We are also considering arriving arriving on Sunday to not rush to get to the medical appointment, but the less time in Juarez, the better.

    Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

  5. What are people's thoughts on arriving on Vivaaerobus at 7:40 am and heading right over to do the medical? Our other option is him arriving the day before. I've read that you need to arrive between 6 am and 11 pm. Can he show up for his medical with a small backpack and important papers? Or, should everything except the invitation letter and his "cartilla" be left at the hotel?

I'd love to hear thoughts on travel from Mexico City to Juarez.

One week until my fiancé's interview! Hip hip hurray!

  6. I have read that originals aren't necessary for the I-134 but I am just so worried that something is going to go wrong - like a new policy or a grumpy consulate officer.

Am I really crazy for having my mother send him all original documents for the I-134? She also has a notarized affidavit of support. Shouldn't that be original?

"Overkill" is my middle name in all areas of my life. I'm a teacher and you should see my lesson plans. :-S

Thaiv, I hope that your fiancé gets the visa tomorrow. Congratulations in advance.

  7. So....my fiancé's packet 3 arrived to his address in Oaxaca and not to my US address (at least yet). He will do his medical exam on Monday, ASC on Tuesday and have his interview on Wednesday. I am worried about doing the ASC and Interview back to back but they couldn't offer them to us with a day between and the man on the phone promised that it would be okay. I hope so......

  8. My fiancé's mother just called to say that a document arrived to her house (that is on a little dirt road, hardly has water service and whose mail service is usually horrible). Could it be packet 3? She's bringing it over this afternoon (I live with my fiancé and our daughter in Oaxaca). Is it possible that packet 3 made if from El Paso to small town Oaxaca before arriving in Nevada?????

To complicate things further, my fiancé has been offered a small role in a movie here in Oaxaca. Trying to schedule the interview around filming will be challenging. I already have my airline ticket for May 11th and I don't want to be in the US alone with our daughter. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Is it possible for my finacé to receive important documents from my mother, who is our co-sponsor, in Juarez? I bet that I could have them delivered to the hotel. If we can schedule his interview for next week, he can go to Juarez before filming starts. Fingers crossed.

  9. Juarez just got our petition but they "can't" tell us when they exactly received it. They're also telling me the same thing they told Katwood about the beneficiary being the only one that receives the invitation letter. I hate how they keep giving the same consistently wrong info.

We were told that we could "download" packet 3 if it didn't come in a certain amount of time. Were you that too? We're not sure where to "download" packet 3...craziness...we'll call again today. My fiancé will never get it if it is only mailed to his house. They barely have running water, so mail service is horrible!

  10. Does anyone know if calling the DHL office will help know if the visa is there? I know calling the consulate help-line and looking online does not usually help.

Was Friday a holiday? I bet that slowed your visa. I hope that you get it today! To answer your question, I can't imagine that calling would help much, but it can't hurt - at least they might be on the look out for your name. Good luck!

We are hoping to receive packet 3 today or tomorrow.

  11. We actually called several times to inquire about various things and each time I explained to the representative that I was trying to schedule the appointments before the letter arrived. Each time the person said "fine" until we actually called to schedule the appointment.

I'm sure like everyone, we are trying to juggle life around this appointment and the sooner we get it scheduled the sooner we can plan other things around it. I feel that we are scheduling it far enough in advance (over a month after they mailed packet 3) that getting packet 3 in time won't be a problem.

    Maybe we'll call back today.

  12. DS-260 submitted - Hurray! Fee paid - Yippee!

But, they won't let us schedule the interview until we have packet 3 in our hands. Boo! It was mailed 9 days ago and we want to make the interview for mid-May. We're worried that the slots will fill up for the time that we want to go.

I thought that I read that others had scheduled the interview before packet 3 arrived by mail. Hmmm... Maybe we just got the wrong person.

  13. Hurray, Packet 3 is in the mail so we are trying to figure out how to fill out the forms (and what forms to fill out) and how to pay the fee and schedule the appointments.

I just read that the DS-260 is for I-130 visas. But K1-ers should fill it out too? Right?

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5164.html

  14. I just called the 7034392313 number and asked if they will send me a copy of Packet 3 in the US and the said "no"! I'm quite worried because my fiance's mail service is very bad. I was counting on it being sent to my US address and DHL-ing it to him for his interview. He will NEVER receive Packet 3 if it is only sent to his Mexican address.

I've seen that others have received a copy in the US. I'm really hoping that the person answering my question was mistaken, though he did go ask his supervisor.

Has anyone else heard that they are no longer sending copies of Packet 3 to the US?????? :-(
