  1. I'm glad to hear you finally got your interview date! I know how you feel, what a relief it was to finally know when our interview would be.

Well we had our interview yesterday, and my husband was approved! The lady who interviewed us was very nice and made us laugh at times. She did ask us a few questions but the interview wasn't very long. She basically asked where and how we met, when did we talk about getting married, how many times did my husband visit the U.S., and how many times did I go to Finland. She looked at some of our photos where we did some traveling and looked at what we had for our evidence of relationship. I was a little nervous while we were waiting for our interview but once we were called I didn't feel nervous at all anymore. Glad that is over with now. We don't have to deal with USCIS for a while. :P

    Congratulations!!!

  2. WOW! Congrats!

I can't believe there are still some January filers still waiting for AOS interviews. The entire March filers group (with the exception of my wife and one other person) have had their GCs in hand for a few weeks now. I'm getting ready to contact our Congressman since tomorrow makes 5 months...

Omg, talk about having multiple near-heart attack experiences:

    1) My wife and I relocated to California over a month ago to be closer to her family. We had no jobs secured, so we were worried that USCIS would comment on this if we did not have anything lined up prior to our meeting.

    2) Our AOS interview letter was luckily forwarded to the address we were currently staying at in Cali, and scheduled for September 23rd. It stated that if we needed to make any updates to our information, we needed to do so immediately. So, as a precaution we updated our address online to reflect our move. A week later, we received a letter in the mail saying that our interview was CANCELLED and would be scheduled in the future! This news arriving after we had booked our flight back to NY for the interview. Argh....

After checking numerous postings in the VJ community, users advised to go ahead and attend the original AOS interview because the system will sometimes send out a letter before even notifying the local office of where your interview is scheduled. So, we figured we give it a try.

We walked into the USCIS office in Garden City, NY for our interview:

    1) Gave the front desk lady our letter and a had a seat, got called up to the next waiting room!

    2) Thinking that this is where they would draw the line and tell us that our interview was cancelled and rescheduled, the interviewer walked into the waiting room and called our names in for the interview!

    3) Basically, before going further into our meeting, the interviewer told us that our GC was approved and that they needed to fill out the paperwork on the computer while we were present. They didn't even ask if we had jobs after relocating (luckily I brought proof of accepting a job in the Bay Area).

After 8 months of waiting patiently, my green card was approved! Thanks to everyone here on the site for all your help!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

  3. Hi All,

I'm hoping I can get some help with my situation. My wife and I recently moved back to her hometown in California from New York City. In the process of getting settled here, all of our mail was already setup to be forwarded to an address here. Well guess what, after waiting for months for our AOS interview letter to arrive, it finally arrived in the mail two days ago (Aug 26, 2011). Dated August, 16 2011, we are scheduled to meet with USCIS Sept 23, 2011 in Garden City, NY. I was hoping to have the interview prior to our departure from NYC. But, you know how life is...My question, is there any way to request for a change of interview location with USCIS, or will we have to fly all the way out to NYC to attend the interview? I'm a little worried as well because my wife and I are currently in transition and wonder what USCIS will think if the two of us do not currently have employment...

    Thank you in advance! :-)

    Kristian

  4. Don't worry, You're not the only one :) I filed my AOS (i130, i483, i131, i693, i864) application during the last week of December 2010.

-NOA Application received January 3, 2011

-Biometrics notice received Feb, 10. Scheduled for March 10, 2011

    -AP received March 3, 2011

    -Biometrics completed March 10th, 2011.

I have not heard anything since my Biometrics was completed. My wife called USCIS yesterday and the agent told her that it usually takes about 6-24 months to process i485, so we should essentially be counting from this month on...Kicking myself because had I known, I would've filed my EAD as well...I'm a TN holder, but my current job is really frustrating me...Based on VJ, I was hoping to have my GC within 5 months. I just filed my EAD two days ago because I just graduated with a Master's degree and have a couple of employment opportunities that I would like to pursue...Hope I get it soon!

Anyways, from what I heard the processing time for AOS takes longer for NYC applicants...Oh well, trying to stay positive :)

Recieved my EAD card in the mail yesterday. That was quick as I filed it separately on June 1, 2011. Now, if only the AOS could get processed just as quick! I'm still waiting!

    Update:

I-765 received by DHS on June 1st. Received i-797 NOA today regarding the processing of my i765 application.

  6. Are there any other filers from JAN still awaiting AOS, or am I the only one?

  7. Hi All,

    Here's the situation:

    -My wife (who's american) and I filed my I-130 and I-485 package(including i-864 medical)the first week of January, 2011.

-We received NOA two weeks later

-I received my i-131 travel approval documents early March, 2011

    -I completed my Biometrics March 16, 2011

Since then, I have not heard anything from USCIS. I called last week to check the status of my application because my receipt number (starts with MSC) does not show up with information on the USCIS Online check status site. They told me that they're still waiting on an approval to proceed further, and that so far it looks good. But, judging by what i've read in other forums on this site, it seems like many received their AOS interview typically into the 3rd month of their application.

My wife and I are a little worried because I've just graduated with a Master's degree and looking to apply for jobs. But, because I didn't apply for a temp work visa(i-765)concurrently in January, I may still be binded to my TN visa(which doesn't expire until Aug 2012). Is there anything we can do at this point?

    Thank you in advance,

    Kristian

  8. ...phew...good, so it doesn't matter now that I tell you as well that this is just a minor hick-up, no big deal - as I haven't heard of any cases having their past living addresses verified - not sure why you have to list them but can't really imagine that they try to find a landlord or someone else who can agree that you have lived at a certain address for a certain amount of time....?

Good luck on your AOS journey :)

    M.

Well I wouldn't say that it doesn't matter. But, it does give me comfort hearing the same sentiment from other people on this forum :)

    Crossing our fingers!

    Thanks again!

  9. Hello All,

I apologize in advance if this question has already been answered. I tried to running a search within the forum regarding this the topic but came up empty.

    So here's my question:

I recently renewed my TN visa for 3 years and currently have 2 years left. My wife, who's american, and I recently got married. We are in the middle of completing forms i-130 and i-485 respectively. Do we still need to file the i-765 form? I read the section on "who may file this form". Under the T1 Non-immigrant section it says to file this only if you are looking at requesting a renewal or replacement of an employment authorization document. I don't require a renewal for another 2 years, and I'm thinking that a replacement of employment authorization document is not required as I have those stapled to my passport. Can anyone shed some light on this?

    I would appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Kristian
