  1. Edit:

Tried calling the department of state Visa Services, Public Inquiries Division at (202) 663-1225. I got though the first section, but when I get to the main menu part I can't choose any of the options. No matter what number I press, I get to hear the main menu again. I can't get through to a human, or even out of the main menu. I suspect that I am calling the wrong number or something.

  2. Hello,

I haven't updated my timeline yet (sorry, will do soon!) but my fiance has already received and sent off packet 3, I've paid the visa fee and have a receipt, and it has been over a week since my fiance's medical. I seem to recall somebody saying that you don't have to call the seriously expensive embassy line to check and see if you've been issued an interview date, but I don't know what line that is.

I tried calling the NVC, and they just gave me the expensive embassy number.

What do we do? just wait? Is there a different number? Help would be appreciated, THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Additionally, how far away should I expect the interview date to be? I'm really hoping that it is before the middle of May because otherwise our wedding plans will fall through :(

  3. Nope, I'm scarily disorganized and filling out the incorrect forms, haha. Thanks, I-134 is a shorter form to fill out, thankfully. Is there a list somewhere of the forms that will arrive with packet 3? There was a link to the list in the wiki but it is a dead link.

Hey Amelia, congrats! For the financial affadavit of support you'll be filling out form I-134 for the interview. I-864 is for adjustment of status later...

Unless you're scarily organised and filling those forms out already...! lol :-)

  4. hand raising here!

I got the NOA2 in the mail earlier this week and the notice from the NVC with my fiance's LND number today! Things move fast when you get out of USCIS.

Now I just have to figure out these sponsor forms. I'm not sure if I am actually supposed to check the joint sponsor box if I'm going to have a cosponsor to meet income requirements! Does anybody else know how to fill it out? (form I-864)

  5. Hello,

I don't know if this helps any, but with a PS3 bought in the US my fiance is unable to play any kind of movies using the PS3 in the UK, due to the regional block.

He can still play games and connect to Playstation Network.

It might be worth it for your fiance to sell back his PS3 somewhere in the UK and use the money to buy a new one in the US. With the exchange rate, he might end up with an even trade. Just take all of his save games off using a USB device so that he doesn't lose any of his data.

  6. I just noticed another 10 cases solved by VSC on January 28th and surprise one is August 30th !!! Yeeepyyyy !

Thanks to all who updated their timelines , this helps my soul !!!

    Keep up hope!

I just got an email notification for our NOA2 an hour ago. I actually called on Tuesday and they said there was no progress on my case, but apparently it was approved on Monday! It seems that things are just really complicated at the USCIS. At least things are moving now for everybody.

  7. Hello, I'm a long term lurker who registered to ask a tricky question!

I know that you need a police certificate for every country that you have lived in since you were 16 years old.

My fiance lived most of his life in the states under his parents' investor visas. He has lived in the U.K. for less than a year of his post-16 year old life. My question is, is it necessary to obtain some sort of U.S. police certificate? If so, where would I go to get the application for that?

My thought was that the government would have access to that kind of information without a certificate, but I wanted to make sure to cover all of the bases, so to speak.

I know that he needs to get a U.K. one from the ACPO.

    Thanks in advance!
