  1. Where do you read about this 'letter of support' for filing a ROC case?

The ROC casefile is more about the co-mingling of finances.

It does say in Visa Journey as well about affidavit of support from friends...I read most of the people comments about how important is the affidavit of support.

Letters from friends that have known you as a married couple will be of great help. Good luck you

    Thanks you so much...

  2. Guys,

    Need suggestions...

I am about to file my removing of conditions this month...I was going through the lists of evidences..My question is about "Letter of support".

I read that adding letter from friends & relatives are great support to the case, however I am confused that wthr it should be from friends or family?

Is it OK to get letter of support from in-laws (mother in law & father in law)?????...also it'd be great help if someone can have an example of it..

    Thanks for your responses.

  4. Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions!

Don't make mistake like many people does (including me) by not having joint bank account & credit account. You still have plenty of time so below items most likely will serve you good:

    1) Joint bank account statements (must)

    2) Joint credit card statements (must) (Citi card will give you statements with both names after 2 months assuming your wife adds you as an authorized user)

    3) Joint mortgage/ rent lease

    4) Joint medical / dental / life insurance (almost a must)

    5) Visit doctors frequently (assuming you have joint insurance) just for monthly check up & keep saving the bills that will be mailed to both of you.

    6) Have the foreign spouses relatives send mails/card by postal service & keep saving the envelopes

    7) Joint car insurance

    8) Go to vacations. Doesn't have to be long or expensive. At least spend I would say 1 weekend in every 4 months in close by city/state & keep saving the hotel reservation & flight/train/bus booking confirmation.

    9) If you like pets, get a dog or cat & get certificate from appropriate authority stating both of you are the pet owner.

    10) Open AAA / Costco membership (If money is no issue)

    12) Make sure both of you always have driver's license or state issued ID card with same address. (almost a must)

    13) Create a will (from wells fargo or talk to your bank). Add the spouse to your will

    14) Sponsor an animal in local zoo (doesn't cost too much). Get joint certificate of sponsorship.

    15) Shop online (ebay/amazon). Make sure to use spouse's name as recipient. Again, doesn't have to be anything expensive or too frequently. At least 1 item in every 2 month.

    16) Gas, cable, electric bills in both names.

    17) Add spouse to your work emergency contract.

    18) Take pictures together (possibly in different outlook, hair style) in every 2 months.

    19) Get joint phone plan (I know T-Mobile has it. Figure it out). Always use your joint credit card, joint bank account (debit card) to bay bills (phone, gift, e.t.c)

    20) Child's birth certificate

I wish someone had told me all this 1 year ago :( Good luck.

    Really appreciate your valuble information...

    Thanks!

  5. Hi VJ members,

    Need your suggestions!

I am married & conditional green card holder! My ROC is due in October 2012.

I am getting a huge promotion @ my work, but for that I have to move to New York. My wife(USC) is pregnant & she does not want to relocate, as raising child in South Dakota(where we are currently living) is cheaper & safe according to her. But she does not want me to miss this oppurtunity as it hard to get in this economy. I was thinking to go there & work for couple years & then come back here to my wife & child.

My question is, it is OK for USCIS when I file my ROC? Is there any other evidences support my ROC?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.

  6. if you have a green card then yes you can travel to india,be sure to buy the airline tickets in the same name it needs to match with your passport and green card name,it may be a good idea while your in india to get a new updated india passport since it will expire may 2012. ,because you won't be able travel again until you become a us citizen us passport 3 years later.coming back to the poe use your green card, or if madien name bring a copy of your marriage certificate for insurance, have a nice trip.

Thank you so much for your valuble suggestions!.Really Appreciate.

You should be fine with the GC and passport.

When flying to India, the airline will want to see both the passport and GC prior to boarding.

In India, you will use your Indian passport to enter. When you leave India, you will need to show your passport again as well as your GC.

When you enter the US, you will enter on your GC.

    No other paperwork is needed.

Thank you so much for your valuble suggestions!.Really Appreciate.

  8. hello everyone .

me and my fiance were introduced to each other by our parents n then we started chatting for 2 months then we started talking on the phone for like once in 3 days for 2 months then we decided to meet n then she came to ind we met liked each other n decided to get engaged on july 21st .. then again we were talkin for 3 months on the phone for like 2-3 hrs everyday n almost 10-12hrs on the weekends .. n then we filed our k1 petition in november ..

my and her parents both live in the us .. my parents live in the us from last one yr . but our parents knew each other since 4 yrs .

so my question is getting introduced to each other by our parents is a good thing or a bad thing for our visa procedure ??

    thank you !!

MAKE sure you keep all evidences & record of all those phone/chating records. As much records you have about your talking/meeting, its more helful in your interview. Try to gather pictures, letters & phone bills showing you called & talked that much long.

  9. Thanks Rahul! Do you mind if I ask you a few more questions?

What was the process like at the police station? Do you just go to the front desk and fill out a form? I read somewhere online that one person's experience was that the police came to his house and he had to bribe them and then he had to have neighbors write letters that he was a good person and provide copies of their passports with the letters. Does this kind of stuff really happen? Any more specific information you can give about what your process or your loved one's process was like is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again!

Sorry for the delay in response.

OK, He needs to go to the local police station & fill a form. Also he needs to pay a Demand Draft of some rupees in favor of "Deputy Commissinor of Police" After that the local police station will send his case to Crime Investigation Department. Then a local police officer will come to his house & inquire with neighbours about his character. Yes neighbours have to write a letter about his character & how long they know him.

Yes the best & fastest way is to bribe them so that they can do it quickly. Otherwise they will delay it & you never gonna get it.

Once he got the police certificate then go to the Local Passport office & apply for the Police Clearence Certificate from there as well. In most of the cases, It only takes one day & he does not need to bribe any one. Just fill the form & pay the fee & they will give that certificate on the same day.

Also, its my pleasure that you asked me this questions. I would be more that happy to answer any other question if you have for me as I have handled all those K1 visa procedures in New Delhi.

    All the best

    Rahul

  10. Hi Guys,

    Need your help..

I changed my address online & printed out the AR-11 form with confirmation no. As well as I changed my address online with USCIS.

Today I received my welcome letter with old address. Then I called USCIS & the person told me that changing address online doesnot help. You need to send the form AR-11 to USCIS to update your address.

Guys can you pls help me out? I am confused here...

  11. Can anyone tell me how to obtain a police clearance certificate in New Delhi, India if my fiance's passport is more than 6 months old?

Can he still go to the passport office (the passport was issued in Guwahati 5.5 years ago) or only the police station?

If the police station is required, where is it and what does he do when he gets there? How long does it usually take? Does he have to receive Packet 3 first or can we start the process now?

Thanks for any help you can give us!

he has to go to the local police station & apply for the same...you can start before that...because it takes some time..depends upon how the police officers handle the case

  12. The poster above me is incorrect. ADIT is another name for biometrics (fingerprinting & photo).. it's actual definition is "Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System". It doesn't really matter for you because you've already done biometrics. It's just one of those standard lines.

    Thanks for your response!

so does it mean I should not worry about anything. Just wait for my green card to be arrived?

  13. Hi Guys,

    Need your suggestions!

My case being processed at CSC & I did not have any interview for AOS. Now my case status on USCIS is showing "Decision" & the following below message:-

"Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283".

Just confused, what does this ADIT mean? Do I still have to go through any procedure?

Thanks in Advance for any suggestions/help!

  14. Hi Guys,
