My fiance's k1 petition will expire in a couple months. She has been trying to get her passport for months but there are delays on getting her i.d. to reply for passport. She talked to the consulate about an extension because of this problem. Her petition has been at the consulate since May. They told her there are no extensions given. We will have to reapply and start the whole long process over. Not to mention I will have to repay the 450 dollars for the application fee. That is so wrong. I don't think it is fair that we should be punished for something that isn't our fault. That's government for you.

Once my fiance and I are married and we register the marriage that is all she needs to do to remain here after the k1 visa expires? We will apply for adjustment of status right after we are married but that won't be approved before the 90 days are expired so as long as our marriage is registered everything is fine while we wait for approval of status adjustment?

Once the adjustment of status is filed, I know it will take much longer than the 90 days the visa is good for to be approved. So, as long as the adjustment is filed my wife will have no problems staying in the U.S.? This all seems complicated.
