  1. Hello all,

It's been a very long time since I've posted on here, but i'm still grateful to apart of this community.

I've been a permanent resident since 08/17/12. I split up from my ex husband 11/01/2015. We haven't started anything legal with the divorce, we are friendly with each other and I guess that's why we haven't really pushed terribly much. We live separately and our finances are separated.

My question is, will this affect the process of applying for citizenship?

    Any answers are greatly appreciated

    Thanks,
    Chloe

  2. Hey all, so i've stared to prepare myself or ROC, I know i should have been working on this WAY before now. But I didn't, oh well.
So from what I understand, You send your packet off to the USCIS 3 months before your green card expires. (hense, the 3 month window).
my issue is that my EAD card (the red one) says a different date on it then my green card. (the green one lol) I'm hoping this doesnt sound dumb.

  3. Hey all!

    Long time no see!
I've been in this strange bubble where thinking about immigration paperwork and filing were non existent.

Now back to real life...I feel a little outa the loop of things now.

My question is, when should I start getting my ROC ready? and how much in advance does it need to be posted.
I don't even know where to start right now!

Hoping someone can help me out, or redirect me to a instructional forum.

    Appreciate it alot guys!

    Nice to be back!

    Chloe & Patrick.

  4. Hey all,

So yesterday was my green card interview (anyone who wants a review got ahead and look at my profile). The interview went fairly smooth however we never submitted the forms I-693 because it was almost impossible to get a the civil surgeon to understand what we needed. So instead of submitting the form we just went ahead and sent in our DS-3025. So the interviewer said that they need I-693 because of local policy (which I understand) So about half way home I realized I sent in my ONLY copy of DS-3025 (stupid me didn't photocopy it!) So im stuck between a rock and a hard place. The doctor I had my visa medical with in Australia has retired (Dr. A Millar) And for some reason I can't make an info pass appointment at the moment!

I do have my original vaccination history from my normal Australian doctor handy so I was thinking if I just went to the civil surgeon with that would he/she be able to fill out the I-693. My visa medical expired 5 days ago but the interviewer said he only needed the vaccination history. I don't care if I have to get the whole medical again. I just want this sorted so I can get my green card.

Anyone with any advice or suggestions I would greatly appreciate their help!

    Thank you,

    Chloe

  5. Which part of California are you at?

There is a thread on the forum which lists all the civil surgeons that do not give you a hassle on it.

    You should check it.

I paid $30 for mine in SF.

They only filled the vaccination sheet, and the first part with my details and the doctor's details.

They did not touch the "date of last medical examination" part because they said they did not do it.

They would not even write the date i did my last examination.

They let me check all the details, before putting it in a sealed envelope

I'm in Los Angeles, Where is the forum with the hassle free civil surgeons? If you could link it please that would be fantastic :)

  6. Were all your shots complete when you did the K1 medical? The form doesn't need "complete" ticked, you just need to know if you're missing anything and had to get it here. If you're not missing any shots then just send the DS-3025.

Unfortunately with the new form and the new instructions it makes CS's think that they need to see PROOF of your K1 medical. If possible call the panel physician back home and ask for them to send you a copy of your K1 medical. I went to Dr. Ograglik and he posted it to my family who posted it on to me.

My shots at the time of the medical were completed, I had to get booster shots after the medical though which i do have proof for. My DS-3025 is marked incomplete but is also ticket with "applicant may be eligble for a blanket waiver because vaccinations are not medically appropriate" And most of the vaccinations are ticket with "not age appropriate"

  7. Ugh, I saw these problems coming when they changed the form and instructions.

Do you have copies of your medical, other than the vaccination worksheet? Can you contact the medical clinic where you had your exam and see if they can send you a copy? It might be needed to prove to the CS that you had the exam and everything checked out fine for you. Even though you would not have gotten your visa and be here if something was wrong with your medical. The instructions still state you do not need a new medical, but page 1 of the new form is basically asking the CS to sign off that they know you had the exam and everything was good to go in it. It is a big circle of silliness for K-1 holders with this new form. Hope you can get it straightened out!

I don't have anymore copies of my medical, and I had my medical done in Sydney with Dr. A Millar who now is retired. Ugh.

  8. ok, so here in California after I had called several Civil Surgeons to make an appointment (got turned down by some because they required a full medical too) I had finally made an appointment because someone actually knew what I was talking about, WRONG.

I printed out the 1-693 form, filled out my part (half of page 1) and took the rest to the appointment. The lady then told me I didn't have any proof for the other requirements such as the blood test and mental health #######. so I told her that I already had my actual Visa medical and all I required (which it says in the instructions) Page 1 and the vaccination page to be completed. SO then she said that she will complete only the vaccination page and not page 1. So then I just got frustrated and left, Has anyone else ran into this problem!? Also she wanted to charge me $125.

Any help guys would be GREAT!

  9. Thanks everyone for your reply. No need to pay for EAD and Travel. Awesome.

Now, I have to wait for my marriage certificate (we were married in California) the guy who married us took the license filled out what he had to do and send it in. He left us with a copy of the license. On the License paper it says "license AND certificate of marriage" it was the same thing the guy sent in but just copied. That's the only thing I was left with. Is that valid to use?

  10. Hey all,

So my husband and I got married a week ago and I'm starting on the AOS paperwork but there's a couple of things I can't seem to get my head around. Firstly, I am to file JUST 1-485? and not I-130? I've read on the step-by-step guild for k-1 and k-3 visa holders that all you need is the 1-485. I just want to make sure though :)

Also with the optional forms such as Employment and Travel, are the fees for these forms included with the cost of AOS together? I've heard by are not certain if you file the forms the time you file for your status change they are free.

Now because my husband and I have only been married about 1 week and our marriage certificate is going to take 8 weeks apparently. However our marriage license has our details on it when we were married etc. Is this valid proof? It's a copy but it has been signed dated and stamped.

any help would be great! Thanks guys!

  11. I don't think the USCIS is concerned with her actual age, only if there is like a 30 year difference between you. And there shouldn't be a problem if her parents are willing to sign a consent form. unless it actually states in the petition instructions that she needs to be 18, there shouldn't be a problem. I was 19 when I completed all mine.
