  1. Had my interview Aug 30th and went very smooth they just asked basic questions about items in my application just to verify and that was pretty much it never got any of the weird questions received my approval letter from the agent and said to wait pending the approval if they required anymore info but since have received a text saying my card was in the mail, hope everyone going through this process has the same good fortune

  2. As a general rule, while you can be a citizen of 2 or more countries, you can only be resident of 1 at any given time. In the case of Canada and the USA, there are treaties in place to ensure just that.

Without more information, I would say that since you just got your green card through adjustment of status based on an immediate relative petition, your main residence must be in in the USA, in which case you would enter Canada as a visitor.

I agree as i was told that i could have my green card revoked if i stayed a resident of canada at the same time until i can become a us citizen

  3. Hi I don't know if anyone else is in the same boat as I am but first off I am canadian and have a residence in canada and I travel back and forth to canada from the usa for work and to see my family and I just got approved for my green card(should be in hand in a couple of days) I also have a nexus card which allows me to bypass the usual questions from the agents at customs, my question or questions are

    1) when I go back to canada do I fill out a declaration card as a visitor or a resident?

    2) If a resident of canada do I get the $750 allowance for more the 7 days away

    3) when I come back do I fill out the card as a visitor or a resident?

    4) if a resident do I get to claim $1000 allowance duty free

    5) can I be a resident in 2 countries at the same time?

I have a house in both countries and work in both countries

  4. Just to remain calm and bring a lot of supporting documents. Even though they may not ask for them, it makes you feel more prepared.

    Good luck to all!

Way to go is there any items that you can think of that you forgot to bring to your interview that someone might over look bringing? My interview letter says bring a cerified copy of my marriage certificate but I already sent them one do I have to give them another one or just bring a regular copy? anymore info will help as my interview is this thur, thanks

  5. Having read this post, I made a concerned phone call to the California DMV and I was told the following:

I will be issued a Cali DL as long as I have a SSN and a Canadian passport verifying my identification. I will be issued it in the name (unmarried) on my passport. To change my name I need only fill out the appropriate change of name forms with them.

But I do not trust this information given what I have read on this post.

I'm having trouble dealing with the logistical nightmares of this visa process. It had all been going semi-well up until this point when I tried to get the appropriate information regarding importing my 2006 Toyota Corolla into the US for my personal use.

My 5 hours of phone calls today revealed that this is not a reliable or fiscally viable option for Canadian car owners any longer given that Canadian Manufacturers' refuse to issue compliance letters. No explanation has been given to me as to why this is no longer available to Canadian customers.

    Crazymaking? Youbetcha.

Very sorry to read about your DL problems in Cali. You'd never say we Canadians were neighbours, eh?

I never had to show them SSN as I don't have one yet just my passport and this was back in mar 2012 before I even started my AOS, I was told that all you have to do is get your car smog tested here in Cali and bring it to the DMV and they should transfer if you find out different please post it as I have my car in Cali just not transfered yet, I will do same if everything goes as planned

  6. haha yes i know, just wanna give some credit to him for writing this event in such detail and helpful to others.

i think it's still true, or maybe i should start my own thread 'any K1/AOS people applied for CA driver's licence this year? (when and what documents did you need)'....

Its funny you asked whether they still do that I had applied and received my CA DL (before i even started my AOS) in Feb 2012 and now have both my Canadian and USA DL I just told them my wife lives here and I come on a regular basis the stupid part is you have to take the written and behind the wheel test again and I had to to do the behind the wheel test twice once for the car and other for my bike what a joke...35 years driving experience. well good luck getting yours

  7. Still no bio letter uscis priority date received june 18th received noa in mail june 24 I hope they didnt send to wrong address does anyone know if you call them would they know if there is an appt for bio already assigned? can I call the bio office would they know, I need to get back to Canada and they won't let me leave with my I131 without biometrics

  8. 1) For Form I-130 you need two G-325As, one for you and one for USC-- you both complete and sign your respective G-325A's.

    2) For Form I-485, you need one G-325A-- this is also for you, you are the applicant, you complete and sign.

In summary, you complete and sign two, your wife completes and signs one.

    3) It makes no difference. Some people mark "status as PR" and others mark "other" and write "concurrent I-130/I-485". The USCIS will figure it out either way.

Finally a straight answer thanks a bunch

  9. I was referring to a third g325 - that's why the guides will help.

Hi in regards to the g325's I know that I have to fill in 2 and my wife 1 but I have some questions as to fill them in correctly

    1) in the Box at the bottom who is the applicant 1) for my I-130 2)my wifes for I-130 and 3)my I-485

    2) what do I check off in the "this form is submitted in connection with "status as perm resident or other and mark I-130 or I-130/I485

    3)who signs as the applicant

thanks for any help in this matter I keep getting different answers and then they stop replying when they don't know

  10. I-130 CR1 visa is what I would put there. For this purpose you sign as "applicant" on your G325a and your husband will sign as applicant on his G325a. When asked about his current wife, he'll provide your maiden name.

A person born as Mary Jane Smith but who married and took the name of Bob Jones is NOW Mary Jane JONES. In other names used, she would type Mary Jane SMITH, JONES for both the G325a and I-130 where asked. A touch doesn't mean anything at all. My advice is to spend your energy elsewhere as you may never see any evidence of a touch between filing and approval. If you do, you'll never know what it meant.

Hi I have talked to you before I just have a question about the g325's I have to fill out 2(my wife fills 1 in and me the other ) for the I130 and 1 for the I485...is she the applicant on the I130's and me on the I485?
