I just want to know the following:
What constitutes a marriage to adjust the status of my foreign fiance?
A. Registering our marriage with the state
or
B. Actually having a ceremony, exchanging vowels, etc.
We just want to adjust her status so we can have more time together to plan for the wedding. A week, hell even three months is not long enough to plan a wedding together. We've been a couple for a long time, so we want it to be a special memory...not a hurried, courthouse marriage memory.

I guess what I am trying to ask is:
Does a "marriage" constitute simply as registering with your state?
...Or actually going through the entire marriage ceremony, e.g. both families present, with a reception, kissing, dancing, music, so on and so forth?

Our Fiance visa has been approved and we will soon be going in for the interview process. We want to plan our wedding together in the US but there is no way in hell we could do it in three months.
What constitutes a "marriage" in order to apply for a change of status to become a permanent resident?
We want to have more time together to plan our ceremony... I mean typically planning for a wedding take 6 months or more... so... help please!

I'm submitting our I-129F visa today and I was curious if after they receive the application and begin processing it if my fiancee can visit me in the U.S. at any point during the processing period?

Yea, don't worry too much about it. I think they still send it to the service center that covers the area you live in.
For mine I put the Vermont address etc on the coverletter and other items and once the lockbox was done with it, they forwarded it to Vermont. I live in Maryland so Vermont would be mine if the lockbox wasn't in use.
Thank you so much. Knowing all this has really put my mind at ease!

I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's all going to get sent there eventually. I think as long as your envelope is addressed correctly, you'll be okay.
Ok, cool. I'm stressing about this fiancee visa stuff like crazy.
Thank you!

If you are sending Express mail, which you don't really need, I would send it to the second one that says it is for Express mail.
Texas is just an intake hub. Your service center is still Vermont Service Center.
Does that mean that in the cover letter and letters of intent I should have my service center or the Texas lockbox as the recipient address? I did not realize that we had to mail it to Texas, so my fiancee signed and dated a letter of intent with the Vermont service center address as the recipient and sent the original to me through snail mail.
I haven't submitted the I-129F yet, but I would hate to have to stall our submission any further by having her re-sign the letter and send it to me through the mail.
I wouldn't sweat it too much right??

I've got all of my documents filled out and signed as does my fiancee. The only problem is, she is currently residing in Japan and I was wondering if the USCIS Vermont Service Center will accept faxed copies of a beneficiary's documents or do they require the original signed documents?
Thank you!

Thanks guys!
When you say "when you get to the embassy/consulate section" do you mean when the packet arrives at the embassy?
When you say "Did you also include a cover letter describing your relationship?" do you mean the cover letter for the packet?
I'm using Visa Journey's step by step guide (here) as my legend.
Sorry for asking so many questions! Just want to clarify and make sure I make no mistakes.

Sorry to add another question to this topic but I was also curious if everyone thought my answer for question 18 is sufficient enough.
Here's what I've written:
"My fiance and I met while studying at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan and began dating on November, 2006. I returned to the U.S. on 07/05/2007 and since then we have vacationed together 2-3 times every year. We were engaged on 05/29/2009 at Yosemite National Park. Our most recent trip was to Buffalo/Toronto on 06/26/2010."
In advance, thank you for the help!

Only three months to plan a wedding??
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
As I said before, we want to plan it together. We do not want to plan our wedding separate from one another, meaning we don't want to plan the wedding in separate countries from one another.
Is there someone that can just answer my question?
All of the responses are much appreciated, but I need someone who can give me a definitive answer...
