We filed in August 2010 and did not hear anything until they sent an RFE on February 10, 2011. Not a word. the RFE was strage too because they wanted evidence that we met in person in late August, when we were filing based on dates that we met in May 2010. I used the RFE request to write a detailed letter explaining in detail the three dates we met and after mailing that it, we had everything rolling in 2 week intervals almost.
Just stay strong. Once it moves onto the later stages it should go much faster! Keep your head up - and keep talking to each other every day. Remind yourself why you are putting yourself through this heartache.

You will be surprised how quickly it will go once it is passed the USCIS stage. Who knows what they do to make it take so long, but just have faith in your relationship someone will legitimately recognize it - you will be together before you know it and will have the rest of your life in front of you. It makes for a great story!

It is so encouraging to read everyone's story! I am the petitioner and doing most of the work, but often times we will both work on it together over web cam and just talk while we're working on it.
Finally mailed the first part off this week! The journey is just starting.
Best of luck everyone!

From my understanding it will be very hard to get approval unless you can provide a steady income, enough to support your wife and family. You can get around this if you can provide a co-sponsor who vouch for you and be held accountable in case things go back. I hope it works out though, hang in there!

Why not just go abroad and hold a ceremony already for your Mom? It may not be a legal ceremony if you're doing the K-1, but the experience and memories will still be strong. I don't think an expedite would be possible - just money lost.
