  1. Do you think we will need consent form even if were already married? We gave that to the people at city hall.

My mother in law will be with her so I better make sure she has Picture ID.

Thought we were done with the process. Its a bit depressing hearing they are hassling people there.

  2. Approved on Jan 10 and received Visa on Jan 13

Embassy interview was a bit nerve wracking. The 1st lady we spoke to at the window was very rude for no apparent reason. That had us both worrying. But after that we spoke to a very nice american guy who asked a few questions to us both then gave us a thumbs up and said APPROVED.

Thanks everyone for all your info and experiences. From filing date to having Visa in hand in 7 loooooong monthes.

We just need the CFO seminar and a plane ticket and this is finally over.

Good luck to everyone else in the process,I hope your journey is nearing the end.

Still concerned because her passport is inside the plastic bad that says DO NOT OPEN.Its not in the sealed yellow envelope. Is that safe to open plastic bag?I told her not to open it unless people at CFO tell her to do it.

  3. Finally we got our interview date.NVC sent us an email stating case is complete and they scheduled our interview for beginning of Jan.

Is that normal practice for the NVC to do the scheduling?

Definately not complaining as it saves us the time spent on the phone and having to wait for Manila Embassy to receive.

I even got my flight booked so I can attend the interview. Its a wonderful feeling knowing we are almost done

I hope everyones journey is as smooth as our has been.

  4. Getting ready to send out IV package to NVC this morning.Even after minimizing all our pics and our chat and email logs I still have over 400 pages.Doing everything I can to avoid an RFE.

With so much info being sent to the NVC I cant imagine them actually trying to read through all of it.

Do others send this much supporting evidence or am I going overboard a bit.

  5. Hi everyone, The wife went to NBI yesterday as her previous clearance had expired. They issued her an NBI in her married name.Maiden as middle name.

We havent changed anything from her maiden name including her passport. All the paperwork we have submitted is under her maiden name as well. Will this be a problem for us? Or is this normal practice?

    Thanks in advance

  6. We filed the 130 with her maiden name. And her passport is still in her maiden name. Will that make a difference if we wait until shes in the US to change?Or will it cause problems?

She already has all her paperwork and NBI clearance using her maiden name so I thought it would be a hassle to change everything when were so close to getting our NOA2.

  7. Hi everyone. We are still in the early stages of getting my wife here CR1.As most already know this is very hard being far apart.

I have 2 weeks vacation left this year,i was going to fly out for her medical and interview. Then fly back a couple of weeks later after she gets her visa to pick her up so she doesnt have to do an international flight alone. My question is .Is there any benefits to attending interview in Manila with her? I know she has to do interview alone but I want to be there to help ease the anxiety for her.Does it look better if I attend?

Im seriously thinking about splitting that 2 weeks vacation up so I can go visit her soon. And leave the remaining week to go pick her up.Only getting 4 weeks vacation a year and having to submit vacation requests well in advance is proving to be a problem.

  8. After reading all the requests for RFE im starting to get nervous.I sent in what I thought was sufficient. Are our chances of getting a RFE high, with what we submitted.I wasnt documenting evidence from the beginning. I only started doing that once we decided to get married

    6 monthes yahoo chat conversations

    Pics with her family

    Pics from our wedding

Receipts of me helping with her bills

Proof i travel to see her every 3 monthes

Receipts from gifts I sent during Birthdays and holidays

    Receipts from a texting service {before we decided to use yahoo as our primary way to talk}

What other kind of proof would the veterans here recommend to a person to start documenting from the start.

  9. Hi,were getting ready to start the application for our CR1.Is the certificate of marriage sufficient or should we register our marriage? We were married in a judges chambers and he gave us a cert of marriage ,but I recall reading elsewhere that we need to register the marriage somewhere.I used the search function but it didnt give any relevant threads. Thanks in advance ,very useful info on this site.

  10. Hi, we are trying to find more info about the required marriage counseling to get a marriage license.I will be getting my certificate to marry from US embassy and my fiancee has all her paperwork. We will be applying for our marriage license but all the other guides I have looked at say that marriage counseling is required from anyone under 25.Please help,we will be in Pampanga and looking for something in that area.

  11. hi , great site with lots of good info.Im not sure which route we should take.My fiancee wants to get married in the PI and Im leaning toward the US.I know im going to run into some hassles with my background check. In 1995 I plead guilty to Child abuse and was sentenced to 18 monthes probation.Long story but no violence and I did get custody of my son afterwards. Will this prohibit me from obtaining a K1 ? Should we go apply for a CR1 instead? Thanks in advance. If all else fails Im going to do 6 monthes on/off in the PI .
