  1. So the Embassy in Lima told my fiancee last Tuesday, January 4, that our interview is next Wednesday, January 12. I am active duty Military and cannot make it to the interview, so I am trying to prepare everything I can for her. My problem is, I never received a packet stating which documents I need to fill out and send. My fiancee in Peru had to go to the embassy to get hers in time also. Can anybody help me and let me know what forms and/or types of documents I need to send? I have to scan them and send them that way or fax too as no postal or courier service can deliver before the date. I am sooo stressed! Somebody please help!

  2. oh good god! 5 months!! and this is all with california service centre!!! wow... we just got our NOA1 last week so looks like i'm in for a long ride.. my friend applied last november and was in the states exactly 6 months later and she had major delays getting police clearance from all the countries she has lived in... and she still got to US in 6 months!! but that was vermont service centre... :(

I understand. I had a friend do this last year coming from Peru, and she arrived 4 months after her 129F was filed. I hate her now and wish this wait would end.

  3. add another $350 for the actual visa, paid at the embassy and add $100 (depends on the country) for medical exam/certificate.

Isnt there a few other fees to be paid in Peru also? I will check some e mails from a long time ago, but a friend of mine did this also, and in her packet 3 she had another fee too.

  4. Muchas Gracias =)

Any ceremony in Peru voids the visa. I have asked a couple places including the embassy. You are allowed to have a religious ceremony once everything is finished here and he has permission to travel. Like I said, my fiance wants the same thing in Lima, but her and I must wait until she is here and we file for change of status. If you have any questions about Peru or any advice for me, I would love to hear it.

  5. The k-1 visa interview appointment is set for September 22 at the US embassy in Lima, Peru. I plan on attending the interview so I already have my flight & rental apartment booked. I have been meticulously gathering evidence/proof of our ongoing relationship in the last few months and plan to bring it with me. We are fairly well prepared and this website has helped tremendously! We are waiting for the visa interview appointment letter so she can bring it to the medical exam but it has not yet arrived...all her other documents are pretty much in order (i.e. antecedentes policiales, penales, judiciales & partido de nacimiento verified by RENIEC).

An immigration attorney recommended it so I sent in the I-134 affidavit of support w/ all the supplementary documents along with the I-129F petition..however, I later read that this was not recommended (I am making a new I-134 dated closer to the interview..just so they know that I still have a job and haven't gone bankrupt).

I have ready somewhat contradictory statements about the I-134...is it necessary to get my financial documents (or any documents, for that matter) notarized? The I-134 instructions state that this is not necessary but I read somewhere in the Peruvian embassy reviews that it was. Also...any last minute advice? I know that it's helpful to show up really early and not bring any electronics..

Well, I am also in this process with the peruvian embassy with you. I have not yet recieved my NOA2, but I do have friends that have done this through Peru. They said you should arrive early and expect to wait until about lunch to get in to the interviewer. From there, they look at the documents and proof or relationship, and might ask a few questions. But I have yet to hear from anyone that the visa was denied in Peru. Just be careful for a darker skinned interviewer, I have heard he grills people and needs a lot of proof too.

  6. I check the status daily...a little OCDish, I know! Although I am on the text message and email update, I still check it.

In three days I am going to Peru for a week :D but after that...I probably will not be able to go back until the interview date....so that is unknown :( Not knowing the next time we will be together will be maddening....but at least we will hopefully (assuming they approve the K1) be together always after that. (L) I know it is going to be horrible when I leave, but I am just trying to concentrate on the time together.

I completely understand and wish I could go to Peru right now as well. I have not seen my fiance in 9 months, thanks to the US Military. The next time i can go is either Christmas or an interview. So I feel your pain.
