  1. Hi all, I got my interview letter today in the mail dated Dec 27, 2010 (No txt message or email was sent). The interview has been scheduled for February 2, 2011 at 8:30am which is exactly 4 months after my day of filing. I was wondering how long does the GC card takes to get delivered in the mail after the interview day.

It would be very helpful if Octobers filers who already had their interviews post their experiences to share here.

  2. Unfortunately, there's really no way to predict when AOS will be completed. My wife and I were fortunate, as hers came through exactly 90 days from the time we sent in our packet (see our timeline below). It's pretty dependent on how busy your local USCIS office is and what their schedule is like. I would look through timelines of VJ'ers who adjusted status from the Raleigh, NC, office to try to get an idea of when to expect things to happen. Still, since every case is different, you can't expect any guarantees!

    Good luck!

    AJ

Thank you for your response. It seems that you saved a lot of time by doing the biometrics walk in. My walk in attempt was not successful so I think I lost like a month of precious time there. I hope other Raleigh October filers can share their experiences in this post.

  3. Hi, I'm on a F1 at grad school. I filed my AOS the first days of October and got my Biometrics on the 29 in Raleigh, NC. How long is the waiting time for the interview? No sign of the interview notice yet and i desperately need my gc by january in order to accept a full grant and stipend from NCSU. Is there any way i could speed up the process given my situation?I would appreciate any comments from October filers.

  4. I read in other threads that it is normal for the status to go back to post decision activity. So, you should not have anything to be worried about. I think it means they have actually mailed it or something.

Ohh, thanks Leenie. This gives me hope again. From past months bloggers i would say that an average waiting time after filing AOS is about 100 days. Now it seems it's taking longer for October filers. Ive calculated 120 days. What you all guys think.

  5. Well, this is weird. On December 3, after biometrics, I got and email and a txt message saying that EAD card production was ordered, and the status was "Card/Document Production". Now, on December 15, I got a new email and txt saying that they mailed me a notice they had approved the I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION, and my status step backwards to "Post Decision Activity". This was disappointing, I think it was some kind of mistake on December 3... Also, no sign of an interview date yet.... I need that interview as soon as possible... I didnt apply for AP.

  6. Hi everybody! Yesterday we got the appointment notice. It shall be on January 11th in the morning at the Chicago field office. The processing guidelines for Chicago show 4 months for AOS; I guess that means they are a little ahead of their guidelines (since we'll be at the 3 month mark by interview time) and so they are taking interviews rather than transferring to CSC.

I suddenly feel a little nervous, but we've got some solid evidence for the interview, and one of our friends recently had an easy interview in Chicago for AOS from K-1 :star: So, no worries!

PS - We didn't have any touches or updates to our online case status, we just got the appointment letter in the mail.

Great! I hope I have mine soon too since your AOS timeline is very similar.

  7. I received a text message and e-mail, and so is my EAD case touched and changed to document production, all on Dec 3. the message reads as follows:

"On December 3, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you."

One down, one more to go... cmon GC, lets get it done now!!!

  8. Well, for anyone still interested in the question of touches ... we had AOS and EAD both touched today - two days after biometrics.

    Hi Lennie,

I have a question for you... What office is processing your AoS and EAD? MSC(National Benefit Center) I think Chicago Lockbox is only a distribution point. It should be specified in the first three letters of your application form numbers in NOA..

  9. Our Biometric was scheduled dated 19 Nov.2010, however still no touches till now...and i read some vj's member they got a touches on the following day after they got their biometric..

Kinda frustrated why until now ours still no touches...huhuhu..;(((( Is this normal?

Some people never get touches during the whole process. You shouldn't worry about that, just getting all key events such as biometrics and interview on time...

  10. Hey, we got ours yesterday as well  But it's not scheduled until 11/29/10. It's a little while away, and our local office (Naperville, IL) doesn't seem to tolerate walk-ins. We might try going to a Chicago location or just wait for our date. Just happy to have our letter for now, anyway :star:

I got my biometrics appointment letter in the mail on Saturday November 6, no email, no txt msg, just the letter on the mail. It is also scheduled for 11/29/2010...probably they are very busy at the Raleigh office. I trying to figure out if walk-ins are allowed or not at this office...

  11. I don't know if it matters F-1 or K-1 (probably does), but personally, since we haven't received a biometrics letter, either, I will be calling the customer service line once we hit the 30 day mark from our NOA1 date. Maybe they can get it moving.

Yeah, that is wise move, I'll wait one more week before calling. Let me know if you get your letter

  12. Has anybody but robertlaird's cases shown up online? Ours still won't come up.

Mine showed up after 5 days of submission (sent AOS on Oct 2, received Oct 3) and it says "On October 12, 2010, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case". I'm just wondering why I haven't received my biometrics appointment letter yet. It's 30 days already since I filed AOS. Does anybody else filing AOS around Oct 2 didn't receive a biometrics letter yet? I'm getting worried...

  14. Hi everyone just wanted to join to share my timeline. I filled for AOS after marring a LPR. I was on a F-1 previously. It is interesting to see how the timing works for USCIS. They assigned me to MSC. Is MSC always designated for AOS?

  15. Not very keen on K-1s... All the best

Hi besaangel, I saw your AOS timeline and am lucky to find someone who has experience doing AOS from F1 Student Visa. I have a question. When you filed your AOS you sent a copy of your NOA2 right? did it stated your priority date was current? The thing is that my priority date just became current today and I received my NOA2 saying I can't adjust status until my PD is current. I'm just wondering if I could send my AOS right now or I should wait for another NOA saying my date is current. Thanks...

  16. My p/d Mar 29, 2009 approved on July 26, 2010 . So I think P/d : july /2009 have to wait a few days or will approval on the end of Aug or on Sept. It's depend on USCIS. USCIS is working slower than NVC. Hope you guys will have approval soon. God will help all of us. Goodluck !

I agree with smile99, it will have aprooval soon. According to USCIS CSC their processing time is 14.5 months (last processed case date was March 23 2009). Do you guys think this projection is accurate?

    Check the description at: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextchannel=a9243529fdb7e010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextoid=88f7703167a9e010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD

    My case:

    PD date: Jan 07, 2010

Not yet received approval yet.... possibly on February or March?

By the way, current priority date is 01 Jan 2010, which is meaningless if most of the I-130 cases haven't been approved yet by USCIS.
