She could have applied for a Social Security number during the time her I-94 was still valid, but it's too late for that now. She can get apply either when she gets the EAD or the green card.

Thanks for the info. If she would have gotten the SS # based on her I-94 when she first came in would that number change once the AOS was filed, or become void? Just curious.

My Canadian wife moved to the USA on a k-1 visa in January 2011. We have since been married, and filed for the AOS, Work Auth, and Travel Documents. We just completed the biometrics this week too. We expect to have these things go through this summer (July or August). We are confused as to when she should get a Social Security Number. Do we wait until the AOS, Work Auth, and Travel Documents go through?

She needs a SS number to do several things - apply for her Pennsylvania Chiropractic License, get a PA drivers license (luckily we were able to open a bank account for her without a SS number). Is there anyway to get a PA drivers license without a SS number?

My fiance will be moving from Toronto to Pittsburgh after Christmas on a K-1 Visa. We are trying to figure out the best way to transport her belongings. I would like to rent a 14-17' truck and do all the packing and driving myself. Can anyone recommend a company or shed some light on what they did?

The DS-160 requires a digital passport style photograph to be uploaded. We are having trouble scanning the photo. Does this form get electronically submitted, or is it filled out online, printed off and sent in with the rest of packet 3? Why cant we just print off the completed form and attach the photo by hand?

My Canadian fiance spent 3 years living in the USA for school (where we met). Does she need police records from the USA as well? She read it was not required for the USA, maybe because they already do a background check on both of us? If anyone knows for sure please let us know. Thanks!

My Canadian fiance and I recieved our NOA2 August 9, 2010, and the NVC sent it to the consulate in Montreal on 8/13/2010 per phone conversation. When can we expect my fiance to receive package 3? Will they not schedule an interview until after they have the package 3 checklist returned? I guess we didn't expect it to take nearly a month to receive package 3. Can anyone shed some light as to when it may arrive? also, an estimation as to when our interview will be? We were really hoping to have her move here before Christmas, but now I'm not so sure. We are currently waiting for packet 3. NOA2 arrived about 2 weeks ago, and the NVC confirmed they forwarded our application to the consulate in Montreal. I have been looking at what will be in packet 3 so we can start getting things together now. Can someone fill me in as to when our I-134 gets looked at and decided upon? Is that with packet 3? or not looked at until the interview? I would like to know because if a second sponser is needed I don't want it to cause a delay in our processing.

Also, Should I be calling the DOS or the consulate itself to find out about the interview date? or do they wait to receive packet 3 back to even schedule it?

On our approval notice for the I-129F petition for fiance it lists the consulate as Toronto, Ontario. I have been under the impression my fiance would have to travel to Montreal for the interview....do they perform them in Toronto?
