  1. Hi all,

Made it home safe and sound. I guess my app is moving swiftly as when I got home today I found our Biometrics appointmet letter. We got 2 of them. they

say the same thing so I have an extra if anyone wants one. The letter was issued on 2/7/07. very soon after our Notice of Action.

Our appointment is on 2/23/07 at 9:00am. I am glad my trip did not go more than a few more days. I did not expect the notice that quick...Maybe Nebraska

is speeding up. We can only hope.....

    Good Luck all

  2. Hi All,

I am writting this in the Singapore airport waiting for my 7:30am flight to Narita Japan, Chicago and onto Indianapolis.

I have been in Malaysia with the wife for the last 2weeks and in Hong Kong with her sister for 3 days. It was tough

watching my Irene say goodby to her mom.

Well while I was gone My parents who picked up our mail said we got our first notice of action extending her card for

another year and they would let us know about the biometricks. I will post when I got the notice after I get home and

see it so at least I do not have to worry about it for awhile.

Hope everyone else is doing good. As it is only 3:20am it has been a long night. By the way if you are ever in Changi airport and have some time there is free internet at the Pacific Cofee Company in Terminal 1 departure area by the

    row 1.

    Talk to you later.

  3. Thanks for all the info on going to Canada. I forgot about her getting back into the USA. ....I guess one of

the worst nightmares would be if she was allowed into Canda, but the US did not allow her back. I am tending to think that I may hold off on the trip to the falls until she gets her passport back. I do not want

to run any risk of that happening. Maybe I will be lucky and she will get her passport back before we go.

    Thanks all...

  4. Hi all,

Me and Irene were thinking about going to Niagra Falls at the end of august. She has her conditional pr

card. Can she enter Canada with that. She has sent her passport to the Malaysian embassy for renewal

so she does not have that now. I looked at the webpage of the us embassy in Canada and it is not

clear. I also looked at the embassy of Canada website and the question was not answered..any ideas?

after arriving in the USA. We will file for removal of conditions in Jan 07. Are walk with UCIS was fairly

    smooth.

now and she has bought her first car. got drivers license and is making friends. All in all things are going

ok. We will be making a trip back to Malaysia in feb 07 for Chinese NY for a visit.

  6. This is all really funny and educational. I have had to explaine a few things to my Irene. Once when she

was driving she told me she passed a school bus and when she did everyone looked angry at her. I asked

her if the stop arm was out. She said yes. I said you had to stop for that. They don't really have school

buses in Malaysia. I adv she was lucky a cop was not around.

I have also had to explaine he funky weather here in Indiana. I had to explaine, hail, freezing rain, and sleet.

When I get in her car she says she moved the chair back"electric seat". I had to learn what a car park

was, also a car porch. She also uses the "full stop" when writing a sentence.

She was also surprised and shocked about how much tax they took out of her pay check.

She also uses British terms sometimes such as boot, bonnett.

It has been alot of fun though. She does want me to tell her the way Americans say things.

    It is funny though.....

  7. Scotty, right on as usual: ALWAYS call and ask the right questions!

little4ele has just posted that J'burg told her 'no'.

Typically it's better to have the USC call/contact the Consulate but I don't know what would happen in their case, where she has already called.

Make sure you get the OK from the Consulate before making any plans. Can't say it enough times. :)

Wow my heart just sunk into my chest upon reading all this...I was assured by the legal team I hired that I would be able to do this...or else I wouldn't have filed these papers.. what do I do now..

Have you called the embassy yourself yet?

  8. Since work was slow I copied and pasted this page from the US embassy in SA.

For an American citizen, applying to obtain immigrant status for his/her foreign spouse, child, parent or sibling

The Petitioner and Beneficiary must both be present and submit their passports for identification purposes. One copy of each of the required supporting documents must accompany the petition. Forms are also available at the consulates.

Documentation needed for filing on behalf of a spouse:

Completed I-130 form from the petitioner.

Completed Form G-325A (Biographic Information) from both the beneficiary and the petitioner

Valid U.S. passport for the petitioner and a valid passport for the beneficiary.

The original full, unabridged Marriage Certificate. If you were married in South Africa you must apply for this specifically. We can provide an application form that should be submitted to your nearest S.A. Dept of Home Affairs office. Final decree(s) of divorce or death certificate showing termination of ALL previous marriages.

A passport size photo of each spouse, in either color or black and white.

A filing fee of $185 (Rand or U.S. $'s) payable in CASH or bank/traveler's check made out to U.S. Disbursing Officer

    Documentation

  9. I would be sure that you can do DCF in SA. I was under the assumption that you had to be married in

the country that the applicant lives in. I think that is the case. I think that if what you say is true then

alot of other VJ members would have got married in the US and then flew back to their home country

to dcf if available. It would be worth contacting the embassy there to be sure, but I don't think you

can do what you are planning. I think you would have to file the I-130 here in US at the proper

    service center.

    Good Luck

    Scott
