  1. Hi there...yes it will work just fine I just got my visa last week and my fiance sent me an email invitation letter. I also did it myself I just sent everything to the Washington Embassy and bam I got my visa in 3 weeks no problems!

Thanks everyone! I see the letter is supposed to say that he is accepting full immigration responsibility....how can i word that? can you please send me a format?

  2. A consultation with a lawyer is up to you. I would suggest reading the guides and determining if this is something you can do on your own. Unless you have a really complicated case (previous overstays, deportations, etc) it is not really necessary to have a lawyer. A lawyer cannot make the process go faster and the embassy is not going to be harder/easier on you if you have a lawyer.

    Good luck :)

Thank you. No there is nothing like that at all.

  3. exactly you have answered your own question what can a lawyer really do? And in Lagos a lawyer or no lawyer there is no "swaying" There have been older women in the Nigerian portal that have been successful. What you need to do is just start and be detailed and organized and make sure u address the age difference like are you out of child bearing age etc....It has been done so it is possible. Goodluck

Thank you. I'm not sure what you mean when you say to make sure you address the age difference.

  4. I dont think you need a lawyer unless you have some red flags that are difficult to overcome or you have a complex case. Which Embassy will you be using? pls feel in the rest of your profile so you can be better advised.....

Well there is an 11 year age gap. Hes younger. He is in lagos. Should I file on my own and wait for problem before hiring a lawyer? I just wish I new if hiring one now would maybe sway the interviewer or not. I dont know if lawyers do anything else other than file the paper work for you. I mean what can they REALLY do?

  5. Me and my husband are trying to help my sister in law visit us for 6 months in the U.S. A . She is from nigeria we want her to visit as long as possible but if they think that is too long to be away from her husband and teenagage child will the embassy interviewer reject it all togther or will they be able to adjust the time and give her 1-3 month visit right then at interview? Or will she have to try again later for a shorter period of time? please let me know so that if that is the case she can apply and ask for a shorter period of time from the start. Please help answer
