  1. I owe about $2800 in taxes and payment will not be on-time, however payment will be made in due time. I have not yet filed for my fiance's K1 visa. Will this affect the process or will i absolutely have to pay them before filing?

It depennds on the consulate. I know a couple who had an outstanding $23000 federal tax lein and they sailed through Manila a few weeks ago no questions asked with a I-864 showing income of $23000.

  2. Sigh..

I see this thread has grown to 10 plus pages..

I've been ignoring it but I thought I'd add another post..

All this talk about "I'm just expessing my opinion" or "free speech" simply means that that you are a bigot and have found a forum that unfortunately keeps the bigotry alive on a seemingly weekly basis.

If it is someones opinion that Jews, Christians or Muslims should not marry outside of their faith there would be universal condemnation here. Also should you be gay, transgendered or whatever any derisive comment on that would not be tolerated. If you are black, brown, yellow or pink and you came here and said how can they be happy, it will never last ect your comments would not be welcome.

But this place is a refuge for the ignorant and stupid when it comes to age differences. Which is to bad because in my opinion a forum that tolerates bigots are bigots themselves and is not the venue I can neither suipport nor continue to contrubute to.

  3. when my bf started the whole petition, he used the address in shreveport LA but since he was laid off he went back home in Toledo, ohio.

now in the ds forms and interview..what address should i write and say???

    sorry kinda confused..

    thank you

    His current address.

  4. how about in the philippines? if there are banks that filed case regarding your credit card bills, will they hold you even if you have the court and prison records certificate that you are clear and NBI showing you dont have a record?

There are cases in the Philippines where anybody (Immigrant, tourist, OFW) are not allowed to leave until they have paid their creditors. It dosen't happen often but it does happen.

  5. Your POE will be SLC. I fly in and out of SLC all the time. The flight from CDG is the only major daily flight at the International Terminal. There are a few flights from Mexico but not at the same time. I assume you are flying Delta and transfering to a connecting Delta flight to Vancouver.

The problem I see that the flight is frequently late espically this time of year due to strong headwinds. Also there tend to be more Europeans than Americans on the flight so the lines at immigration could be fairly long, espically if you are seated at the back of the plane.

They fly a 777 on the flight and the business class is usually full but if its not you could ask the flight attendants if you could sit up there for landing as you dont have much time to clear customs.

Since you are with a USC I'd go the American citizens line with him to speed things up a little. they should let you do that as they dont have a lot of flights.

The connecting flights are at the C, D, and E gates the International terminal would actually be the F gate. If your connector is in the E or D gates its not to bad of a walk but the C gate is a bit further.

The bottom line is its going to be very very tight. They will accomodate you on the next delta flight so dont worry but if possible I'd try to get a later delta flight to YVC.

  6. As long as she is getting hers you will be ok. You will soon learn about the concept Filipino time. Don't try to schedule everything to tight because in many cases it may not happen. On the other hand being there in person you will be able to expedite things when necessary.

I know its hard not to, but dont stress to much while you are still here. Trust me marrying in the Philippines is a great adventure, enjoy it as it will be one of the best memories of your life, and it's a great way to start your life with your Filipina.

  7. Its usually good advice not to quit your old job before you find a new one. The job market is very bad in the USA almost across the board and is likely to stay bad for some time to come. Its likely that you living standard will also decline as civil engineering pays less than some of the other engineering diciplines. Also you may have fewer opportunities to find a job in the field here because you are a woman..even though discrimination is illegal it becomes more pronounced in a down job market

Living in the Philippines is not for everybody. I love living in the PI and go as often as possible for as long as possible but for other American's not so much..

In your situation I'd seriously consider having him move there, he could see how he likes it there and you could apply for jobs in the USA.

  8. I get tired of reading these posts from these age bigots.

I find it quite unusual that folks in multi-cultural relationships don't realize that everything you say about age differences can be applied to your relationship by people that dont know you.

  9. H & R Block cant seem to figure out how to deal with immigrant's or people in the processes taxes. I'd go with another preparer or just download one of the tax programs ask questions here if you get stuck. There are several good posts telling you all you need tp do to file.

  10. I am trying to plan a trip to visit my fiance in South Korea while we wait for her visa. Unfortunately, visiting Korea is a hassle, and I can only make one visit (in the foreseeable future).

I am wondering if anybody knows whether if it would be more beneficial to visit her before the NOA2 to have more evidence for an ongoing relationship (outside of our communications) or to be there for her interview.

    Any input is appreciated.

I'd be there for the interview. The processing times are fairly quick now and being there for the interview is always a good idea, demonstrating both an ongoing relationship and you commitment to the relationship plus she will love you more for being there...

  11. Hi, I am also new to this forum, but I am desperately hoping someone can help me. My fiance is Brazilian, but he lives in Spain now illegally. He overstayed his visa there, mainly to stay with me while I was in Spain. Anyways, now I am in the US and we have applied for the K1. Our petition just got approved after 5 months. Now my dillema is that on the US embassy site in madrid it says that non spaniards living in spain illegaly can not obtain a police certificate. He needs a police certificate from Brazil and from Spain. Is there any way he can get this? Does he have to return to Brazil? Has anyone had any similar experience with a situation like this. Now I feel like he is going to recieve packet 3 and we are not going to be able to do anything without a police certificate. thanks for your help

    b

Which country are you petitioning him from Spain or Brazil? As a practical matter it would probably be easier to get a police certificate from spain if he was petitioning from brazil.

  12. This is something that you need legal advice to know what options are open. Things dont work the same way here as in the Phils. Your attempts to fix things on your own might jeopardise all of your families future here. Get a good lawyer.
