I fly out to be with my SO this Tuesday morning and can't remember which form to fill out.
Obviously I'm a K1 holder - I remember there's a white customs form, but there's the green form which (I think is the VWP) and then the white one. I seem to recall reading somewhere that I fill out the white?
Anyone enter recently that can confirm?
-
Yays! Thanks for the support you gave me EC - VJ has been a sanity lifeline at times during this.
Good luck to everyone else waiting!
-
Confirmed mine will be delivered tomorrow morning woot! Flying to be with my SO in 6 days! God I'm so excited lol.
-
As long as the CO has overwhelming reason to believe, and sufficient evidence to support, the conclusion that your relationship is genuine and not for immigration benefit then you will have no reason to worry.
Just expect to be asked a couple of probing questions at interview and don't be offended when and if they do; and if they do not then hey all the better right?
Good luck!
-
There's nothing really wrong with the way in which he has answered it to be perfectly honest. His intent is very clear in his answer and although certain embassies have preferences as to how Q.11 is answered I seriously doubt any CO would have an issue with that answer.
-
Now you start the waiting portion of this process (most of this is waiting lol).
Answer any Requests for Further Evidence/Information (RFEs) and keep your cool; and don't forget to tell each other that you love each other! It really helps you through this.
Good luck on your journey!

Can I ask why they took so long returning the passport and visa? I'm waiting for mine back from London also.
-
I believe the visa is valid for 6 months before it must be activated by entry to USA. After that you have 90 days to marry and apply to adjust status.
-
Yes I mean the 8th, just got a message today from DX Secure, its going to be delivered on Monday so not really that long!
Hope you got your visa safely today. Still no news on mine
-
Please Can any one explain me this ?
You met each other, in person, at least once within 2 years of filing your petition. There are two exceptions that require a waiver:
1. If the requirement to meet would violate strict and long-established customs of your or your fiancé(e)’s foreign culture or social practice.
2. If you prove that the requirement to meet would result in extreme hardship to you.
is there any chance to get K1 without meeting personally ?
Do you fall within one of those two categories? If not then no it's not likely without a very good reason.
-
Congrats to you both
That's exactly a week then - can't believe I will have to wait until Monday now to hear anything it's frustrating as hell.
-
Do you mean Monday 8th? I was approved on Tuesday 9th and have not had any indication yet that the visa is on its way.
Looks like people are getting them almost exactly a week later so expect yours on Monday.
(Just spoke to DoS and they haven't even put my approved status on the system yet so no movement on the Visa so far)
-
Only if she can prove it's for tourist purposes and that she had strong ties at home.
The government has every right to that information when you are making an application for someone to essentially immigrate. They have to protect their citizens as a whole and ensure that you are not attempting to marry people for money. Sucks but there you have it.
It sounds like you don't want to tell her something really important about your past so maybe you need to rethink the whole situation mho.
-
Mmmhmm either you have an RFE on its way, or more likely because of the timeframe you're just sitting on someone's desk waiting to be approved. Certain times of the year they seem to be slower.
-
Yes, when I mentioned AP I meant Administrative Processing
-
Is there anything about your petition that could be construed as odd? Do you have a very complicated petition? Are there children involved? Do you have a criminal record?
There are many reasons you could be being held up at this stage - almost impossible to say without some more information from you. But the good news is that you shouldn't panic yet you're still within normal bounds although getting towards the outside limit.
Good luck.

Calling the DoS:
1-202-663-1225
Press 1 for the Main Menu
Press 4 for Foreigners Applying To Come To the US
Press 2 for Immigrant Visas (yeah, yeah - we know they're not really)
Press 3 for Family or Employer Based Visas
Press 2 for Fiance(e) visas
Press 0 for an Operator
Have your case number ready to ask them to access your file.

So there is no other way then?
Thank to all for the answers by the way.
No, you're shooting yourself in the foot in multiple ways by not wanting to tell her or potentially not telling her.
1) At some point you will have to send her the I129F packet you sent in which will have had to include your divorce decree.
2) If you don't send that part to her she is likely to be denied because she doesn't have the original document.
3) Alternatively, if they don't ask for the decree they are likely to ask her questions about it.
4) Let's face it - it's going to be a topic of conversation that the CO WILL bring up. Multiple marriages from the same country ring alarm bells.
All other visa processes are going to require this disclosure. In fact don't even bother going through with this if you have issues disclosing that piece of information because as you should know that is the very least of the information that she will be made privy to. It's a highly intrusive process and she needs to be armed with as much personal info from you as you can think of.
-
I'm going to be pathetic and admit I keep checking the tracking site to see if the visa is on its way already even though it's barely been 48 hours lol.
Will be devastated if we suddenly get pushed into AP.
-
I went in armed with a lever arch file that was at breaking point...
All they wanted was my birth certificate, police record and the AoS by my fiance (I handed it over with 3 years of returns and his 2009 W2).
My second interview 10 minutes later all originals were handed back, I was asked about the child we had, to which I said ... huh? She was like you have a child right and it suddenly clicked she was talking about our niece in our photos which I explained. We both laughed, she tried to trip me up by saying we got engaged recently right and I corrected her by saying we got engaged last October and then she asked me to raise my hand and swear the oath thingy.
That was literally it. I offered his employment contracts or bank statements to verify the sums on the affadavit and she said it was unnecessary and that she had more than enough information and was confident that the relationship was genuine and that we were approved. It was all very anti climatic.
I agree that you should take information with you for that in case moment but as for poor credit or finances when you can state 40k on your affadavit - total none issue unless they have reason to believe that your 40k is a lie.
Good luck to you!
-
Nvm I misread something!

Just got wonderful news: called DOS again, and the woman said, "I have good news for you: his visa was printed today and should be delivered in the next few days!" WHOOOOPEEE! We are so relieved and happy I could weep.
So happy for you! Now take that huge breath you were holding and dance around the room hehe!
Have a wonderful wedding day both of you
Some day we'll all look back on our applications and the huge waits and laugh... just not anytime soon lol.

in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
Updating Janine&Scott - moved to CSC from VSC a few weeks ago.
Conditions removed (yay!) effective 10/21/2013 if someone would be so kind as to update the list (it's not working for me today for some reason).
Pretty surprised at how quickly they processed us actually considering I missed my first biometrics date by accident.
See you all next year for naturalization?
