  1. Okay, my wife has her final interview in Rio de Janeiro THIS Tuesday!! I just wanted to be sure I have two of the items on the I-864 filled out properly.

okay, Item 21-household size. 21a is obviously 1 for people i am sponsoring. 21b is 1 for myself. Now 21c "are you currently married?" Do I put a 1 because I am married to the person I am sponsoring? it says above that "Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit."

And the other question is 24b. it asks for income i am using from any other person counted in my household size. My father is the co-sponsor, but he is not included in my household size. Do I just leave this section blank?

Thank you VERY much!!! This is going to be a huge help!

  2. Hi, my brazilian wife and I recieved our final interview in rio de janeiro october 21st. We are doing DCF. My question is about the forms ds-230 and ds-2001. The form 2001 says it must be mailed in in order to schedule our final interview. Since our interview has already been scheduled, do we need to mail this in? Also, the ds-230 do we mail this in or just take it to the interview?

    Thanks.

  3. Okay, basically my wife was in the U.S illegaly. She was brought there by a parent when she was 10, graduated high school, and then returned to Brazil after the summer. She was 19 years old when she returned to Brazil. The thing is, her u.s visa was issued to her with a fake last name. When she left the U.S though, she obtained a new legit passport from the Brazilian consulate in the U.S. So in other words, she left the U.S with her real full name.

My question.. is the DCF process ALWAYS denied for such things? is there ANY chance they will have some mercy?

When I dropped off the I-130 package in Brasilia, they said that living illegaly in the u.s isnt always automatically denied but it may take longer to process her forms because they need to run background checks for every 6month period since she was 16 in the states. were they trying to be polite with us or what?

    Thanks.

  4. Okay, I brought my I-130 to the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil. It was accepted and mailed to Rio de Janeiro. A few days ago I emailed the Rio consulate asking for a status update. They informed me that my wifes interview is scheduled for October and that a letter should be arriving in the mail shortly explaining everything. We dropped off the I-130 on June 28th, and her interview is Oct 21st. So about 4 months. Not bad at all.

Now, my question is this. I have been in Brazil for a very long time and therefore have no income to show on the 864 document. My father is going to be the cosponsor though.

So I fill out the 864 and say I am umemployed, and then my father fills out the 864A, correct?

    Thanks in advance
