This email I received after 13 days. I sent an email to vermont centre and they replied me back.

Hey Rosey!
thanks for your info. I called the USCIS the other day, as i havent had an update since Jan 14th, and it was still in initial review. she told me that they were processing Oct 8th people, so the applications recieved on that day. i asked her how long it took for them do say, do one day, and he actually said depending on how quick they want to work that day!- haha.. she was not saying that being mean or anything, but she was truthful!
but if it takes 4 months, them im just about there! they recieved my application Dec 29th, can you remind me when you applired yours?

hey Sergi,
thanks for the info. I finally got the information from visa processing number that they sent my waiver to vermont on march 7. I sent an email to vermont centre abt the receipt number because USCIS people just told me to send an email to vermont. so I did it and finally after 13 days, I got the reply with the receipt number and they also mentioned that I601 are taking 4 months to process now. I checked my status online and it says initial review. so hope to hear good news soon.
thanks everyone for the help
Rosey,
Seems you and Broken are talking two different applications. If you put in the case number for the I130 you get information on that case. This is not the case # for your I601.
Depending on who you are talking to on the phone at Embassy or USCIS will determine the quality of your answers. Find out what office of USCIS has jurisdiction over the consulate you attended your interview at. They either have an office in that country or they don't. If they don't then they send the I601 to a sub-office either in another nearby country or to the states. That info is on the USCIS website.
They have the contact office email and phone number on the website, use that to call or email and request an update on the I601.
The Embassy doesn't adjudicate I601, so there is some thing wrong with what you are describing.
-
hey Hornei,
Congrats!!! I sent my waiver in December to Montreal embassy and they sent on march 7 to vermont and I received a receipt number yesterday. I checked my status which says INITIAL REVIEW. They sent me an email in which they mentioned that I601 are taking four months to process. I appleid for I 601 because of overstayed more than a year. I sent my passport with the waiver to montreal embassy. hope to hear good news soon.
we had an overstay of almost 5 yrs in u.s.a my waiver was received by montreal in aug 2010 and than we received the rfe from vermont in feb 2010.

Update: I sent an email to Vermont but they have no info. Finally, Montreal Customer service agent gave me some visa processing number so i called them however, the lady was so rude. but anyways, I got the info that Montreal sent my Waiver package on March 7. so finally some news :)so lets hope i will get my approval soon.
Best wishes
Rosey
Hi Rosey,
Call USCIS, ask to speak with a Tier 2 officer then plead your case and request a receipt number. When it is time to deal with Montreal Consulate email them with "Attention IV Unit Supervisor" in the subject line, and plead your case again. With me the Supervisor took on my case herself, completed it and had my Visa in the mail in less than a week. Quite frankly she tried to have it to me by Valentines Day however for some reason it got stuck at Canada Post for an extra day. Suffice it to say she had done more for us than our lawyer, the Senators office, and everyone I had spoken with at all the immigration offices together.
Emails from the Supervisor;
This is awesome news. Have a wonderful dinner and a great life in the USA.
Best wishes to you and your wife, thank you for your sincerity and kind words.
XXXXX
This is wonderful news. Please let me know once you have received it.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Best wishes
Just a short email to let you know the visa was issued on February 9, 2011. Hope you have received it.
Best wishes
Please submit these by mail, they will be reviewed up on receipt. You may send your envelope to my
attention so I can work on your file asap and submit it for issuance.
Thank you for your continued patience.
As you can see, she was very kind and helpful so don't lose hope and don't give up. Try anything! Ignore the ones who tell you to wait your turn.
My wife and I are so happy now that we can live together like normal family. Got my Green Card, SSC Card, Drivers License, 725 Credit Score (PM me if you want to know how to do this), our offer was accepted on a new (to us) home, Ford Credit allowed me to finance a new truck. We are having a blast.
This all because of my friends here who helped us conquer the challenge.
If you need help with anything please let me know.
Davey

-
thanks for the update! I am able to track my 1-601 online on the uscis website but no touch since jan 14th. I wonder if i should call that 202 number? or do u think they would have the same info as whats on the website? hmmmm
really!!! how can you track your I 601 application online. I didn't know that.
If you want you can call them...may be you will get a nice person on hold
they have update info and i dont think they update the info online very fast.
i think u should try
good luck
-
finally got the update!!!!
I sent an email to vermont centre and got the reply yesterday in which they just wrote that you have to call 1800 number to check your status. Montreal embassy sent me a reply for my email that they dont have any update info and they will notify me when I will get approve from Vermont.
I called USCIS and long story but at the end I dialed this number 1 877.341.2441. the lady was very nice she gave me this 202 number for visa department. 202-663-1225 to find out the status of my I 601 application.
Finally, I got the update that Montreal sent my waiver to Vermont in the first week of march. (however the lady was so rude
she told me that I should know abt this becoz i m the applicant.) I told her that I called every where but nobody has any info but she hang up on me
the good thing is .... "something is better than nothing" :-)

I went on USCIS website to check and there is no option for I 601 form type. I selected I 212 (Is it the same thing like I601)
Processing Times
1). Select a form type - 212
2). Select a form sub-type - readmission after deportation or removal
3). Select an office - Vermont Service Centre
How to calculate your cycle time
USCIS National Goal - 4.0 Month(s)
USCIS National Average - 14.3 Month(s)
Vermont Service Center - 4.0 Month(s)

hey Frank, did u call vermont centre. If u did can you please let me know their number. thanks in advance

Hey!
I applied for an I-601 the same time- i got a letter after i was approved my green card in Nov, saying that i need to file a waiver. i had 30 days to apply- which didn't gove me enough time for a lawyer, but i did have a lawyers help online. (pay per question thing) and my husband is pretty good at this kind of stuff.
so im waiting along with you! I applied on Dec 15th- a week before it was due. they said to send it to the address on the letter- which was Atlanta- then i got it on dec 24th, saying that I have to send it to the lock box! #######! but they did date stamp it, to show that it came to that office in time, so another 25.00 for a 2 day delivery and off to the lock box. and they recieved it on the 27th. then i got a notice in the mail and im tracking it. and it hasnt been touched since Jan 14th 2011.
soo...were in the same time line!
Hey,
I hope we will all get to hear good news soon!!!!!!!!!! my husband is going to call senator again. I hope they will give us update info
-
hey everyone,
I had an interview last year in oct 19 and the interview went very well but the consular office said that i need a waiver because i overstayed. so she gave us a sheet in which she marked that
=Section 22 1(g) which prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone whose application does not comply with the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act or regulations issued pursuant thereto. The following remarks apply in your case:*
9B1 overstay, needs approved 1-601 waiver
=Other send in valid Canadian Passport
I hired an attorney and sent my waiver in december to montreal embassy. In january I received a letter from US consulate that I sent a cheque and they only accept money order so I sent money order to embassy (according to my attorney, I have to sent it to montreal embassy)
My husband talked to senator, According to her my case is still in montreal US embassy and she requested Montreal embassy to send my case to vermont ASAP.
still waiting...called USCIS and they told me that US embassy in Montreal is going to work on your case not us.
I recently sent an email to vermont centre to find out my case status. lets see!!!!
-
hey broken,
that's what I got when I entered my receipt number, The blue circle is on Post Descision Activity.
On July 2, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
I called Montreal embassy today and they told me that I will get my passport within 90 days including whole procedure. I asked them that Am I going to receive any receipt number? they said NO. I asked them are you guys going to send my waiver to vermont? they said NO. I asked them what is the procedure and she said that it will take 90 days from the date u sent so u just have to wait. She also mentioned that I can give them a call later or I can check Dhl.ca branch to check if my passport is available for me to pick up. So lets hope for better now.
I called USCIS couple of times and they said the samething that they have approved my case and now embassy is going to do everything. I dont know about all the procedure but i think if they both are giving me same information that means I am on the right path.
Rosey,
Ok , you went to your immigrant interview and on 21 December you turned your case into the Embassy. If your case is similar to Davey's timeline , his took 7 months anything shorter than that should be a blessing.
When you say they "already approved your case in July 2010, you are speaking of the I130. The I601 is a different process and takes longer. Depending on where it is filed, you may or may not see case tracking info on USCIS website.
-
Hey Dave,
thanks for your help. I just have some questions.. how long did it take to get your waiver process approved and Is it possible if you can outline the steps in the approval process for me. Is there any way I can expedite this process?
thanks
Rosey
Hey Rosey,
It took Montreal a month to send my 601 to USCIS Vermont. A receipt number will be available after it arrives in Vermont and they are supposed to mail it to you. I suggest you call USCIS and ask for the receipt number and this way you can track the touches and progress
Good luck!
Dave

hey I sent my I601 waiver to Montreal embassy with my passport that's what my consulate officer told me at interview time. I haven't received any receipt number.
embassy received my waiver on 21 december. I called USCIS couple of times but they are saying that they dont have any info. They already approved my case so now embassy will do all the procedure. i am stuck..I dont know who to talk now.
I have my I-130 receipt number and when i entered my receipt number to check my case status and it says that we have approved your case on July 19, 2010. and the blue circle is post decision activity.
any thoughts
-
Congratulations Richie!!!!
I sent my I 601 waiver to montreal on dec 20 and they received on 21. i m in canada from last 10 months. i can understand ur feelings. i hope my waiver will get approve soon too.
-
hi daveyontario
I am in Canada too and I applied for the I601 waiver too. I sent to my embassy which is in montreal. I called USCIS yesterday and they told me that I sent my waiver and passport to embassy so they are going to do it all the process not vermont. I asked them why so they said that if you had sent it to us then we can handle your case but you sent it to your embassy so now they have all the info and they are going to do it.
I dont know where to get receipt number. the consulate officer gave me montreal number and that number is only for schedule an interview and visa info. they dont have enough info. I dont know where should i call. Montreal embassy people only told me that they received my courier. I think when my cheque will get cashed then i will know for sure that they are looking my file.
-
I just recieved an email today, my Visa Waiver was approved so now I can leave Japan with my husband and start 2011 in America, thanks to everyone who guided me and helped me through this process, I honestly did not think it would take the USCIS Dept 2 weeks to approve my case!
Good luck to those who are going through the same process as I did, never give up!
congrats Poohbie!!!!!
can i ask you how long did it take and when did you apply for the waiver.
thanks
and again congratulations
-
You can calculate your bar by how long you overstayed. If its more than 180 days the bar is 3 years if longer than a year its 10 year bar. did you talk to an attorney?
really!!! i talked to my attorney and they said that my case will be k...and consular officer said the samething..she didn't mention abt any bar.
-
thanks for ur reply
my husband is US citizen and he applied for my immigrant visa. my daughter is US citizen too. there were some difficulties in my pregnancy so i had to stay there for 8 months. i dont know about bar...for eg. how long...I have been out from the US around 9 months.
-
hey everyone,
I had an interview on oct 19 and the interview went very well but the consular office said that i need a waiver because i overstayed. so she gave us a sheet in which she marked that
=Section 22 1(g) which prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone whose application does not comply with the provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act or regulations issued pursuant thereto. The following remarks apply in your case:*

=Other send in valid Canadian Passport
basically, now i have to send waiver with my passport to montreal embassy and then they will send me a visa ...right. do you guys think I am on the right track?
my daughter is US citizen so do my hubby and I am living in Canada with my daughter from last 9 months. I hired an attorney and they are saying that everything is done and now u just have to send a waiver with passport.
I601 got approved
in Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)
Posted
thanks Dave
I did sent an email to Montreal to get my visa stamp ASAP. hopefully it will work
