My fiance would like to study once we are married. We called the school and they say he needs a student visa to study there. I'm not sure they are understanding our situation. I told them he is coming on a K1 Fiance Visa. They told us he would have to change his status to a student visa. Our K1 visa has already been approved...we are not going to apply for a student visa now. Then we asked if they accepted an EAD (employment authorization document). They said no to that as well. Does anyone know what we need to do in order for him to study?

For those of you that have not had an interview: Are you planning on going to the interview? For those that have had the interview: Did it help that you were there? Or did it not make a difference? And why? We are not sure what we should do. Our interview is in Rio de Janeiro at the end of March. It will be really expensive for me to go and hard to get time off work. Please, let me know what your experience has been.

We have an interview date on March 29th. We have read that once my fiance comes into the country, we must apply for a social security number and then also a marriage certificate. How long does that generally take? How soon after the date of entry can we have the wedding?

We've waited almost 6 months for our NOA2! We finally got fed up and contacted our congressman on 1/24. We would check our account on USCIS and it never updated. Once the congressman's office called they processed our case in two days! Just got notice 1/26 that they approved our I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE!! What a relief! Any advice on what to expect next??

Have you been reading my responses? I explained its a multiple-step process and cases can get held up at any step for many reasons. Read my responses again for your answer. If you want a definitive answer about your own case's delays, that's not possible.

Hu..I agree with that, I mean, obviously they must process the paperwork in a certain order. I just don't understand why sometimes people from the same country got their aprovals first. That's what I would like to know.

As it's been stated, they may have been expedited for military service or another reason, they may have been pulled for training purposes, or a number of other things. They don't just toss them all in a big open room and just grab them from any date. Otherwise we'd see extremely random processing. As you can see from Igor's, they have a general timeline. It's not like we are seeing October, then July, then Nov, then a Jan petition, then back to August, then July again.

I don't agree with that. For example ...I'm from Brazil and my NoA 1 is from Aug 6, and I've seen several people from brazil who get their NoA1s later than me and they already get their NoA2. And I'm still waiting.

Does anyone know how the K1 is processed? In what order? Is there a specific order? It's so frustrating to see several couples receiving the NOA2 that filed after we did. Does it not matter "when" you sent in your paperwork? At first I thought it depended on the country, but recently I've seen people from the same country that have NOA1 dates later than ours, already receiving the NOA2. :/ (our NOA1 date is 8/6/10)

We received our NoA1 in August 6 and we don't have any news yet.

Yesterday we called them and they made an inquiry to see what's going on in our case... they say that they have 30 days to answer it.

It requires a lot of patience...

I don't know what's happening either. We are waiting for more than 5 months for our NoA2.
