Yep--we're going to try to send in the application for the 18 year old this week!

The child of the older sister is 5 years old now, so hopefully she won't age out! We're going to try to send in that application this week too.

Also, I didn't realize follow to join and derivatives were two different things. Does that mean we don't have to do anything extra to ensure that their children can accompany them (other than the letter from the father)?

I'll have to double check the 18 year old's birthday, but I think she turned 18 in January 2016.

IR5 visa approved yesterday in Dominican Republic! I know most people here are IR1/CR1, but just in case there are any IR5s around here (and if these happen to apply to anyone in the IR1/CR1 category), here's the rundown:

• Interview was very quick. They asked the petitioner's address, the petitioner's phone number, and if she'd ever traveled outside of the country before.
• They requested her civil documents (birth certificate, police certificate, divorce certificate). She didn't have the original marriage certificate from her marriage with her ex (but did have the divorce certificate), and it was not a problem.
• They didn't ask to see the new I-864 (she had it with her just in case).
• We forgot to put her middle name in the first box of the DS-260 (but we did put it where it says to write out your full name in native alphabet)--it was not a problem.

So just in case you were concerned about any of those particular issues, there's our case!

I believe for Brazil you do it at interview. There's only Mexico and India that I know of that has to schedule offsite biometrics appointment. Everyone else you are fingerprinted at interview. Have you gone to your info page on VJ to see if there's any information there about it?

Dominican Republic also does offsite biometrics through the US Traveldocs website (Visa Application Center). I thought that was becoming the norm now, but I could be wrong!

Since you have to do the VAC appointment within 10 days of the interview, my mother in law just waited and did them both on the same day (8 days before her interview). That way she wouldn't have to make an extra trip to the capital. But if he lives near the capital, it's not such a big deal. Good luck!

Good! Our CC was August 1. I'll laugh if we get our CC email after the interview is done, visa received, and family member is in the US.

I'll call NVC about this on Monday morning.

Since we never got the CC email, I think there's a good chance we won't get the interview appointment letter (when we finally do get an appointment), and I know we can't proceed without that one!

NVC told case complete. I saw now only one N/A for AOS fee. I do see in this forum lot of peope got 3 N/As as case complete.

If they told you case complete, you have case complete. The 3 N/As are just a glitch in the online system that allow people to see their CC early in many cases. It's not necessary to have 3 N/As.

Question--we paid the IV application fee of $325 online at the beginning of the NVC process. Does this mean that we don't have to pay a processing fee at the consulate (assuming she is approved)? Obviously we'll have to pay the courier fee, but are there any other NVC/consulate fees?

Got our interview date--October 8!!! (CC August 1)

Quick question--

My US citizen husband is petitioning for each of his parents separately (they're divorced). He technically meets the poverty level requirements if we add on one parent to our family, but not both, so we included me (his wife) as a joint sponsor. I had a job change while our case was at NVC (but still surpass the poverty guidelines). We now have case closed for his mom and are waiting for an interview. Should we notify anyone that my job has changed? Should we have his mom bring any paperwork to her interview? If so, what?

So 63 days after our checklist, we got...another checklist. Apparently one of the documents wasn't legalized. So glad they took over two months to let us know (/sarcasm).

I just got off the phone with the NVC. Lady sd documents haven't been reviewed. She sd it's ALMOST complete! And to call back before the holiday! Does this means something good??

I hate to be negative, but we've been waiting just for the documents to be reviewed since May 4. In supervisor review since June 9. Nothing.

When I called yesterday I asked to speak to a supervisor. They said they were all busy and that I could be put back in the queue to wait for one (hell no! I had to work.) or request a supervisor call back. I asked for a call back, but of course no call ever came. Has anyone ever requested a supervisor call back and actually gotten a call?

I think some information got lost somewhere along the way of this thread. Adding back the oath dates for me and Roddick2013.

I'm not sure how they would even know that those specific friends are not in the pictures. They don't know what your friends look like.

We ended up getting a random phone call on Wednesday night (10/22) at almost 9 PM saying to come in Friday at 1 PM for the oath ceremony. Updating with the oath date!

This helps a lot! Does anyone know if guests can arrive/enter the building separately from the new citizen? I'm going to be coming straight from work and cutting it pretty close. I don't want my husband to have to wait for the last minute to go in because he had to wait for me.

The previous poster answered your questions, but I'm curious about something... your husband will need an oath ceremony letter to check-in. There are a number of questions he needs to answer on the form. Did they fax this over to you?

My guess is that they had some last minute rescheduling and so they ended up with some openings at Fridays ceremony.

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. They told him to just bring his green card. I tried calling the number back to clarify and ask some more questions, but it just takes me to an automated system with no operator. I tried calling USCIS, but they're just as confused by the last minute phone notification as we are.

The officer that interviewed him did advise him that he would probably be called with interview details, as they've been trying to speed this whole process up lately. It just seems strange that it was so sudden and with no details.

harryhita--I'm glad to hear we weren't the only ones with random short notice. Did you have any problems getting into the building without an interview letter? Also, can guests arrive later than the new citizens? I'm trying to figure out how early I need to leave work tomorrow.

You need to arrive early 30 mins. It takes 1 hour when it started

Thank you both! I'm grateful that they're getting a move on with it, but I'm really sad that I'm probably going to miss it. I wish we'd had more than a day's notice.
