  1. A. John,

Wow, You are Class A guy. Posting your number here is something only brave people would do. I hope people don't clog up your line heheh ... Nonetheless, your kindness is duly noted :) ... Please stick around and help the newcomers. Peace

  2. Once you turn in the required information. They will isssue another Blue telling you to go home and wait. That's about it. It is called AP (Administrative Processing) according to what people on here call it. If you spend time and read what others says about the AP process, it is not pretty. I am not trying to scare you but that's reality and you must face it. Eventually, most will get approved. The time it takes to get approved is hard to tell. Some people got approved rather quickly while others have to wait for months. No one knows for certain. Be strong and be positive!

Also, I notice you say Nov 25 is the day you need to turn in your information. That is Thanksgiving holiday. The Consulate is closed that day, isn't it?

  3. Wow, I was gone for the weekend and obviously, I missed the show ... I have posted elsewhere that I stayed at Indochine a few times as well and I liked it.

This is my personal take on this - hear me out. There are thousands and thousands of hotels in Saigon. So asking for a good one is almost impossible. If you stray off the beaten path of Dist 1 and 3, then chances are you might run into a bad hotel but if you stick to hotels in Dist 1, especial around Le Thanh Ton, Le Loi, Dong Khoi, Hai Ba Trung, then it is almost certain that you get your money worth. I love trying out hotels. During a typical 3-week trip to VN, my wife and I usually stay at 2 to 3 different hotels ... just for fun. So, don't sweat it ... Just rent one and if you don't like, go to another one ... I think its fun :)

  4. Matts, hehehhe ... but its not true. I have spoken on the phone with her a few times. Although she is Caucasian, her Vietnamese is as fluent as I am. I even spoke to her fiancee. When I was in Saigon last year, we were suppose to meet up but my schedule did not permit me to do so. After that, we talked a bit more and then one day, she was just gone ...

  5. Well Scott,

how come Ly is the 4th person you've heard about this and NOBODY willing to come forward to post the questions? Wonder if they said to keep it private or something? Questions being ask by the C.O and everyone share it but the questions on the mystery phone call, they want to keep it private? heheh comon comon, i want to know. heheheh JK. it's better to be prepare than being overconfident.

I have posted not once, but many times in the past about the investigation and its details and no one seemed to even care to comment.

  6. @Anh JohnCali: now the investigation part is over with. I really hope you will get that PINK soon. Good luck to you.

@Dai_TX: Do you live in Houston? If you do, perhaps we can get togther for some Pho if you like ...

  7. You two are adapting to Vietnamese culture faster than I thought. Viet love to fight among ourselves hehehe ... OK, let's all put this aside. Everyone had a chance to speak their minds and this bickering does not do any good for anyone. So let's get back to the matter at hand, which is GETTING THAT PINK.

I do agree one point that we need not to exaggerate or glorify the negative. I admit I did that from time to time but simmer it down a bit might actually calm people's nerve down a bit. Everyone is nervous and anxious. So, take a deep breath and move on ... Peace

  8. Well, I send my warmest welcome from an HTowner. Hope Houston will cool down a bit by the time your husband lands in Houston. So you guys drive back to San Antonio right away or you plan on spending sometime in Houston?

  9. Lindal, I can tell that you are over-worried but that's normal. I was like that too but you have to take it easy, the more you think or worry about one thing, the more it drives you insane. However, to answer your questions, I am almost positive that hospitals/doctors in Vietnam will not take your insurance. However, if he goes to "international" hospitals, they might accept it but subject to verification of course. I know one hospital on Saigon would treat US citizens with proper health insurance is Columbia Hospital @ 1 No Trang Long. You can call and ask for more info.

But first thing first, you have to manage to add your husband onto your coverage and with your delicate situation, it might be a few hoops you must jump before anything can be done. If I were you, I would wait till he comes here before I would do anything else.

  10. The other reason for front loading the petition before you send it to the USCIS is this.

The CO at the consulate cannot deny your petition based soley on information already approved by the USCIS. If they do, you do have grounds for an appeal.

We did not provide a timeline in our intial filing, but DID provide one at the interview.

That being said, if you provided the information and it was approved by the USCIS, and your fiance DOES NOT KNOW the information at the time of the interview ( like where you work, what you do, how much you make, if you have clidren, brothers, sisters, etc) then your fiance CAN be denied.

I agree with you 100% on this post.

  11. There are plenty of them along Le Thang Ton Street, by Ben Thanh Market. Rates are reasonable and rooms are quite large. I have friends stayed at these hotels before. The closest hotel to the Consulate which I have personally stayed for the past few times is Khach San Dong Duong (www.indochinehotel.com). It is located almost at the other end of Hai Ba Trung and Ben Bach Dang, behind Sheraton. It is almost walking distance to the Consulate. You can ask for bigger rooms to fit 2 adults and 2 kids. Hope that helps and good luck to you.
