  1. Hi I came on a K1 visa and married my fiancee within 90 days and filed I-495, EAD and parole. I received EAD and parole. Few days back USCIS has sent me a letter initially that my Application to register permanent residence has been transferred to California service center. Now they have updated Case status again on USCIS website saying that :The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office.

What does this mean! Interview coming up

I heard recently that anyone who comes on a K1 visa, and files I-485 according to guidelines and whose file is transferred to California service center is waived off interview in most cases right.

Well suggest me if I will have interview or no Interview?

So did you actually have an interview? I have similar situation..

    Thank you

  2. Hi, mine was filed in chicago on November 25, 2009 then it was transferred to california service center on december 23, 2009. exactly 6 months when i called the customer service line and they told me my application is outside of processing time then they gave me a service id number and told me to wait within 5 days for a letter for me to received from them to tell me about whats going on about my application, then it was over then i called again they told me to wait 45 days for them to process my application, and i cant wait that long, so now i already made the infopass and i will have to talk to immigration officer on June 17 in louisville field office because i want them to give me a details and whats really happening.

it sound unfair for those who wait for almost 6 months and keep us waiting.

    Hi, wow...

anything new after June 17' infopass??

Also, sorry for off-topic, but could you please tell me how to call the customer service line? (the only way I know is to call USCIS 1-800-375-5283 and then choose "change address" option, so you could talk to a real person...last time i did it they kind of emphasized that this was for change of address only, but still tracked my case for me...Just wondering if there is a better way...

    Thank you so much

    Good luck

  3. Hi, I hope someone can enlighten me on the following. I have just receive a letter in the mail on Monday from USCIS that my case was transfer to to CSC on June 2. Case transfer to CSC usually means faster processing and no interview. But today, when I go online to USCIS website to check on status update, it says the following 'The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office.' What does this mean? Does it means that my case was transfer back to the local USCIS office here (in Miami)? It didn't specifically said '....being processed at a/your LOCAL USCIS office.' Or my case is still pending in CSC? This is a little confusing for hubby and me.

    Hello,

I have similar situation (pls see my signature timeline). I actually thought that it meant transfer from CSC to my local USCIS...

    Any update on your case?

    THanks and good luck

  4. Hello again,

    ...

Is this normal procedure and possibly just getting worked up about something not worth getting worked up about? I just did my Biometric interview on April 4, 2010, and it stated it was for both my EAD and GC...

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I've just received the same update on my case as you did...Is there any news on yours? Just wondering.

Also I've noticed that in my case status USCIS page there are only these circles-steps above the text:

Acceptance - Initial Review - Decision - Post Decision Activity -Card/ Document Production

..do you have the same? There is no "testing and interview" step. hmm..

  5. Yes, you can. Attach a copy of the I-797C notice of receipt. That is the good news. Bad news? At this point you will probably still get the Green Card first, but it is FREE, so why not? You will have to do separate biometrics for the EAD. They may require a fee for this since it is usually done at the same time as the I-485. They will let you know.

I hope to get the green card by the end of the summer. I was mad at myself for overlooking the free EAD...but then...all things happen for better. It was like the first time I haven't been working since 17 years old..This "vacation" has been perfect for me to adjust to new country and my new role as a Wife:)

I'll definitely apply for EAD and AP now. Thank you Gary and Alla.

  6. All the information you are going by is wrong. CSC CAN make a decision, but does not always do so. About 30% of GC cases get approved without an interview.

Why not file an EAD or AP? It was free. I never can figure this out, why do people take "points off the board" and not fill out a couple of simple forms for free?

Thank you very much for your comment, I appreciate it.

Well...what can I say. I didn't know that EAD and AP were free if filed together with I485. Do you think I can apply for them still for free (if present USCIS $1010 receipt+biometrics confirmation)???

    Thank you

  7. wohooo received welcome notice (GC) in the mail today @ 3pm. it says here that i will received my GC within 3 weeks. no update with uscis websit still in initial review haist.

the date of approval is JUly 15, 2010

thank u LORD. thank u VJ

CONGRATS!!! I knew you'd get it any day after they "just removed the dust" from your papers as you said. Great news!

  8. Hello everyone,

The same thing is happening with our case. It's been transferred to CSC in March 2010.

I called NCSC (using ext#3 for "change of address" - if anyone knows any other way to talk to operator, please let me know.....) they said that CSC is now processing January cases.

But the operator also told me that CSC never makes the final decision and interview for family based AOS is a must. Therefore, according to NCSC's operator the next step after "initial review" will be interview invitation from my LOCAL office.

So confusing and frustrating....Obviously the operator did not quite know what she was talking about (judging from many people's successful stories with CSC)...

    Still I am left green-cardless (((

  9. Hello forum fellows,

When we learned that our case had been transfered to CSC we were celebrating! (in vain as appears)

Now it's been four months since transfer and three months since biometrics and absolutely no news.

I finally called the NCSC today. They said that CSC doesn't make the decision and they will send my case back to local office after initial review. Local office will then send invitation for the interview.

I've been reading VJ timelines and CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER usually means NO INTERVIEW AND FAST GC ISSUE (1-3 months).

I didn't file for AED or AP...Which makes the wait even worse.

Would appreciate ANY word of hope...or advice ))

    Please? :help:
