  1. I have the same situation, and here is my question: If I won't be approved on the interview day ? Can I use my AP to leave the country and come back ? I have interview appointment on August 31st. I do have my AP and I'm gonna leave right after the interview (same day). Any body got i-551 stamp ? Do we have to ask for it or the interviewer will stamp it automatically ?

    You have two options:

    1. They don't approve you right away, then your AP is valid and you should be able to leave.

    2. They approve your right away, you get a stamp and you are good to go.

  2. Hi Everyone,

We have a question and hope you can help us.

We had our greencard interview and got approved today. Yay! The card production will take approximately 30 days, the status update says. I DO have my advance parole card and will leave for Germany before I will receive my green card. Can I leave and come back in with my Advance Parole card without having my greencard, yet?

The interviewer at USCIS says, that the card means only that by leaving the country I do not abandon my AOS, but it does not automatically permit the re-entry, that would be under discretion of the officer at the airport in the US.

Am I ok? Or do I need some sort of additional documentation before I leave (on August 29).

Thanks for your help, guys, I appreciate it!

    Best,

  3. Yes for sure make an info pass. My husband was approved EAD and AP June 9th and his EAD card was never delivered as the Post Office sent it back as undelivered to address. I had to call USCIS and sure enough they just got the card back and now I had to fill out a service report as well and who knows now when he will get it.

Thanks for the reply! Do you know how long your husband had to wait to get the EAD in the end? I have an infopass on Wednesday, we'll see how that goes... thanks for your support.

  4. Please help me. Here is my problem:

I filed my I 765 as part of my AOS package in March 18, 2011.

I received the NOA1. After I had not heard anything from my work permit for a long time, I called USCIS on June 10th.

5 days later I receive a letter saying that my work permit was "approved" on June 13th, 2011, but that I needed to wait for my biometrics appointment letter. A couple of days later I call USCIS again. The agent on the phone tells me that my work permit cannot be approved without having my biometrics done. And he thought that was weird. But he said I would receive a letter with an appointment soon.

On June 20th I call USCIS again, asking about my biometrics appointment letter. They put in a service request for me. Today (July 2nd, 2011) I get a letter from USCIS saying that I allegedly had a biometrics appointment on May 13th, 2011, and that I did not appear. That letter never got to me. Also I had changed my address officially a long time before then, so they had the CORRECT address.

I don't know what to do. I will call USCIS on Tuesday of course, but I would like to get your advice and help.

What can I do? The people on the hotline never told me that I had allegedly a biometrics appointment. And I never received an invitation. I am devastated and frustrated. Can you help me out there?

  5. Hi everybody,

Maybe you can help me with this...

I tried to check in earlier online for my flight tomorrow from Frankfurt to San Francisco. However, the airline won't process my check-in and asks me to present my documents at the counter, despite the fact I punched in my visa number (K1). I have a return flight booked for the end of august (family event in my home country). Is that a problem?? I do not need ESTA right? I am travelling on a visa, so I don't need a Visa waiver, right? Sorry, guys, I am getting nervous and so excited to see my love tomorrow again... (L)

Thanks for all your help in advance.

  6. Hi everybody,

I have a question and hope you can help me.

In form I 485 for AOS Part 3 Question 1b it is asked "Have you EVER, in or outside the United States been arrested, cited, charged, indicted, convicted, fined, or imprisoned for breaking or violation any law or ordinance, excluding traffic violations?"

I had an MIP (Minor in Possession of Alcohol) in 2002, however I was never on probation for it. Would I have to answer YES to that question?

Thank you for all your help in advance-

  7. Hi everybody,

Getting really anxious over here, I want to ask for your advice.

I had my interview on February 10, 2011. They said they would process the visa within 4 days. Now 11 days have passed and nothing has happened. I will call the embassy today. But I am really worried, it is not going to get here in time. What are your experiences?

Thank you so much for your help in advance.

  8. Hi everybody,

hopefully you can help me out with my questions. Your help is appreciated, I did not find the right info in any of the other threads :-(

    Question 1:

When I studied in the United States 2001-2003, I received a SSN which enabled me to work on campus. This SSN is in my original (maiden) name. When I will get married, I would like to change my name. How can I change the name on my SSN since it is already in my maiden name and has existed so many years in my maiden name?

    Question 2:

Also, WHEN do you change your name in your country of citizenship (in my case Germany)? Do I have to do it right away or can I wait a couple of months? Can I do it at the embassy of my home country in the US?

Thank y'all sooooooooooo much for your help in advance.

    Thanksthanksthanks again!

  9. Hi everybody,

I have a question and maybe some of you experienced members can help me out. I received pack 3 last thursday and sent off my documents the same day, they arrived Jan 28, 2011. How do you think it'll take to get my interview appointment?? My consulate is Frankfurt, Germany. Thank y'all so much for your help in advance. Just missing my honey and wanting to be in the US ASAP. How are y#all doing with the process? Best to you all, Dodobird!!!

  10. Hi everybody. The NVC told us our approved application left the NVC on January 13, 2011. When I called the embassy last thursday (January 20th) they told me they had my information electronically, but had not received the paper documents from the NVC, yet. The lady at the embassy told me that they would send out Package 3 whenever they receive my paper docs. Today is the January 26th and I still haven't heard from the embassy. How long is the typical waiting time at the embassy till you receive pack 3 and 4? Can I do my medical already? I do have my case number.

Thank you so much for all your help in advance, guys!

    love, Dodobird*
