  1. same thing happened to us this week unfortunately. Both of us have simple backgrounds, I have excellent credit, a steady job well above the poverty level, my husband starts his new job tomorrow. We did everything requested for AOS, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what they were asking for. I am trying not to worry because we have nothing to hide, we live with my parents and they have written multiple letters on our behalf, we've asked our close friends to write affidavits for us, and we have pictures galore. We share a bank account, he is on my health insurance, car insurance, you name it. It's just a pain to have to do all this, we had absolutely no problems when we applied for the K1. I am assuming they lost our file :bonk:

  2. I wish I could give you strong advice, but we are very confused ourselves!! We are lucky enough that he got his RAD, and just a few weeks ago got a driver's license. He was able to get it without his green card, IL allows with social security card. He was also able to open a back account with his visa alone, and just updated the bank when he got his soc sec card, have you received that? What I would do, is just send them as much as you can. Explain to them in writing that you don't have any of those requests and tell them why, they can't fault you for that!

As far as the wedding announcement, we didn't do that either! We are going to have his family and friends over when we can afford a big traditional wedding. I don't see how they can decide what constitutes proof, so what if we didn't send out announcements? Send other proof of the wedding instead, like pictures, or letters from people who attending, notarized.

Ironically we are en route to his second medical! They gave us the same bs that we need to send it, saying they didn't get our forms. We also sent a copy with AOS. we tried calling but no one could give us a concrete answer as to what they actually wanted, so we're sucking up another $200 to just get it done again.

Also asking for things we've already sent like pay stubs. Its maddening. Im going to send all my proofs from the ororiginal I129 packet, because a lawyer said that may help prove our case.

I don't get why we are being harassed like this, we've done everything they've asked and more! My heart sunk when I saw the long lists of requests. Hopefully this helps! We are going to tackle the 'to do' list tomorrow!

  3. ours is insane.. we were thinking it was for the medical, which is what it seems like is typical for a lot of people, and we were right. Nut they are also asking for 2 more pages of proof! They want wedding announcements, letters from us stating our 3 favorite characteristics of each other, letters from parents and siblings, more pay stubs, the list goes on. Some of the things they are asking for would have been impossible to get in the first lace, such as his driver's license and pay stubs! We had a freak out about it on Monday but will be getting to more hours of work this weekend. We also spoke with a lawyer who said we probably got stuck with an 'anti-immigration immigration' lawyer. It's all very frustrating because now I am sending in things I sent in with the original I129f application!

  4. So we just got a text and an email stating that we are getting an RFE for our AOS paperwork. I'm not sure why, and I'm not going to stress about that until I get their letters in the mail.

My question is... has anyone here received an RFE for this? If so, what was it for? I'm curious as to the things they would be asking is all. :)

I randomly decided to check our status on the uscis website today and there it was, RFE. I have no clue what ours could be for either! Keep me posted as to what yours was.. he got everything else just fine, AP and EAD!

  5. Our interview/approval was just about 2 months after our NOA2, and my fiance will enter the US 2.5 months after NOA2. I definitely agree with the others that it is highly unlikely you will make it for your wedding, which is very unfortunate. Hopefully you can get some money back! Good luck

  6. If you got the required shots recorded at Knightsbridge, then you won't have to go to a civil surgeon for AOS paperwork.

Let me get this straight.. no need for civil surgeon if on your DS-3025 it states the vaccinations you got before your medical? ..i.e- do you do anything with that I-693, or just send in a copy of DS-3025? I've seen conflicting responses and I am trying to get ahead to prepare for AOS

  7. So I think we are overreacting a bit, but my fiance still has yet to receive his interview letter, which is March 28. He called the embassy today and they gave him the email code etc, so hoping to hear back and see what can be done. When he asked what would happen if he didn't get it in time, the person on the phone said something about rescheduling the interview!! Is this something we should worry about or if he has not received can he get in anyways?

I don't get why they just can't email you a letter in the first place!

  8. Can someone direct me to the extortion hotline to pay for the visa? I somehow can't find it on here, and I want to take care of it ASAP. (I am the USC, so I'm referring to the $16 phone call I need to make)

  9. I just wanted to give you a heads up tho, my now hubby and I went through the london embassy.. and it took them about a month to send us the K1.... They told us when we paid for the courier that it would take a week..

and we had NO issues with the interview or paperwork.

So, just dont get freaked ( i know we did when the k1 didnt come in a week)... it will get to you.. and if doesnt within 4 weeks.. id inquire..

How do you have any idea then, when to book your flight? :bonk:

  10. Nope. It makes no difference. And the medical appointments can be gotten much faster than the interview. Even when they are super busy, they can usually get someone an appointment in about 2 weeks.

I am a little confused. Should we wait to book the medical until we know London has logged our files? I guess a better question would be on average how long does it take between being sent off by NVC to London actually logging the file.. Then we can book it with a time frame in mind so it is logged when they get the results.

    Thanks!

  11. so I understand all the forms needed in packet 3... question is about DS-2001. I understand this is sent saying you are ready for the interview.. can this be sent even though you have not had your medical? I.E, your medical is booked, just hasn't happened? I couldn't find any info on this and it's probably an obvious, yes, you can send it, but I wanted to double check!

  12. Then you should have documentation to explain it. (The instructions tell you this, too!)

My fiance has had a few seizures in the past and is currently on medication for them. Should he get a letter from his GP? Or can he just explain in a separate letter? ..this isn't something which they could deny his visa for is it? If he does need to get a letter from his GP (which I am thinking is the case), should it just explain his situation and that it is not a major problem?

  13. I need help too!

I currently, as of August 2010, am making enough money to meet the requirements to support my fiance. Before August, I was not making much money in my job as it wasn't salaried. Should I still send in my 1040/W2s from last year?

I obviously plan on getting a letter from my employer stating my salary, and copies of the last 6 pay stubs. So there's two proofs there. Would it just be unnecessary or asking for trouble sending in tax forms that make it appear I don't make enough money? I'm torn. Advice appreciated!
