  1. I work for the Department of Defense as a Navy Civilian. Do I need an employment letter or can I just submit my most recent SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, which lists everything about my employment on it, including my start date, pay grade, work location, etc. ?

This is in reference to my Affidavit of Support package.

You should be able to get an employment verification letter through online personel center that includes everything on letterhead...send it to yourself and print...in just minutes.

  2. The only option you have on the DS260 is "spouse". I called the 1-800 number on the website for help and they told me to pick the answer closest to the correct one, which is "spouse". Fiance is not an option on the form.

About the vaccinations...K1 applicates are not required to get vaccines. You will have to get them when you file the AOS after you are married.

About the trip to the US...I'm not sure of the answer to that one. I guess you just put the truth.

  3. I have one comment about the USPS....I sent some paperwork certified mail to Mexico from Alabama. 2 weeks after it was sent my tracking said it was in New York and left the country...2 weeks later it was in California and then left the country again. Explain that!

  4. In Mexico you do not return any forms to the consulate prior to the interview. The forms you need are on the consulate website under K1 visa information. The letter you get refers you to the web site:

    http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html

The letter is an open appointment for any working day from 8am to 10am, except holidays and administrative days (second Wednesday and last Monday of each month).

The process is different for different countries. This is for Mexico. Hope this helps and good luck!

  5. Hello,

I received our hard copy NOA 2 today, and it stated that "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions abou visa issuance..." I thought all of these petitions go through NVC. Do you get a notice that it has gotten to NVC or what? Is this a standard statement listed on all K1 Petition NOA2s? Just need to know what the next step is. This is a little confusing.

    Thanks in advance for replies!
