  1. So, i became a us citizen back in november. I am planning to move back to Europe and join the army there (job security) In order to join the army, my country doesn't allow me to have dual citizenship with any other country, so the US citizenship has to go. I am moving there in 2 weeks and I am afraid that the process is going to take longer than 2 weeks. Do you know if i can do this process abroad? So much for nothing... Sorry, this might not be the right forum. So much for nothing...

    Thanks.

  2. hi all once again.

i requested a passport last week and asked to have it expedited. i am going to be away for a break for several days so my question is:

when you have your passport expedited, if you are not at home: do they leave it in your mail box? is a signature required or do i need to go to pick it up at the local post office? i was wondering if after 3 attempts or something they return it to the processing center.

what kind of envelope do they send the passport and the naturalization certificate in? is it one that might fit in your mail box? or is it one of these super stiff envelopes?

    thanks for your answers!

  3. if this is the right forum or not, but here is the question.

I got naturalized one week ago. I am planning on applying for a passport next week.... Do you know if you can apply for a passport at any regional passport office? or do i have to apply at a county office/post office?

i am going to have it expedited since I am leaving the country in less than one month - do they issue the passport faster at the regional passport offices than at a county office?

    thanks for your answers

  4. why some jurisdictions allow the io to do the oath, while in others you need to wait for ever and ever to have a fed judge preside the ceremony? since uscis works at a federal level - shouldn't this practice be consistent accross the us? does anybody know why?

do the oath = administer the oath

  5. I think we already answered. Like I said, it doesn't look like they update it after it gets to Testing and Interview. I have seen many people in this forum and others, where it seems to be stuck in Testing and Interview even after oath is scheduled and completed. I have been scheduled for oath next week and my status still shows Testing and Interview.

    vijay,

you are correct. When i check the uscis site and enter my case number it says that it is in the process of testing an interview. When you create an account using a log in and your own password, most of the time whenever there is a change or an update in your case, it says "Last updated" and a date when your case was (somehow) updated. what i was wondering is if the page gets updated once they send the n445....

    am i making sense?

  6. hi all,

i took the citizenship exam on august 30. the lady who interviewed me said that i passed and i would receive a letter in the mail to attend the ceremony.

does anyone know how long it would take more or less in general terms? one week? 4 months? i took the exam in st paul, mn.

    thanks much!!

  7. hi all,

i have a question for you.

i filed my n-400 back in march 2010. on june 2nd i got a letter stating that i should be present at the mpls office to take the interview on july 7th. Since I had already made plans to visit my folks abroad, i had to reschedule the interview. Good cause was approved and a letter saying that I would receive a future notice was sent to me. As of today, my roommate has told me that i havent received anything in the mail. does anyone know how long it takes to have the interview rescheduled? one month? one year? :(

    thanks for your replies!
