  1. Hello Muslimqueen,

I am so glad to find a fellow Palestinian on here! I am actually from America, but have been living here in the West Bank for 5 years.

Anyhow, I was wanting to know how to fill out my I-864 when I have not even been employed for the past five years.

Is it enough to give them a letter explaining unemployment? Because I have not even filed taxes for the past 5 years, and haven't needed to.

I already have 2 joint sponsors, but I was mostly concerned about how I was going to have to fill out my AOS.

    Thanks a lot!

  2. Hello Visa Journey members and guests,

I was wanting to know if I need to not only have an Affidavit of Support for my immigrant husband, but also 2 more separate affidavits for my 2 underage stepchildren.

    1) Will my underage stepchildren be included in the affidavit of support for their father (my immigrant husband)?

    2) Do the underage children need separate affidavits of support?

    Thanks everyone.

  3. Dear Visa Journey members,

I was wondering if it is possible for me the US citizen to get any kind of welfare after I have brought my immigrant husband to America? I mean as long as the welfare was in my name and not his their wouldn't be any negative effects on our joint sponsor right?

And I am also wondering if anyone knows if the 5 year waiting period for medicaid is waived for underage immigrant children?

    Thanks for your time!

  4. You can leave as soon as the I-130 is filed, but to be on the safe side, stay until it is approved. If your consulate is one where you go in in person (as opposed to mailing the docs), then this should be no problem. You not being there will not influence the speed of visa approval.

So do you suppose we will still get the benefits of direct consular filing (DCF)?

Thank you so much for your reply!

  5. Hello everyone.

I have not been employed for the past five years and am petitioning for my husband and 2 stepchildren.

    1) Will I have to fill out the affidavit of support form?

    2) If so, what will I do about my tax records? I have no tax records for the past 5 years.

    3) Will it be enough to have 1 joint sponsor that meets the 125% of the poverty guideline?

    4) Can I have more than 1 joint sponsor???

Thanks in advance for your answers, they are very much appreciated!

  6. Hello I am a US citizen and have been living in Palestine for the past five years and I want to file IR-1 petitions for my husband and stepchildren of 5 years. I am planning on traveling ahead of my husband to the US.

    1) Other than the initial appointment for filing the petitions will I at a later time be needed physically at the Jerusalem consulate?

    2) Will it take any longer for him to get his visa if I traveled ahead of him?

    3) Do I need to stay in Palestine with him until he gets his visa?

Thank you for your time in answering my questions.
