  2. Folks,

Completed my interview at Norfolk today. Hardly took 10 - 15 min or so. Very good experience. At the end of the interview, the officer gave me a letter for oath ceremony on 13th Oct. Thanks for everyone's support and good luck to all of you waiting to complete the process!! No documentation other than PP, GC and Driver's license was asked. I had an update to my employment which the officer copied over to the application form (the original I had sent with my N-400).

  3. You get a change of status online and an email/ sms (depending on what you've signed up for). I got a notice letter with the interview date and time a few days after the online status change

Hey, how do you know when the case is transferred to the local office? Do you get a notice or do you just see a status change online?

  4. Update from pn_ric - Recd details about my interview!

  5. I just read this topic and I checked my NOA. There is a number at the top and bottom which are different. One difference is the $ symbol and the other difference in my case # is only the last two digits. However, the two numbers give me back the same exact status on the uscis website. I was hoping one of them would tell me that my case has been transferred to the Local office but it does not :-(

add my name in to that mystery as well:))

I also have 2 case number , the one at the top of NOA with NBC * and at the bottom another number starts with NBC$....When i put the top number as my case number online status shows "initial review" there is no RFE step existing.. but when i try the bottom number and replacing $ sign with * sign then my status shows that RFE was sent JULY 21st which I haven't received yet:crying:.

  6. I got my FP (walk-in) done in Norfolk. They took my picture too. No hassles at all. Took me 10 min or so for the entire process. They had me fill a short appln and to be consistent with my N-400, I wrote (since there was no option to circle) "Black" for my eye color. But the guy that took my pic and FP checked Brown in the drop down box. I asked him abt it and he said it was ok (as they are pretty close) and he thot my eyes were any way brown (they do have a shade of brown but I've checked it as black every place I needed to). I justified to myself that it was perhaps the closest option he had in his drop down menu on the comp. My qn is - does this inconsistency with the N-400 create any issues?? Thanks

PS: - i dint get any response when I posted this on the july 2010-N400 forum, so reposting as a separate question..

  8. Not decided whether I will try a walk-in FP or wait till the appt date since the appt date is only a few days away. I recvd a SMS and email that my RFE (FP) notice was sent on 7/19. It was mailed on 7/20 and I received the letter on 7/24.

  10. Hi Goran:

I see you are a Richmond, VA resident. Where was your oath ceremony? Thanks,

    pn_ric

    Alan,

I think you're right. It's an extremely relative question, and also a very personal question. I've been lucky enough to have experienced many cultures on many different continents, and to me, the U.S. is as good as it gets. All countries have pros and cons. Their weights, I believe, depends on what you value as an individual.

I'm taking the oath on July 15th. I will remain a Swedish citizen, and therefore have dual-citizenship. However, I am fully aware (and willing) to renounce my allegiance to Sweden. In other words, if the U.S. ever declared war on Sweden, I will fight for the U.S. Which, I don't think, is a particularly bad idea considering the military powers of each country <img src="http://www.visajourney.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Of course, Sweden will always have a place in my heart, but I would never have sought U.S. Citizenship if I was not willing to be fully loyal to the U.S. and accept the U.S. Culture.

    Cheers,

    Goran

On what basis ? A certain Austrian gentleman thought it was a good idea to trumpet his country and people as superior in every way - and look where that ended up.

I will be a dual citizen of the U.S. and the U.K. but claiming superiority over other countries is not a necessary qualification unless one is Rush Limbaugh fan. Mitt Romney says the U.S. is the 'finest country in the history of the world', but a stroll round downtown Seattle at midnight (dare you), might have people wondering about that.

On the basis of the ratio of doctors to patients (4 times as many as the U.K.), and the quality and cost of care, France for instance, beats the U.K. and the U.S. easily - so the criteria is important

So in my book it's ok to point out some aspects of the U.S. and say they are superb (and I do), but fauning over America as some kind of heaven on earth is a bit yucky and not realistic unless one comes from a 3rd world country where becoming an American (or a citizen of anywhere in the West), really is salvation.

On the basis of the quality and gravitas of the citizenship ceremony, it seems the US has some way to go, and it sounds like a sausage machine with little regard to the importance of the occasion to the individual . It would probably have more solemnity to do it at the end of the interview on a one to one basis with relatives present then

    USCIS service center - Texas

Local District office - Norfolk, VA

7/6/2010 - N-400 Mailed application via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation (Packet sent to Dallas Lockbox Facility)

    07/08/2010 - Application packet delivered

  14. Hi,

I sent my N-400 appln to the Dallas Lockbox facility via USPS priority mail and added a delivery confirmation. Today, I have an update on USPS that says "Notice left" and basically they attempted to deliver and a notice was left. I want to understand if USCIS will get my application packet at all or will the packet be waiting for someone to pick it up? Anyone have any experience using Delivery confirmation and priority mail to send N400 to Dallas Lockbox? I sent it to the following address

    USCIS

    PO Box 660060

    Dallas TX 75266

I did not write "N-400" on the USPS priority envelope but have indicated that on the manila envelope inside the USPS priority envelope.

    Thanks,

    pn
