  1. I'm not going to touch on the previous posts, but I wanted to comment on this. I read a post here about someone saying it "wouldn't be fair" for VSC to wait for CSC to catch up. Which makes me wonder.. what really is fair?

    (Hypothetical) If you filed in July, and the other center is approving petitions that were filed in September, but your service center is behind... would you consider it 'fair' for the other service center to pause their petitions until your center catches up? That way, all petitions would be approved 'in the order received.' Right? But we have people saying this 'would not be fair' to wait!

    Again, hypothetical, if you filed in July and your service center was months ahead of the other, would you consider it 'fair' to stop and wait? (End hypothetical!) It's food for thought!

    The thing is.. in this situation... they are saying they do petitions in the order they got them. Some say it's not fair to wait for those petitions that were filed earlier, and others say it's totally fair to wait. What do you think? ('You' being general here, not aimed at anyone in particular!)

    The bottom line for this entire process: Be patient. Your time will come. We all need to kind of deal with it because there are going to be some petitions approved out of order. The ONLY way to survive this process is to be patient and to look at 5 months as a short amount of time in comparison to the rest of your life. I know it's hard. I'm in the same boat. But so many people could stand to look at the positives instead of the negatives. It would make waiting for USCIS A LOT more bearable!!

    What you are referring to and what I am referring to are two separate things. You are fairly new so you haven't been following my earlier posts. What I am talking about is not about playing catch up. It's about governmental processes and equity and efficiency from a political and economic standpoint. Thank you but it is inapplicable to my point.

  2. Actually they did call and inquired many times but were only told to be patient and wait. They did, they never complained openly about it, they dealt with it (he went to visit her again, unplanned) and now they are together and are very real and very happy.

    You can read our timeline to see our history. A year ago CSC did the same thing as you are seeing here. No touches until a day before the big approval announcement. You can only be patient. If you don't like the process, then I trust you vote in our elections and only elect candidates the support your views. The alternative is go live in another country or find another spouse. Sorry if this is so cruel but that is the way it is. One needs conviction and backbone and maybe some are not cut out for that.

    Oh puleeze spare me. As a taxpayer, US citizen, and fee payor, I have the right to expect equal service. It has nothing to do with backbone, conviction, blah blah blah. I don't expect to be put on the backburner for an indefinite amount of time nor do I need to "find" another spouse because they are putting emphasis elsewhere. IF everyone was processed equally then you would hear no complaints from me BUT to accept someone to be processed in 10 months and another in 2 months yet pay the same fee is unacceptable. Yes, we can only vote people out of office but the bottom line is I have the RIGHT to say what I want. Patience is nice but so is equitable processing. And for the record, I would live in another country for my fiance if it came to that. The question is would you?

  3. Definitely I'm losing faith!! I don´t know WHY VCS is so slow with the K1 process? I'm losing my mind waiting and wating for NOA2, I'm seeing that they're giving noa2 to august fillers and nobody from July!! :protest: Is anybody with the same problem?

    I am a July 12th NOA1 person and I am soooo sick of this process. They are giving everyone around us answers while we are stuck waiting. I would even settle for an RFE if that meant getting someone to do something with our file. I can hardly bear reading this site anymore. I only do to see where things are in the process.:angry:

  4. trying to stay positive here in "sunny" scotland but struggling!! currently snowed in which is just immense!!NOT!! Rachel called uscis twice last week.. first time she spoke to some ignorant jobsworth who gave her nothing.. second time she spoke to a lovely lady who understood our frustrations but just gave her the 5 months speech.. Our 5 months is up in a couple of weeks and I really hope they have an answer for us. Personally I think the whole process is completely wrong. I know a lot of people on this site give it the old "they do say 5 months so hold on" etc but Im getting thoroughly p****d off at seeing people who petitioned after us getting approved. Can I add that Im delighted for these people.. im just annoyed at the lack of communication and consistency in this whole process. We all put our faith in this and decided to do it the "right" way rather than just moving to the states and applying there. I feel like Im being punnished for doing the right thing!! Maybe I should have added this to YGR's brill vent thread .. Im usually really upbeat but its getting to me now. I miss my beautiful fiance, I worry about her and want to look after her. Thats my job and im frustrated that im not being allowed to do that.. thanks for listening peeps.. id be lost without VJ.. promise ill try to be more positive..

  5. I think our case is in London by now, but I called the State Department and it hasn't been logged yet. I wonder how long it takes them to log it into the computer?

    I'm impatient! Tom's medical is on Thursday and I spent all night going through the rough drafts of his packet 3 forms. We're finishing them up on video chat tonight.

    Should I keep calling the State Department daily asking if our case has been logged, or should I contact the embassy directly?

    At least you have gotten that far. Imagine what we are feeling like over here still waiting for an NOA2. If I didn't love my fiance so much I would have abandoned this process long ago. I think many of us are getting the short end of the stick (and I am putting it nicely).:angry:

  6. I no longer use credit cards now that debit cards operate in the same way. No interest payments, items completely paid for, and no billing statements are wonderful! When I go on vacations, I can come home relieved that there are no credit card bills to pay for at the end of the day. I am actually enjoying being credit card free.

  7. To my knowledge, everyone (or almost everyone) who has been touched recently has been approved on or the day after they saw the touch. Not many people are seeing the website get updated, including myself. If I was you (assuming you're the USC), I'd be checking my mailbox for the approval letter!

    PS you did get a touch, that's what it's called when the Last Updated date changes. :)

    They touched us three times straight and I have yet to see anything. I am getting quite upset seeing people all around me get approved. It could be they are having trouble with our background checks or something (who knows) but it upsets me that we are still sittling in limbo. Touches don't mean a thing if you ask me.

  8. The thing is he has his money to spend and his savings. The savings is easier access so he takes it. The last time he replaced it after he eventually went to the bank. And he is going this morning to replace what he took yesterday. He called again just now we are talking about everything. Trying to patch things up. We are trying.

    Don't forget the issue of drinking. To drink all day is not good. Just keep a level head about the whole situation. Don't let dreams cloud reality. Not saying he has a problem but it could lead to one.

  9. No not moving at all. Trinidad mail is unreliable. Its been raining heavily and the mail men arent working so no packet 3 yet. He is so frustrated he went out and drank all day. Spent some more money he was suppose to b saving and after telling me a bunch of things then sleeping woke up early this morning called and broke up with me. So im thinking about going out there for a few days because this is a decision we have to make in person not over the phone. Im going to try to convince him to hold on till the interview cuz ill be out there for that. If not i wanna go by tomorrow. Im trying to be patient and hold on but its hard we havent seen each other in a while and he is giving up. I cant let that happen. We have been through waaaay too much.

    It seems like he may have other underlying issues. This pattern of drinking and spending savings has been frequent and may be a tell-tell sign of things to come. Don't just think with your heart on this matter. I mean honestly many of us are in the same boat but we aren't drinking constantly and going out spending money we should be saving. Don't take what I am saying the wrong way but I have seen this happen to people around me and the results are not always good.

  10. I won't even say it worked out for the best or look on the bright side or anything like that because when you are hurting, sometimes those words just do no good. I used to hate it when I was going through something and people told me that. Most couldn't even relate because their lives were fine. Bottomline, you have the RIGHT to feel the way you do. Wasting time and money and emotions to find out the love you gave really was not reciprocated back. Who knows maybe she thought she loved you at the time but this process takes its toll on people and can change them and change their minds. Just take it a day at a time and heal at your own pace. We all respond differently to pain and don't feel guilty if you don't bounce back as fast as some want you to. Keep moving forward and doing what you do. When the time is right, you will get better. Long distance hugs! Stay strong.

  11. Nobody is pushing anyone to the "backburner". They've had a 64% increase in applications compared to this time last year. That's why things have been slowing down.

    They allocate resources according to volume and time required to process each application. I-129F's and I-130's take 20 to 30 minutes each, and constitute about 20% of the non-naturalization applications. For September alone, this constitutes over 42,000 man-hours of labor just for I-129F's and I-130's.

    For those who suggest they bring in temps - this is only possible for positions that require only clerical skills. An adjudicator who processes I-129F's and I-130's needs to be trained in the relevant immigration laws that apply to each petition type. They also have to be trained how to examine documents, like birth certificates and marriage licenses, to determine if they are legitimate. They also need training in using the various computer systems used by USCIS, CBP, Department of State, and various law enforcement data bases. Pause for a moment and think about how long it took you to understand all of the requirements you need to meet, and all of the documents you needed to submit, and then multiply that by 100. You can't just hire random people off the street and put them to work processing visa petitions. :no:

    I understand the time it takes thus I suggest the training of select individuals for such times as needed. These people could consist of professionals who do not have to work consistently, etc. Again, my issue is being charged the same for unequal service. If there is an increase then those individuals who have been properly trained during slow times can be of service. None of the facts mentioned above address the fact that we all pay the same and yet, depending on what's going on, receive unequal service. I do feel that there is a backburner effect when some of us are sitting in storage while others move on depending on the luck of the draw. Thank you, though, for your thoughtful response and facts. Your knowledge is always appreciated.

  12. Colin&Lori, it sounds like you kind of take it personal when people diss USCIS because you also work in an office. The fact is, no one will ever be happy no matter how long or short the wait is. For anything. Our society wants things done yesterday and are willing to throw money at it if they think it'll make it faster.

    Last week for fun I checked out the very oldest K1 page on this forum, I think it was from 2006. Back then, it only took 30-45 days for the petition to be approved. People who were at 20-odd days were complaining it was taking too long. :wacko:

    You can't beat 'em and if you don't want to join 'em, just ignore 'em.

    I agree. I would have gladly paid more money to expedite our case. Like you said, people will "throw money" at making the process move faster. The USCIS is juggling fees to make a dollar. All they need to do is offer more premium processing and if people can afford it, they will jump at the chance. Heck, maybe the fees earned from it would allow them to hire more workers.

  14. We have the good fortune to live very close to VSC and have several friends and acquaitances that work there (big employer in this area). They are just regular people. They process lots of paperwork, much more than K-1s and I-130s. They process what they are assigned. There really is nothing more to it than that. They come to work, sit in their cubes and chew through petitions for 10 hours and then go home. They typically do 20-24 per day, each. One of our friends that works there is a Russian woman that came here as a K-1 and is now a citizen.

    There is no mystery or secret to it. If anyone ever worked in an office that processes applications, insurance claims, etc...it is the same.

  15. might not be able to increase the number of workers due to a company budget (although am very sure there would have money set aside for moments like these to hire tempory staffing) which is what we did to clear our backlog but then that comes the process and training these said people to get upto speed with the work that there will do

    i do understand where your coming from :) and me myself would LOVE to see a decrease in the time of having to wait :)

    As a taxpaying citizen AND a person who has to pay fees, I don't think we should be pushed to the side as much as we are for other "immigrant" issues. My tax dollars AND extra application fee should give me some say in how things go and as far as training goes: "hogwash". I work in an envirnoment where we train contractual individuals and call them as needed. Train people for emergency situations such as this and quite pushing U.S. citizens to the backburner.
