  1. Hey Brett welcome to the madhouse :) I'm an ex Gold Coaster (lived in Arundel, worked in Bundall) - have been in the USA since end October so any help you need feel free to holler!

And massive congrats T&I - isnt it the most wonderful feeling in the world to hear APPROVED

Oh my, I was on the edge of my seat at work waiting for a text from him. I turned to co-worker and just had the biggest smile and said, we got it!!!! We did a quite small happy dance since we were at work.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Fantastic news :) When's he heading over? Any plans?

oh yea he's ready, bought the tickets tonight, December 17th LAX WOOT.

  2. Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd introduce myself. Name is Brett and I'm living on the Gold Coast. New to this whole procedure and my fiancé in Portland OR is about to post our I-129F application this week. Glad to see so many positive outcomes here and makes us feel that we should be ok unless we stupidly forget something in a package along the way. I'd just like to thank all of you for sharing your experiences on here, we've found them invaluable as well as heart-warming to see people bought together despite some interesting challenges.

    Take Care,

    Brett.

*Edit: Oh yeah Chris and Mara, we too met in WoW :)

Me and Dale met on wow too:-) Misha. I seriously think that should start doing promos for a dating service lol. my thoughts to you is to be patient. Its alot of hurry up wait and wait some more. But the people on here are heaps of help. Just cross your T's dot your I's and checks everything over many times. You guys will get it :-)

  3. I have to admit I'm a little shocked that worked... So he checked his receipt and it says "US Non-Immigrant Visa Fee" on it and the amount as per his interview letter right? What did the post office dude say when he told him the function number? lol. I'm seriously shocked.. I know i shouldn't be 'cause it's my post and it's my review from AGES ago.. but i'm still shocked... lol

He said that he told the guy the function number and he was confused, and then he figured it out and said "ah non-immigrant finance visa" lol, Dale checked and everything was ok. Its just funny that Dale had to tell him what to do. The price came up for him though, he didn't have to tell him. Dale says thank you too.

  4. He needs to tell the post office "I want to pay the US non-immigrant fee please". They will (or should) know what to do. They will ask him the amount because on the computer it comes up as $0.00. So they enter the amount that he has written on his interview letter. You keep the receipt and take it to the interview. DO NOT lose it :S

** edit - if you want to be especially ####### here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/206016-australian-beneficiaries-packet-3-to-interview-date/page__view__findpost__p__3191047 where I wrote my fee stuff, I wrote that it's function 828 (or something like that) on the AusPost computers. Could be my town specific, but can't hurt if he's desperate and the post office people REALLY don't know what they're doing to tell them that.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. He just went and paid for it. The guy had no idea so Dale gave him the function number and had to tell him what to do lol. But it is done and paid for

  5. Congratulations you're almost there :) Will you plan to reunite in the US before the Christmas holidays or after?

    So excited for you!!!

He wants to be here before Christmas, if all goes smoothly (crossing my fingers) he should be. So very happy. I emailed them to check status and they replied saying it wasn't yet reviewed, about 3 hrs later we got an email telling us of his interview time.

  6. I assume you mean 5th Nov, not 11th May :D It honestly shouldn't be too much longer till he gets the lovely email telling him his interview date and that he has to pay the immigrant visa fee etc. Very exciting :D

Don't worry about the petition expiration (again I assume you mean 2nd December, not 12th Feb) because it's automatically extended if something is going on with your case. I never once even thought about expiration dates. Only since coming to VJ did I find out that people freak out about it... The expiration dates are if you don't reply, or your case doesn't move along.

Good luck for the wedding and congratulations!!

Thank you so much!! Yea I am a yank so I meant nov 5 and dec 2 lol. I guess its gonna take Dale awhile to switch to thinking like that. I didn't know that either, I thought that no matter what it all had to be done by that date. That takes a little pressure off. Thanks :-)

  7. :bonk: Me and my man are just on pins and needles. He sent packet 3 in on the 11/5, because it took such an insane amount of time for him to get my stuff in the mail and even longer for his police check to get back we are totatly stressed. Our petition expires 12/2, how long does it generally take to get an interview date after you send packet 3 in. We have verified that they did recieve it. I can't wait until this is over. Just craziness.
  8. :) Thanks. I have been trying to get him to join this site, but playing our game is the most that he will do with a computer. Yea the tax thing will be rough, I just got a full time job this year, before that I was a stay at home mom, so all the tax returns were just my ex's income. Hopefully we just get a nice person that will be ok with a letter from my HR person and paystubs.

Well, He has got his medical booked and police check booked this week....pheeew. The lady at the physcians office talked to him and told him it could all be done. So now he is calm again. As for me...I have got a letter for my HR person to sign, all my paystubs and now just wondering about the taxes. I looked back and I can provide 3 yrs of taxes but they are filed with my ex. I am wondering if that would be an issue at all. Our divorce wasn't final until this year. Other then that all is good and everything seems to be movin along

  9. It can be done in 4 months time - my NOA2 was 14 July and my interview is tomorrow. The Australian police certificate only took 8 days to arrive and the medical results were one week after the testing and that was one week after booking...baby steps :)

As for the affidavit we didnt provide bank statements at all - 3 x years tax returns, a letter form his employer and the paystubs. Im not sure if non filing of taxes last year will be an issue though - one of the others will have to answer that one.

:) Thanks. I have been trying to get him to join this site, but playing our game is the most that he will do with a computer. 10. LOL no its probably not going to help matters :P Im trying to remember what my letter from the doctor said and as far as I recall it was bring your passport, 3 photos oh and the letter from NVC which has our case file number on it. Maybe that's what his doctor is referring to?

OK I will tell him that, right now he is convinced that there is no way this can be done in 4 months time. I just told him to take a deep breath and then it will all be over. I have already sent a copy of the email that we got with the case number and the emails. He is calling today to clarify.

Me myself I am a little concerned about the affavidavit of support, I had to close and then re-open my account so I don't have a year of statements, and I didn't file taxes last year cause of unemployment. I know I make enough for the two of us, but will a letter from my employer, bank statements and paystubs be enough?

  11. I have just finished my medical here in Sydney and thought I'd share a few things with everyone which might save a small bit of money and hassle.

    1. They will ask you for your immunization records. Now, unfortunately the receptionist who I spoke to specified that it had to be your childhood immunizations (what is referred to in Australia as the "Blue Book"). However, you might have other immunizations, from other times and places in your life. I suggest getting your GP to run a full blood work of all immunizations (in Australia, you can do this through the Medicare system and not have to pay for any investigation). This is highly recommended, I've lost a bit more money because I had to get immunized for things I'm already immunized for, but don't have paperwork to prove! Plus, this means you can skip the blood work part of the medical (unless the doctor decides otherwise, of course).

They want your records for childhood (if you can) otherwise whatever you've had in the last 10 years. I think the full blood works by your GP will help considerably.

    2. Make sure to bring your case number to the appointment, your passport, and any other relevant documentation they will ask for. The Dr. that I saw also stipulated that I had to buy an express post (500g) envelope so that they can mail it directly to the embassy.

    3. You will retain the original copy of the chest x-ray. Do not lose this! You may need it as proof at your port of entry should they wish to ensure it was done properly.

    4. You will need to pay for the blood test and the x-ray directly to the places they send you to. You then pay a final bill to the doctor for the consultation and any immunizations he gives you.

    Hope this helps!

I have a question, my man called the dr to set up his medical and then they emailed all the stuff. Well in the email it says to bring the form that Sydney sends you in packet three, but the email from Sydney says to get it from the doctor. Where did you get your form for the medical

  12. I had my medical before the packet 3 arrived (I had my case file number from the NVC) and the only thing I took to the medical were my passport, 3 passport photos, my vaccination immunity letter and a couple of things from my dr regarding previous medical issues.

The dr had generic forms at his office which he filled in. I then left his office went and did the blood and xray tests and a week later I got an envelope in the mail with medical stuff in it from him and then I sent this and the balance of other forms and items in the checklist in packet 3 back to the consulate. 10 days later I got an interview date.

I will tell him to ring them back and ask, the email says this 3. your MEDICAL EXAMINATION INSTRUCTION LETTER, which you have received from the American Consulate but packet three says to get it from the doctor. LOL this is not going to help the fact that he thinks no one knows what the hell they are talking about

  13. Ladies and Gentlemen of VJ, I present to you - my entire life:

    40921_421816210546_605320546_4967394_7780232_n.jpg

    lol, thats awesome.

Ok question time: After you send those two papers in to Sydney (the part 1 sheets)do they send you back other paperwork by mail or email? He spoke to the physcian about the medical and they sent him instructions. Says to bring a form that the american consulate should provide. But in packet 3 there was no medical form.

  14. Yeah I know!!!! Mine was 91 days - longest most drawn out 91 days of my life lol! If you follow the links and instructions off the packet 3 email the forms are pretty self explanatory - holler if you need any help though as I've got photocopies of all mine here ready for the interview :D

lol, already have a question, i have printed all the stuff for him to fill out, the ds-230, I know it says send part 1 asap, but there are 4 pages, does he really just hold onto the the other 2 pages that say part 2 on the bottom?
