  1. Anybody know about this procedure?

    How long take this proccess?

    Thanks,

Did you ever find out any information about the follow to join procedures?

Hi...are you doing a follow to join visa? I have my appointment for my fiance to come from DR on August 13th and im trying to find out what I have to do to put on the follow to join status. His son is 9 and we want to bring him in 8 months.

Did you ever find out any information about the follow to join procedures? I am in the same boat.

  2. I want to know which one of these do you do?

Do I, take the sheet to any Banco Popular branch in the Dominican Republic to pay the non-fundable visa application fee of the equivalent of US$140.00 in Dominican pesos and an additional non-refundable fee of US$15.00 (the equivalent in Dominican pesos) plus applicable taxes per applicant.

    Or

Pay $210.00 the day of the interview in the Consular Section.

    Or Both.

Please advise me cause appointment is the 1st week of October.

    Thank you.

  4. Sorry, I meant NVC not NVS in my last post.

There are a few forums for stuck in AP@NVC under the sections:

"National Visa Center (Dept of State)"

    & "Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)"

For all us stuck in this bureaucratic situation.

Here is the original quote someone sent me. I hope this helps. It could be a number of things.. been married before.. that often causes them to check the validity of the divorce... govt security clearance holders sometimes get checked out... and name checks that came up in USCIS also get redone or additional checks done at NVC... in any case.. its usually less than 4 weeeks to get done now...

  5. Anything over a few days, and you probably have been flagged for additional processing at the NVS. I am in the same situation with them. It seems to be a more in-depth background check, but there is no way to know for sure. You have to call and talk to a real person to find out if your in the "additional processing" status, since their automated system does not report on 'K' visas. They won't tell you anything more though. After waiting for the NOA2, now we have to wait another 2-5 weeks for the NVS. It's really frustrating.

I was in the same boat and someone explain to me you get flagged for various things. So relax and just wait it out. It is a long process. I know it easier said then done. I will see if I can find that old post.

  6. I received my NOA2 via email on 7/1, and it said it had been mailed on 6/30. Due to the holiday, I just received the hard copy yesterday. How long should I expect it to take for the NVC to receive my file? I know I should expect a delay from the holiday for them to get it as well, but what's the realistic waiting period there? They're telling me it takes 3 weeks to 3 months for them to receive it, which doesn't sound at all like the norm according to timelines here.

    Any ideas?

Well, after 24 days at the NVC my case finally was sent to the embassy, so hopefully we can get an interview date in August. I hope my prayers are answered.

Thank you for your help and your response. It was very encouraging. This is a great site so you are not left in the dark without knowing what is going on!! I did not know the information that you stated to me and sure enough, a couple of the issues you mentioned do apply to me so that may of been the hold up. 8. Our file was at NVC for "additional processing" since June 14 as well, but I just found out that they've sent it off to the consulate on June 30 :) I'm not sure why certain files are selected for AP, but it sounds like if NVC tells you your file is under AP, you can expect a standard processing time of 2-4 weeks, and they're pretty good about sticking to that time frame. So your file should be out of there soon. Good luck!

  9. Does anyone know why the NVC would have my file for over 2 weeks? I see for most cases that the NVC only has the file for a couple of days. I have called a couple of times and they keep telling me my file is receiving some additional processing. What could that additional processing be? Does anyone know?

  10. I have been doing alot of praying that I did all my paperwork properly since I did it all myself without a lawyer. The date on my NOA1 was 4/8/2010. I received my text message today and got online to check my email as well. WE ARE APPROVED!!!! 6/18/2010. I can't wait to receive the NOA2 in the mail!! I am praying for the rest of the April filers. God Bless.

    Congrats!!!

  11. Wow, very fast! Congrats!

My NOA1 date is 4/21 so this gives me some hope that I'll hear something about my NOA2 within the next week. I would love to receive the good news while I'm visiting my fiancée.

Well I have done some checking in some of the other forums and have discovered that some other people who have received their NOA2 either on that same date or a day or two after. So it is coming soon for you I think cause I hope a RFE would have been asked for by now.

  13. :D:):D:) I felt like I was obligated to sign up to #1 thank all of you for all of your helpful incite to the process and #2 to tell you that I just checked my status and as of June 16th my NOA2 was issued. I have been looking at this thread from the start and sometimes I feel like I was stealing information. With that said, my NOA1 was issued on April 22nd. So all of you who are still waiting please keep your head up. They are working on it. My wait time was less than 60 days. Now I have to look up some other posts about the next step. I was so worried about the NOA2 that I forgot about the the rest of the steps. Thank you so much all!!! Best of luck!!! :P:D:)
