-
We have already gone through the case assessment stage and are at the place where we need an attorney for the adoption.....father is unknown and mother has abandoned...We are aware of the steps and process now...Just looking for a referral for an ADOPTION ATTORNEY in Lagos Nigeria
-

My husband is scheduled for interview for AOS from K-1 on October 31, 2011....have heard nothing about EAD yet...Is the EAD necessary when he gets the Green Card??? Can he work without it? worried about not having the EAD by now

Upon advice of attorney, Marc Ellis,Esq. we submitted a letter requesting the visa application for the children be withdrawn...We informed the embassy of the basic details regarding our beliefs that the children were biologically related...we indicated that it our intention to pursue adoption proceedings as soon as possible...
I was able to reach the DNA lab here in the US who agreed to hang onto the DNA results until we were able to get our letter of withdrawal to the embassy...God's blessed angel at the lab for sure.
We remain heartbroken and my new husband has been shaken to his core...With God's divine intervention, I am trying the best I can to support him...
Please pray for us and if any one has any Nigerian adoption info...please forward
With great thanks,
firstlove2

Oh My, God gave me sleep last night...and some for my husband as well! What a blessing to come online and see the wonderful outpouring of thoughts and concerns from all of you. God above knows how much it means to me and my husband.
Please lift us to the heavens in prayer that God will provide guidance and direction...that the children be protected...that God's plan and will prevail....through it all we aill give him the praise and glory
I need time to read and incorporate the information...please don't stop with you thoughts and advice
Thank you

Yes...plan on tackling the adoption through Nigeria...absolutely. tried to search for Marc Ellis contact info but haven't found him yet...
know that the children will be denied as it stands currently....Really hard to talk to them and hear their tiny voices...innocent and unaware of the happenings.
For those who pray...hold us up to the heavens for God's guidance and intervention
Thank you

Thank you,
we processed our k-1 visa and fiance is here in US and now we are married....AOS, EAD,and AP filed recently...waiting for all that comes with adjustment of status.
the children are being processed through Nigeria embassy as they were attending private school there while staying with his family....they have no one but him...
he is here in US...gratefully. I can't imagine him going through this alone....
I am concerned about immigration...everything else was in place...birth certificates...custody papers, etc....
I just can't imagine that the legal system now would not be able to help...
Thank you all for you posts....

it seems your comments indicate that you do not understand...the mother handed the children over years ago and has not been around for their care...not even in the country...
the children literally don't have any contact with her...so we are not trying to remove children from their mother....
we are, however, trying to maintain the children with us...all to God's glory
-
we talk to the children and all they know is "daddy" and now know me as "mommy"...
what would the psychological impact be on the children to now never see or hear from "daddy" or "mommy" again....
anyway. enough of sentiment...anyone have perhaps any referrals for attorney's in Nigeria...
Thanks again and God bless you all

Move on??? It's easier to said than done
He love the kids as his own.
Adoption is another option but it will take a loooooong process.
-
Thank you for your reply...
It is difficult to think of innocent children as "rubbish"...
if anyone is a parent then perhaps can understand now finding out that what you have always known as yours...really isn't...
Devastating!! at the least....
My husband has been the victim of lies and misplaced compassion....his own responsibility for sure...
The children are innocent and we wish to protect them.
-
well the children are not his...that is fact now...since mother is out of picture and he has been only one caring for them...
we thought about pursuing legal action that would lead to adoption then bring them to US...
any thoughts...yes, currently, sadly the children will not get visas
-
Well, fiance completed DNA results on the children and the results came back showing the children are not biologically his...this is a terrible blow to him as he has been taking care of the children for now 8 years and the children know him as father...embassy will receive the results soon...fiance has custody papers and birth certificate indicating him as father....what to do now??? Help.
As you can imagine...fiance is devastated and angry that the children's mother has lied to him all these years...
Before DNA, he was meant to return to embassy after the results to continue visa processing....don't want to screw up the children's chances of coming to US...
-
Not having any luck...need civil surgeon that will fill out the vaccination supplement...all want to charge $400 for the complete exam....
Need help fast.
Thank you

Hey all,
Well our hopes are this is the last hurdle to jump...Interview for the children went well but DNA testing requested...scheduled for 18th...
Anyone with experience in this? How long for results to get to embassy and MOST IMPORTANTLY...is appointment set for return to embassy to process the visa...??? Help...
Thank you
-
Patoch, you will have to check the embassy you are going through for your interview to see if they allow the petitioner...We, are going through 2 different embassies...one for my fiance and another for his children who live in another country. London allows the petitioner into the interview...Nigeria will not allow the petitioner to attend the interview... Good Luck
-
Yes, my fiance was approved in UK...but children's case to be processed in Nigeria....so case is being transferred to Nigeria and an interview will be set for the children.
Thank you for your reply

Hello everyone....
somehow the link to download forms from the US embassy Nigeria site is not working...
Can someone or a million please send me a working link to the interview forms...that would be the forms included in the "Interview Preparatory Packet (K1 and K3). The embassy info on this site lists the following forms needed for the interview...DS-156, DS-156k, OF-167, and I-693....Have been able to find all those forms EXCEPT...OF-167....cant find it anywhere....don't even know what it is...
All help would be appreciated,
Grateful,
Firstlove2

Hello there. The saga continues...
Fiance was grilled at interview, I was there! Thank God...really. Anyway finally approved after resubmitting police certificate. Now case transferred to another embassy to process the children who are residing with relatives in another country....DOS stated that case transferred via "Registered Diplomatic Pouch"...they also stated that it could take up to 12 weeks for it to reach the embassy....
Time is of the essence as my fiance's passport and visa will expire on August 8....
ANYONE out there know of the Registered Diplomatic Pouch???
You all are my help and I appreciate any info....
Thank you, Firstlove2
