  1. Sooo... I got my K-1 visa today, my flights are all booked. I'm flying Birmingham - Dublin - Chicago. Apparently because I am going through Ireland I need to provide API (Advance Passenger Information). It's pretty straightforward- choice between US Passport Holder, Landed US Resident and Non-US Resident BUT the next step asks me to give my country of residence. Since I am travelling on a K-1 visa and moving to the US effectively indefinitely, would I put my country of residence as UK or US? Technically I am still a UK resident until the AOS, I guess. Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm going to call the airline tomorrow to confirm what I should put on there, but thought I'd try and get ahead of the game.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi all, bit of a bump as I didn't want to start a new thread. I'm wanting to play it safe when I move to the US, fiancée has insurance with her work that will cover me once we're married, but she lives 3 floors up with no lift, and I don't want to find myself falling down the stairs and end up a few grand in the hole for coverage.

I'm looking at basic emergency health insurance coverage from the Post Office in the UK, it would be £190 for up to 66 days, which ought to cover the time between my arrival and our marriage being accepted by her employer. Does anyone know of any cheap alternatives, either from UK or US-based providers?

    Thanks

  3. Hi all, first post (I think...). My fiancée is a regular here, gap1, or something like that ;)

Anyway, I am preparing for the imminent arrival of NOA1 (it IS coming, I am sure of it. Soon! Honest! I hope...), just sorting out my police check and vaccinations.

Does anybody know what vaccinations are required? I spent a year in the US on a student visa 2006-2007 and I figure any vaccinations I had for that will still be valid, but I want to make sure. I called my GP today about getting a record of my shots and they were less than helpful, I have to book in an appointment with the nurse, just because they haven't put my records on their electronic database yet... sigh. I mean, I love the NHS and all, but it's terribly creaky sometimes.

So, uh, yeah. Shots, what do I need?

    Ta!
