Hi, can someone tell me there are restrictions on carrying cellphone/bag (folder/bag with all the documents) with us? My interview is on monday. I am taking the train to chicago and won't have any place to leave the phone unless they have some sort of lockers there?!

Jurisdiction over your application is based on where you actually LIVE, not what you list as a residence or reliable mailing address, also immigration sometimes runs background checks that will reveal other addresses, prompting questions.And yes List all your residencies in chronological order from the most current backwards. All, for the last five years.

you know, its not about the jurisdiction or not wanting to tell all addresses. But many questions mention '5 years'. For example, the address, the travel. It specifically asks the number of days you have been outside the US / travels outside US in the last 5 years. But I came only 3 years ago- am at a loss how to go about answering this. I count 365 x 2.. for 2 years prior to coming to USA?

Hi guys, this is a question for people who are applying based on 3 year residence/,marriage- since the form asks for last 5 years of residence and travel history, did you really submit the addresses and travel dates of even prior to coming to US..(honestly cant remember the dates or exact addresses).. or did you just leave those extra boxes/sections- blank?

Everyone..I received my GC today..! Here's how it went..

April: 17 received a plain paper letter stating, my application is approved and I should get the card in 60 days. No update to the case-status in the website

May: 30 3-4 Texts, all stating case status updated. On the website, it said, On May 30th, we ordered production of your new card.

Jun 4: Again a flurry of texts that the case has been updated. The website said, On June 4, we mailed the new card to you and to contact customer service them if I don't receive it in 30 days.

Jun 6: Got the card via a surprisingly big size -USPS Priority flat rate envelope.

I had a surprise text today from USCIS today that my case status updated. Website says, my card has been ordered for production, to allow 30 days to be mailed.

So this is the USCIS actual approval?! The plain paper mail I got earlier with the approval, was from USCIS office Chicago and has no value?!

It would be sad to lose the job because the HR's lack of knowledge. Aren't they obliged to accept an I-551? I would request her to consult her bosses or the legal dept if she has one. Also if the job is worth it, offer to get a letter from maybe an attorney or so who can explain it to her.

Boy, Have I been away...The letter probably came on the 17th or the 18th. It has approval date as 12th.

I didn't have any updates on the website either and thought it was some RFE!

We tried to do a walk-in biometrics at the Naperville, IL ASC for our AOS, and they did NOT let us do it. So, if you would have to go to Naperville, I suggest don't waste your time and just wait for your appointment. I don't know if doing an early bio really speeds up the process that much, if at all.

So I recieved my biometrics paper today and I was reading online that some people don't wait until the appointment they have but they go like 10 or 15 days earlier. Just show up. And they do their biometrics. Is that safe to do? Can I do that to or should I just stick with my appointment that I have? Will walk in fasten your application a little bit? How do you know if the office you are assigned to can do walk ins or not? I live in louisville ky by the way

Hi Felix! Here's what I think: ditch the lawyer! Is he/she charging $700 on top of the regular filing fee or is that figure inclusive of the filing fee? Either way, it's money you don't have to spend. Most everyone on VJ is here doing it themselves from start to finish with the help of this site's guides and forums. If your case was particularly unusual, then a lawyer may be able to help you navigate some of the difficult issues, but if your case is more cut and dry (it sounds like it is), then the ROC is definitely something you could handle on your own; it's not very complicated. Why don't you take some time to read the guides and browse this forum to get a full picture of what will be required of you? I think it will quickly become clear to you that you can handle it.

Totally agree with leen.. no brainer! the forms and instructions are written in laymans language and you just need to be honest!

Yes, you are supposed to notify USCIS of any change in address. Also, your sponsor is supposed to do so as well. Form AR-11 for the GC holder, form I-865 for the sponsor. Find these on the USCIS website.

At this point, submit the forms for the change to your current address. Also use the current address on the I-751. There should be no problem.

I entered US in Dec 2010 on CR1 and we have lived in two different locations after it. Now- as we were going to file for I751 for removal of conditions on residency, one question has me startled. Was I supposed to notify address changes to USCIS?

Now- I have to list out the addresses where I lived last 2 years. Will that be a problem cos I never notified USCIS on adress changes (if at all I was supposed to)

and zeban, I got PP and the packet today..ie, on the 20th (Interview - 18th); but i was in the 'coverage' area of blue dart. Consulate handed over the pkt to VFS on 19th and Blue dart picked it up same day-evening after 5 o clock. It was delivered in bglr to me at 1.30pm on 20th. So this is good news for you..

People I received the passport stamped and the 'sealed envelope', but i see that packet's corner is cut and stapled.. is that hows its meant to be(for identifying its conetents as docs) or is this a problem??!! :help:
