  1. Hi to all..

Congrats on your PINK !!! I am sorry to maybe ask a silly question, or to hijack this thread but... Is there some new blood in the consulate in HCM city ?? Wow !! If this is true, it would surely be nice if things could change for the better there. Even if it was just a little. I am only just starting this "quest" for a visa for my future wife. But like many others here, I will do anything to be with the one I love. Anything !! Just the thought of the odds being a bit better makes me come down a notch or two on the stressometer.

    Howdy,

Not a silly question at all. There is some new blood. The day Tien interviewed, on August 6th, a new guy started heading up the visa section. The best part about it is that he is Viet-Khieu. I am pretty sure I saw that mentioned in another thread somewhere on here right around when Tien told me about him. Here is a link to the article she sent me.

  2. Howdy everyone,

Tien's had her initial CR1 interview on August 6th and got blue for ex-husbands address, timeline, and notarized history of where I have lived in the last 10 years.

We gathered that information, and for good measure I contacted my Senator as well. We submitted the information on September 7th and got pink. We picked up the visa one week later, and are flying to the US in the morning. (I flew to Saigon for blue sheet response).

I want to thank everyone for all the helpful information you share. I also wanted to let you know I think things are changing for the better at the consulate. I stood outside the day she went, and saw quite a few happy faces coming out. Tien noticed alot of pinks when she was waiting inside. Prior to going inside, I noticed the majority of the sheets around us were green, not blue, which I think is a good sign.

The new guy is making some progress, so everyone please hang in there. We had quite a few red flags to overcome, so it can be done :)

  3. Howdy,

Now that we are married, I was wondering if I can get a longer term visa than the 3 month tourist visa I have been getting for my visits. I vaguely remember hearing about a 6 month or 1 year visa being available for spouses. Is this true? I am not Viet-Kieu, so maybe its not available to me?

    Thank you

  4. Hi all,

Our case was closed on June 4th. I called NVC one time after the second week of June and NVC told me they have not scheduled my wife interview date.

They said the Embassy was backed up and that we didn't make the June or July interview dates. They told me may be we will make the August interview dates.

However, I believe NVC is just covering themselves with that statement. I have recieved the email today saying my wife will be interviewed on August 6!

So, for all of you who is waiting, NVC works pass the second week of each month setting up interview dates.

The last thing I would mention is not to bog them down with calls...it will only delay the process.

Call once or twice because as you probably know, it takes several tries to get through.

Amazingly the visa process as been pretty speedient for me...just make sure you read the instructions and submit the require documents.

Congratulations! We are also interviewing on August 6th in Saigon. Hopefully it will be a lucky day :)

  5. I need some inputs from the community. I had my consulate interview with my fiancee back in Feb 9th, 2010 and the response we got was it's a "Sham" in return was denied. I am a US citizen and my fiancee is Cambodian. I was introduced to her by my co-workers (family member). Has anyone else gotten a "sham" and received a second chance with the same petition or did you do something otherwise?

The consulate officer deemed it not a bona fide due to the fact that she didn't speak enough english, didn't know what a COO (Chief Operating Officer) does at work, couldn't name my golfing buddies names. She anwswered everyone of those baseline questions with the correct answer, but couldn't go into details, due to the fact that he conducted the interview in english through a 2 inch glass window with a horrible mic that was no better than a drive through McD's. I need some insights into this. I've spoken with many attorney's and they have no clear answers. it's been going on 4 months since the interview and no letter back from the embassy and NVC as to what I can do. HELP. thanks people

Sorry your dealing with this. We went through this last fall. We filed a K-1 application in Vietnam. We had the fraud label slapped on us, and hearing it was like a punch in the gut. We got married and filed for a CR-1 in January. Definitely file the rebuttal, even if you decide to go the CR-1 route. From my experience, and everything I have read, the CO's in high fraud countries are suspicious of K-1 filings. I think following through and getting married helps prove to the CO that you are a legitimate relationship. Good luck in whatever you decide.

  6. Howdy everyone,

First off, thanks to all of you for sharing so much great information. This site has been a huge help, and hearing others struggle with the same issues has helped me keep some of my sanity :)

My question is about interview email. NVC completed our case on June 4, and we still have not received an email for the interview date. Should I be concerned? What is the typical wait time for Saigon?
