  1. I don't understand this. I see many posts where USCIS lost the medical results. If this happens to me, I would demand USCIS pay for a new medical/immunizations/etc. It is their fault they lost the medical. A K1 Visa cannot be issued without a valid medical exam and that medical exam is good for one year to include the AOS. If USCIS refused to pay for the medical exam, I would speak to or write to the head of USCIS. IF they did not respond, I would immediately file a complaint with my US Congressman/Senator and also write a letter to President Obama. In my letter to the US Congressmen/Senator, I would demand that USCIS pay for the medical.

    Has anyone tried this?

They just lost mine too - they tried to blame it on my POE being small, and said I should contact them to see when/where it was sent. I did, got all the details, including the name of the person who signed for it. Called USCIS back; they said to put all that information on the RFE and send it back to them. Keeping my fingers crossed that they 'find' it and I don't have to do it all over again. That's a big expense that I don't need!

  2. It's about time they changed procedures with these, yaknow... How come everything except the medical get forwarded? They don't ever seem to "lose" the rest of your I-129F stuff do they? How's the medical get separated?? Maybe I don't understand what they do at the POE with the brown envelope *shrugs*

My POE swears they sent the entire package within a week. USCIS says they don't have it. I've emailed Medisys in Montreal (where I did my medical) to see if I can pay for a second set of results; still waiting to hear back from them.

  3. Hello,

Received a RFE from USCIS as they have lost my medical. It must be in the abyss of files but heck that is a real shame.

Besides taking a new medical, what are the other options? The 1-800 is useless so I am not even gonna think about it. Infopass?

    It sucks

I just got an RFE as well for my medical. I called the 1-800 number, then he FINALLY transferred me to someone higher up. He said that it looked like it had never been sent to them from the port of entry, and said before I call back to call my port of entry and find out when it was sent. Why not say 'we lost it'. Obviously everything is all right or I wouldn't be here! Argh... frustrating!!

  4. hello i just wonder if anyone here tried to get drivers permit without green card?my green card still processing but my ead its already approve and need to wait for 30 days to get it n mail so now im just thinking if i can take the written test for drivers permit just to print the site says my card is production and also bring some reciepts from uscis, theres anyone tried this way just cant wait for my card n mail.i tried to call my dmv office here but no one answer

I got my license in GA a month after I arrived, with nothing from USCIS. I just provided mail showing that I now live here, and my old license and passport with visa in it.

  5. I apologize if this is in the wrong forum - I had my K1 medical in Montreal at Medisys back in November. I'm now in the US on my K1, and have just received my EAD (yay!) and am in process for my AOS. I'm also in the process of finding a family doctor. When the file on the CD from Medisys was viewed, it has someone elses chest xray on it. Yikes! This seems like a serious issue with Medisys.. someone else out there has MY xray on their disk. Any idea what I should do? Should I contact Medisys?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  6. Sorry to hear that. I had my license too here in GA, never had a problem getting it few years back.

Your situation happened to my filipina friend too. She tried two different DMV office and they said the same thing that her status has not been updated yet eventhough she already has her 10 yr. green card.

What she did was she went to another DMV office and took the test and got her license. I think you should try it .

I didn't have to wait for EAD or Green Card to get my license here in Georgia. I went in, said I needed to 'transfer' my license from Canada. They got me to take the written and driving test, and issued my license. I showed my K1, marriage certificate (as I was changing my name) and a piece of mail with my 'new' GA address on it. Didn't have any issues!

  7. You can call the US Consulate near you, and they can look up to see if it's been shipped. The numbers given to me are:

    Calgary - 403.800.1194

    Halifax - 902.982.2191

    Montreal - 514.400.2591

    Ottawa - 613.800.0917

    Toronto - 647.955.3736

    Vancouver - 604.800.2794

    Quebec City - 418.800.1751

I tried calling DHL directly but they said they couldn't track anything without the waybill number (which I believe begins with "S").

    Good luck!

  8. Check the dhl.ca site or give them a call maybe they can search via your passport number... or call DOS to see if it has been issued yet.

Call your local US Consulate (someone provided me with the numbers in a previous post in this same thread). You never know, your visa might already be sitting at your DHL office!

  9. Canadiandggal: Very true! I'm sure some DHL locations have more pickups than others.

By the way, Tim/Erin, the person I spoke to on the visa info line told me that you need to select "reference number" not "waybill" for that reference ID to work. The person I spoke to at DHL told me that the reference ID wouldn't work, even when the package is available. Go figure.

The 'reference'number you see is not the DHL waybill number. When (and IF!) they post it,it will appear on the left column. Mine never got posted. I called my local US Consulate and they kept checking for me. They're the ones that gave me the waybill number (I think it starts with an 'S')and I used that to check on the dhl site. Mine came in a week after my interview. I had picked it up and it still wasn't even showing on the gov website as being shipped.

  10. Don't panic, I had the same issue. When you call tomorrow ask if its okay to give them your passport to track it. That's what they did here in Vancouver. It didn't show being shipped either and the reference number ,like you said doesn't correspond to the Waybill number they DHL need. It took the 5 business days to get it so if the holiday isn't counted you "should" get it by Wednesday :)

WAHOO!! It came today!! Checked the website at lunch, still no tracking number. Called the consulate and they said it had been shipped and gave the tracking number. Looked it up on DHL site, and presto it was here! Checked the immigration site again tonight (just for 'fun') and they still haven't updated it with a tracking number.

Thanks again, to all the VJers, for your useful advice! Leaving Canada on Saturday!

use the reference number when calling

I've got this number; it's for the US consulate in Halifax. They say it still hasn't been shipped. There is no reference number to call DHL as it hasn't been shipped yet.

  12. do you see your name and passport number? If you do, your reference ID will be directly to the right of your name. :)

I see *that* reference number, but the sample on the consulate website shows a different reference number for DHL that shows underneath, and specifically refers to it being a DHL reference..

  13. Log onto the site you signed up with for dhl http://www.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/ss_country_welcome should say summary or account information such as your name date of birth and there should be a reference number. You can then use this number on www.dhl.ca in the track box for reference numbers or call one of these to track via phone

    grats on your approval

No reference number there. Maybe it's too early? It also says 'no interview schedule' and lists the next available date. Is this because my interview is already done?

  14. I got my passport photos done today for the medical/interview (had to pay for three sets.. argh) and they printed the regular size. When I got home I checked my packet and it says they need to be the 2 x 2 (US) size. Is this going to be an issue?

  15. Chex mix, Slim Jims, Orville Redenbacher Smart Pop Kettle Corn, Pucker, and Diet Mountain Dew. My brothers always enjoyed tshirts/hats with college sports teams. I was (and will be again!) in Georgia and got a bunch of Bulldogs stuff. I'm hoping to do some shopping here before I move so I won't have to ship so much.

  16. I loooove to go to the Biodome each year. It's right in downtown Montreal, in the old Olympic complex. Really nice way to spend about half a day. If you like Greek food, I'd recommend hitting up Arahova for some amazing souvlaki and other types of Greek food.

    J-

I wanted to go here too, but they're currently closed for renovations until December 4th!!

  17. Oh that sucks! It was really neat, I hope they reopen it before you get there, too!

I just remembered, the huge underground mall is another must-see in Montreal. It is joined with the subway system and it's pretty neat. It's a good option if it's raining out when you're there.

Thanks! I'll definitely check that out!
