  1. Thank you very much for all your inputs. We called USCIS. It is suggested that employers can check with USCIS. That's what I told my employer. I hope she will really do so.

I work in a big company. I think if I do not "remind"them, they would never noticed that my greencard is expiring. I was doing my part to prevent any unwanted consequences. Although my husband thinks I should not have reminded them.

If she refuses to verify, I will have to do in Infopass to get I-551 stamp. This is my plan so far.

Thanks everyone again! Happy new year!

  2. That is what I think I know, raymaga. But when I asked her for contact information so that I can fax or mail in a copy. She did not even want to see the NOA1. I work from home.

I am looking at the I-9 Employer handbook right now. She is right that on the list of documentation that employers can use to verify an employee. The extention letter is not on the list.

I just spoke to USCIS on the phone, they adviced me that I am all fine. I am going to talk to my employer again. I hope she understands.

  3. I have read somewhere on the forum that I can continue to stay in my job with NOA1 (the 1-year extention of green card). I had received it sometime ago. I did not bring it up until Dec because my green card expired in the end of Dec. I volunteered this information to them. Hoping they can update my information. I did not want to lose my job when they found this out and I had not informed them.

Today, I received an email from my employer saying, "The Department of Homeland Security no longer allows us to use a receipt for application or extension." NOA1 says I can work and travel during this time. Plus I am not changing job! I am so worried right now because I may lose my job in 5 days. I am trying to find some thing from Immigration website to prove that I am right.

They mentioned that they needed to update information on I-9 form. Does anyone know what that is? Does anyone know where I can find the relavent information to show my employer?

  4. My I751 was received on Oct 3. My check has not been cashes yet. Plus I got to know the service centers are overwhelmed.

It only worries me more. It is more therapeutic to talk about it here than keeping it to myself.

Now I can think of potential problem of my petition:

    1. The date on I751: At the end where we need to sign and date the form. Since I filled out the form before I print it out at last. I typed in the date. Then my husband and I signed it. I do not know if the date by the signature has to be hand-written. Does anyone have any experience about this?

    2. I had my name completely changed when I got married. I have a document from the court. I submitted it in AOS. For some reason, I did not think I needed to submit it with I-751 because it had been submitted before. Now I am worried. The name on the greencard is completely different from the name on passport.

    3. My name on the lease: My mom-in-law (the landlord) used my name "Rebecca (+maiden name)"on the lease. Everyone knows me by that name here. But this first name plus my maiden name was never used officially. The name on passport is a translation name from chinese name. Since that name was never official, I did not put it on the I751 as alias. Now I think it may be a problem.

  5. To be exact, we do not have much evidence in the 1st year after I got the green card. We were living in my mother-in-law's apartment where there was no lease. It was month-to-month. My hushand had been living there a couple years before we got married. There was no lease to start with either. All the bills at that time were all in his name. The only things with both of the names are basically registration of the car, bank statements, insurance policies, pictures and greeating card during this period of time.

We then purchased a house. We have been in the house for 9 months. There are a lot more evidence now than when we were in the apartment. I think a lease is quite a strong evidence. I am thinking of asking mom-in-law to write something proving we were staying there. But I have never heard of using a "letter" instead of a lease.

To sum up, we have much more evidence in the 2nd year than the 1st year. I think our evidence is sufficient. Would the immigration think there should be more evidence in the 1st year?

    Thank you very much!

  6. I am preparing to file removing conditions. I have a lot of bills and documents with both of our names to be used as evidence. I need to make copies of them. My All-in-One printer can make copies. The copy is printed by inkjet. I figured it is easier for me to make copies at home rather than at a copy store.

Does anyone know if copies that we provide as evidence need to be conventional Xerox copies? I do not know if they accept it because the copies can look like computer printout.

    Thank you very much!

  7. Also I did print the HTML page out and I got down the confirmation number. I just want to be really sure that they got it. I look at the USCIS webpage about AR-11 again. It does not mention any notice sent to filer at all. As some other members said, those who filed AR-11 by paper form do not get a confirmation in mail.

I do not have case pending right now.

  8. I started the same topic at the beginning of Feb. I filed AR-11 online on Jan 13. It has been over 45 calendar days and I have not got any confirmation in mail. I had all my mails forwarded to the new address. I read about this new online feature in an article and it says that a confirmation would be sent out to the filer with 45 days. I wonder if anyone has gotten that already. Thanks!

  9. Has anyone tried the new feature of filing AR11 electronically? I did it I think it was the 2nd day that this feature was made available on Jan 13th. So it is a very new feature. I got a print-out in HTML format and a confirmation after it was submitted. From article that I read about AR11, USCIS should send out a notice in 45 days.

Then I sent out I865 the next weekend. I received a notice that I865 had been received right away. Now I am a little bit worried. Although 45 days is not up yet, I do not if that new feature really worked. I thought it was good to use because it saved me some time. I should have filled out a form and send it in instead.

How long does it your guys to receive a notice that AR11 has been received?

    Thank you!
