  1. You can't at least fill in what visa you're applying for?

Anyways, since you did EP, make sure you bring the AOS and IV packages, so:

    -I-864

    -tax info

-original/certified copy of beneficiary's birth certificate

    -original/certified copy of marriage certificate

    -original police certificate

    -two passport pictures

    -DS-230 (don't sign or date part 2)

As for tax info, only the most recent year is required. You don't need to have the last three years. Is it a transcript you have for the recent year or just the 1040?

i just have proof from my accountant that years 1 and 2 have been filed. year 3 (most recent) i have actual return. is that sufficient?

  2. i also saw in a thread something about pre-post stamped envelopes for dhl for the montreal interview but didn't see anything about this in the guide on travel.gov. do i need these?

Not sure where you're reading that, but yes, the beneficiary needs 2 passport style pictures (2 inches by 2 inches).

And for the medical, three passport pics are needed.

  3. thanks saylin.

yes no timeline, sorry. never added one as needed to be anon. for employment reasons. have stopped, started process so mine is not a normal timeline. we're doing IR1 for my spouse as well as 2 boys.

medical on feb 13th. interview on march 2nd.

yes we did EP. so we need to fill out hard copy of ds230.

    need to fill out dhl.

what about tax transcripts for previous three years? i have one return. two previous years i have proof i've filed but no returns yet. will that be sufficient?

    thanks as always.

  4. We finally have our interview date. Just curious if there is anything I should be aware of outside of the normal (be on time, bring all the documents used in previous stages etc)? For example, how does the DHL/shipping of the visa work? Do I sign up before hand? Do they take my info down at the interview? Anything else along those lines that I need to do in advance of the interview??? REALLY don't want to overlook anything now that we are so close.

    Thanks

  5. just to be clear. i, as the usc, don't need to be in montreal with my wife and 2 boys correct? perfectly fine if they show up with all the docs and do the interview adn then join me in the u.s.?

just want to be 100% sure. :)

thanks saylin for all the help - you've answered other posts and i used your guide quite a bit throughout the process. glad it's almost over. :)

  6. I missed the cutoff for the 1st/2nd week scheduling for Feb by having my cases approved Jan 11.

Hoping that this week or next we get early March interviews.

Anyone know if they consider this week the first week of Feb? Or is it next week? Or better yet has anyone been scheduled in Feb for March for IR1 interview in Montreal?

    Thanks.

  7. I just noticed on the latest CR-1 interview report for Montreal, that the first document asked for is the DHL signup sheet.

Not sure what this means. Can someone clarify more on how to get one?

We have already registered on the Visa Information Service web site, registered for Loomis/DHL service and selected the preferred local delivery office for delivery. All of this is confirmed when logging into our site. Do we need to print out any proof of this registration? Where and what do we print out for our interview?

    Won't be long now.

    Thanks!

i'm jealous. your case complete 1/3 and interview date of 2/6!!!??? mine was done 1/11 and not a word yet. best case scenario is news within a week or two for an early march interview. but even then i'd be 8 days behind you on approval and a full month behind you for an interview!! happy for you but this process is so frustrating.

  8. sorry posted this in wrong place.

i talked to nvc this morning and was told that montreal schedules interviews teh 2nd week of each month for the following month. sadly, mine wasn't scheduled for feb so my cases sit around until 2nd week of feb and i hope i get a march interview date even though everything is already is done. of course, the lady couldn't tell me either roughly how many montreal does a month nor where i sit in the line of finished cases waiting an interview date. heaven forbid there by any transparency in this process for those of us waiting for way too long.

so my question stands: is there anyone with jan or feb interview dates in montreal for a IR1 visa? i'm curious as to when your cases finished at the nvc to try and get an estimate of how long out they are scheduling interviews for. from digging around through timelines it seems it's about 2 mos.

    any help is appreciated.

  9. Hello everyone!!

I realize this has probably been asked a million times, but I cant find a related topic.

My husband just got his interview scheduled in Montreal for February 28th. We are hoping to change it to an earlier date in February.

Can anyone advise us on how to do this? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

i know i don't have my own timeline as mine is very messed up and wouldn't add a lot of value to others but i'm curious of when your paperwork left the NVC for montreal for you to have an interview date of feb 28th?

mine just finished at nvc this week and i was told that it was not scheduled for feb but rather that i'll have to hope it is scheduled in the 2nd week of feb for march. (they do the scheduling the 2nd week of each month for the following month)

so just curious what your time line looks like so i can try and gauge if i will get a march or april interview.

    thanks.

  10. I know there are sticky posts on this and I've even posted before but...

I filed I864s for my spouse and kids. I got a response for my wife's that I need to prove domicile. (My kids just needed to do I864Ws as I'm a USC) This despite including the copy of my offer letter of employment which begins in Jan. Without having a lease, bank account etc is there any way to take advantage of the time I have before moving there to prove domicile and keep the process moving? Otherwise, the process stalls and I can't prove domicile until I'm actually there which isn't for almost a month from now. This entire month would go down the drain rather than reducing the time I will have to spend apart from my family.

    Thanks in advance.

  11. The embassy wants the proof of domicile not the NVC. Please see the Canada section and the pinned topic on domicile issues.

so if you make it through NVC and are assigned an interview date and then can't prove domicile does everything reset? or do they send you away until you can prove it and then you just do the interview and are done? any insight into how that would work?

  12. To immigrate to the U.S. (i.e. petitioner to bring Canadian family to U.S.) I've read you need to prove to the embassy that you have domicile in the U.S. - i.e. a job offer letter, apartment lease, both, or other.

My question is: do you need to have proof of domicile when filing the I864/AOS package to the NVC? Or can you file the I864 (and of course the accompaning DS230 package for beneficiary(ies) ) to the NVC, get an interview date AND THEN before the actual interview have a job/apartment/proof lined up? In other words, will the NVC approve and forward along to the embassy and will the embassy set an interview date without proof of domicile?

At what point must this be secured?

    Thanks.

  13. I agree with your answers except for one tiny detail. The DS-260 isn't submitted WITH the supporting documents. It's completed online and submitted on its own. The supporting documents of the IV package are then emailed (if doing EP). The DS-260 isn't included in the IV package.

So are the supporting docs sent with the I864 (is this what is referred to as the IV package?)? OR are the supporting documents emailed on their own after filling out and sending the DS260 and then the I864 is filled out/sent later w/o the docs referred to in the wiki (i.e. passport pictures, BC, marriage Certificate, etc)?

  14. Yes, you can submit everything electronically (AOS and IV packages).

But remember, you're REQUIRED to fill out and submit the DS-260, an online form, similar to the DS-230.

MissDinaDee, above, suggested a wiki that I'd also highly suggest reading as I wrote it. It'll go over everything about EP (electronic processing) and the online forms.

If you have any questions after reading it, then don't hesitate to ask me, I'll be glad to answer!

thanks for the help guys. i'll take a look.

    2 other questions:

i assume i could do the beneficiaries work and send it along and later send along the AOS (my I864) and the ds260's would just sit and wait until then? or do they HAVE to be sent at same time?

does ds260 totally replace ds230 if doing EP or do you still have to do both.

everything else i think i'm finally clear on.

  15. Montreal has been very picky about domicile in the past and I do not believe having a co-sponsor will absolve you of having to prove domicile. Have a read through the pinned thread in the Canada forum ( Proving Domicile).

If you do not provide sufficient proof at you interview your approval will be pending until you submit the evidence they require. You will not be given a visa until then and unfortunately Montreal does not have a stellar record of turn-around times in these situations. It is best to have solid evidence going into the interview. Good luck!

Oops, I just saw your post in the pinned thread in the Canada forum. You might get better feedback if you post a dedicated thread in the Canada forum. :)

thanks for the response. yeah i posted in a couple places be/c i thought the one in the pinned thread would be buried. after my fair share of reading it looks like i at least understand it though it's still an absurd process.
