So here we go:
I got approved on 11/5/2012 and the new GC arrived on 11/13/2012
PS: I'm currently back in Germany for a week, so the good news came a few days late

Biometrics appointment received: 6/1/2012
Thanks for updating!

NOA received. Dated 5.7.12
Thanks for updating the list!!

Ok, please see my timeline below.
Sent the package on May 3rd, arrived on May 5th and the check was cashed today, May 14th. That took quite a while....
My GC expires July 26th

Received my green card last Wednesday...really fast!!! The useless EAD arrived a day later. Do I need to send it back or should I just let it expire?
-
Received my "Welcome" letter today which states that I should have my green card within the next 3 weeks. I guess I will never get the EAD card (now useless anyways). Btw, since people are discussing the proof of relationship stuff, we only submitted the electric bills that I pay and the gas bills that my wife pays + about eight pictures of us together in Germany, Ethiopia, Austria and with the parents at the wedding. We don't have joint bank accounts since we don't see the benefit of it right now (which I told the guy at the interview when he asked). Guess we will switch car insurance soon since having our cars with a single provider might be cheaper ;-)

Thanks everyone!
The only weird thing is that nothing has happened with my I-765 application yet. No EAD card production ordered, no touch, nothing. The guy today seemed surprised when he asked if I was working and I replied that I don't have the authorization yet and therefore am only able to interview right now. He said I will most likely have my greencard in hand before the EAD (which then is obviously useless). Anyways, I'm very happy and looking forward to be able to travel back to Germany for Christmas!!
Next step: getting a nice job!

Had our interview appointment this morning. They first questioned my wife, then myself. The whole thing was super relaxed and lasted for maybe 10 minutes. At the end the interviewer told me that he will approve our application right away and that I should have my greencard in hand no later than late August. Does anyone know how long it usually takes?

Congrats chrissen!!!! Wow, you have the fastest timeline of any of us May filers so far!
7/24 with interviews...
Thanks! Still not fast enough and the whole process could cost me a good job. Oh well, we'll see what happens...

Just got my interview date for July 26th. I am currently interviewing with a few companies and was wondering if a job offer would be a good reason to call USCIS and ask for an expedite on the EAD?

Hey everyone,
I am new to the forum, but it has already provided me with a lot of valuable information!
Here are my questions:
1. My I485 status says "request for evidence" and it reads "On June 2, 2010, we received your response to our request for evidence."
I am pretty sure I didn't send any "response" after my initial filling in May. Anyone know what that means?
2. My I765 status is still at "Initial Review" even though it was sent together with the I485. Is that normal?
3. I successfully completed my biometrics today. I just walked in 20 days before my actual appointment. Will that help speed up the process?
4. I read some things about volunteer work being OK while you wait for your EAD. Would it also be OK to start a (unpaid) training with the company that will eventually hire you after you receive the EAD?
Many thanks in advance for any helpful responses!

Thanks!
Would have been nice to get it a few days earlier for my trip. Now the expired GC and the letter will have to do on the way back. But I'm not complaining; it's good to be done with this!
