  1. Hello,

My wife filed for removal of condition application in mid Nov, 2012. We received a confirmation letter and that where it gets interesting.

We received a letter in early December to appear to a local ASC center for biometrics (Hicksville, NY). Much to our surprise the appointment was for Dec 24th, Christmas eve day, when half the country is either off or out of office early. Anyway, we show up at the service center (nearly an hour drive each way) and sure enough the office is closed. There's no number posted and all it said was to either reschedule and appointment using the address on appointment letter or come back to ASC in next 87 days. We had specifically planned my wife and son's trip to motherland around this appointment. Anyway, we went back on Dec 26th and they actually did the biometrics on all digits without any issue. In the end we received a stamp on the appointment letter confirming that our fingerprinting is done. My wife and son fly out the very next day as planned.

Now yesterday, we received a letter to show up on the same ASC on January 25th. The letter is dated Dec 28th, 2012 mailed from VT service center. What we don't know is whether this is a duplicate appointment they might have sent because office was closed on original appointment day or they actually need some more information. This is a big problem because my wife wasn't planning to come back until March; She had some family obligations and it is going to be her last trip back for a while. She called the National Service Center but wouldn't tell her anything and simply say that we have to go there or reschedule appointment. There's no direct number for ASC and I'm sure they won't let me in because the appointment is in wife's name.

Has anyone gone through this? What would you recommend? The last thing we can afford to do is cut a trip short and fly back urgently (this would cost us nearly $2k).

    Thanks much!

  2. I'm a US citizen and sponsoring my wife who lives in Pakistan. Her interview was in Islamabad on Nov 5, 2010.

At the interview handed us a blue slip and requested a missing document. The interviewer herself assured my wife that her visa is approved and as soon as we send the document the visa will be mailed back (The official said it in very certain terms so there's no doubt that we misheard). We sent the document back on Nov, 8th. They even confirmed the receipt of the document but we still have not received any update. It is very difficult to get a hold of someone over the phone. An email reply was that they're "reviewing the document". It been almost 6 weeks since the interview. Anyone else had similar experience? It's doubly frustrating when without asking they told visa will be mailed back ASAP. Could they have put our case in AP? I'm have hard time consoling my wife over this. So f'ed up.
