  1. Congratulations, Tumbleweed!

Jessa, according to John the interview was a breeze, though he did a lot of sitting around and waiting. He was asked how we met, whether I had met his parents, whether they were coming to the wedding, when he was flying back, then he was told it was approved and he was sent to see the courier. I might put up a summary for the reviews in a while. :-)

  2. I'm too wound up to sleep right now. In a few hours my love is going to the embassy for his interview. A few hours after that, he will phone me to tell me how it went. It's just amazing to me - all these months of waiting and planning, the research, the IM chats, the e-mails, the increasingly frequent phone calls - this process we started in January is coming to a head and I'm feeling a little sick to my stomach with nerves about it.

At the same time, I'm letting myself be a little hopeful. These visas are rarely denied, from what I've heard. I'm just fretting that we'll be one of those rare denials. Then what? We appeal? We further investigate my going to him? Because a life without him in it is not an option. We're too much a part of one another now and this time apart has only made us more determined.

Gah! How do you people even sleep when something momentous, something that will affect the rest of your lives together is about to occur across the ocean within a few short hours?

    Thanks for listening.

  3. Hello, another person waiting between NOA2 and the interview chiming in. :-)

My fiance just today got his letter with an interview date: September 13. So far things are going pretty smoothly, his medical a few weeks ago went fine although he had to have a letter sent from his GP regarding treatment for depression some years ago. I was also nervous about the timing of my job going permanent - to back up my I-134 I sent a letter from my employer hiring me on, a copy of my contract, a letter explaining the contract-to-hire process in my case, my pay stubs from the last month of checks with the temp agency, and my last tax statement. I will also e-mail scans of my newest pay stubs as soon as I get my next paycheck on Friday. I'm probably not worried enough, but I think that should cover it - I earn enough salary, it's just a little odd with the contract-to-hire thing. I need to do a search on the number he will need to call in order to pre-pay for the visa, apparently it wasn't in the letter (I assumed it would be stated somewhere in the letter).

    Wishing everyone luck!

  4. Thank you all.

I feel like I owe quite a debt of gratitude to this site. I've been doing most of my research of the visa process here (it certainly helped me to put together a very well-organized petition packet) and I will continue to use it through my fiance's arrival and eventual progress to US citizenship. Plus lurking on the boards has been very helpful as far as giving me more of an idea of what other people's experiences are like - I feel a lot less alone, for one thing. Thanks again! :)

  5. If this would be more appropriate in another section, please feel free to move it. :-) Ahem.

It probably doesn't mean anything yet, but I've noticed Vermont has really been cranking out those NOA2s lately and our estimated approval date has been creeping closer and closer. I wish I were more at ease about it, but I'm finding that I'm more nervous and worried than excited. Not about him, of course, although I do worry a little about how hard it might be for him to adjust once he moves here.

I had been out of work for the last couple of years for grad school, then I quit my degree program and moved back home in January. So I have no income to report for part of 2009 and all of 2010. I managed to get a good, well-paying job that I like almost a month ago, and going on that income I do exceed the requirement for the I-134. What I am most worried about is whether that will be good enough for the London embassy. See, I am employed on a "contract to perm" basis. I am working as a temp employee for 90 days and at that point I will be hired on permanently (and quite likely get a nice raise). I have no doubt that this company will hire me. I will have pay stubs to submit, but I don't know what I could submit as a "letter of hire" just yet, as I won't have that officially until sometime in late July. I guess what I'm freaking out about is how fast Vermont is going - I'm afraid that we'll get a NOA2 before I'm ready to properly demonstrate my ability to support my fiance.

So any ideas? Would several weeks' worth of pay stubs and a nice letter from my prospective permanent boss suffice if Vermont were to approve me before I go permanent? I've considered asking my mother to co-sponsor, but I'm worried that she won't agree. It's complicated - she can definitely afford it, but she keeps going on about how much better I can do, etc., and I'd rather not involve her if I can help it. I'll ask her if that's what it will take, though. She will agree, but I'll never hear the end of it. :-P

Thanks for the vent space. I did a quick search and didn't see anything quite like my situation (temp work). :-)

  6. Hi everyone!

I'm a Texan engaged to a man who lives in Stafford, UK, and I've been lurking here off and on for some months now. We really just started the process rolling: I filed our I-129F petition a few weeks ago, got our NOA1 about a week later and found out our case got sent off to Vermont (cue "Psycho" shower music). From what I've read here it looks like we're going to just sit and wait for a nice long while. Ah well, it can't be helped. Besides, this gives me a chance to get my act together before the next step. I had been living in New York for grad school until about a month ago and it will take me some time to get gainfully employed again. :)

Anyway, I've found the info on this site to be very useful and reassuring, and I just wanted to say thanks to all of you nice contributors for it. :star:

    Cheers!
