  1. I applied for a tourist visa for my mother in law last summer it was approved and she spent the summer with us. Did not overstay everything is aboveboard. Her visa was good for one year we want to bring her again this summer but the visa will expire while she is here for the summer.

Question is do I reapply for a new visa before she comes even though hers is not expired yet or do I take her to the embassy while she is here and get an extension.

    What makes most sense.

  2. I need to file my 2010 taxes and have some questions. This will be my first filed return after she has arived in the US. I have two step kids that I also sponsored and will claim them as dependents.

    1. I need to file married filing seperate due to the fact that I will have a tax liability and dont want my wife to be attached to this liability.

    2. My wife did not work in 2010 in the US so she does not need to file any returns.

Question is will this be a problem when we need to remove conditions because we did not file joint.

    Any thoughts on this?

  3. IF the Kid was never recognize? No Father name on BC . No way to find that person .Will this be a Problem ? My wife kid call me Dad and i see her as my baby girl . Im even planing on adopt the child ones in the US because right now im working on her MOM and hers I 130's That I send Together and are in the CSC from 10/10.

I hope that will not be a problem I know that in Colombia they are extrict on the child leaving the country

    ANy info from the experts?

If the father is not listed on the birth certificate you do not need a letter from him for the child to travel or to obtain a visa. You do however need to list the father on all applications were needed. If you do not know the current address of the father state (unkown) but include all information you do know.

  4. Here is the format for the letter. I hope this helps. This is the letter I used and it was perfect for the USEM. I would also get a copy of the fathers ID card for your files.

    (fathers name)

    (fathers address)

    (fathers ID#)

    (fathers phone#)

I (the father name) am the biologocal father of (childs name) born on (DOB)(ID#). (childs name) presently, and to my knowledgs has always resided with his biological mother and primary caretaker (mother name) born on (DOB)(ID#).

(Childs Name) and (mothers name) currently reside at (home address)(phone number).

I (fathers name0 herby give permission and convey all rights and authority to (mothers name), the mother of (childs name) to relocate the child PERMANENTLY to the United States Of America.

I acknowledge that (mothers name) has no outstanding obligations to me.

This permission is granted for the purpose of obtaining a visa to the United States Of America for PERMANENT relocation and residency and for all travel to and from (childs country) and the United Staes Of America until such time the child is of legal age to travel without the need for this permission.

    (fathers signature)

    (Notarized)

  5. Thanks nix & lai,

Yes CFO and Ticket. The ticket has already been paid for because I got it for her with plans that she would be traveling Dec 1. Now she need to go and get the departure date changed. I told her to make it to fit her schedule because I am sure she will suddenly have lots to do. :bonk:

Well in reality she still needs her VISA Package because I dont think its been delivered to her yet. I received notification of the approval through the Senators office here in Tennessee and not the Embassy. Funny how the Embassy would tell them but not me don't you think... So much for Government service.

Are you in the USA now? Enjoy your Christmas where ever you may be. I Hope to be with Annie but lets see.

    Tom about time...CONGRATS!!!

  6. Spoke to a lady at the Senators office today who deals with VISA stuff. She was nice but started giving me lines about how many people they have to service yada, yada, yada. I told her I understand all that and am not upset with her but all of this is BS from where I am standing. The USCIS alone has 18,000 employees and that's not counting the contract workers they us. They dont fill out much paperwork as we put it all together they do reviews.

I with her everything that has happened including my wife's not having the NSO Doc during the interview. She told me that the Embassy puts everyone's file in a complete pile when our documents are all in and if we didn't have all our documents in then we went back to the bottom of the pile. That's is what was explained to her. Wow that sounds fair to me. I made a comment about how I wished the IRS worked that way. She said the IRS has a different system. I said yes they do they have one that works. I stated that citizens should be treated better and this process is broken. I have waited quietly for 9 1/2 months and enough is enough. She told me this was not so bad because other have been waiting 2 yrs. I said you cant say that. First you wait for something 9 1/2 months that's important to you, complete paperwork, pay fees and be corresponded to 3 times in the process then tell me its not so bad or is not long. I told her I recently had to pass on a Great job at a National Laboratory outside of Chicago because of my knowing nothing about when my wife would be allowed to enter the USA. This has put is a hardship on me that didn't need to happen. Employment must be important to the Government because they ask for AOS and they put lots of emphasis on that information.

She ask me to call her back when 4 week have passed from the date the embassy had all our papers. I told her all our papers has been in to the Embassy since Nov 5. That is according to the Embassy call center and the Embassy and I forwarded the email to her. I then ask her, So now from what your telling me the Embassy may or may not have told us what other documents might be missing and if they find more paperwork missing then I am back to the bottom of the pile again. What kind of fairness is this. Our paperwork was reviewed by two other Government Departments. She said she really cant do anything but for me to send in my information to her and she can put in a inquiry as to our status. Then she tells me she is working with 200 other people. Poor over worked Government Employees. I should have told her oh that's not bad, there are others who are working with thousands. somehow I don't think she would get the joke.

She was friendly and did understand my frustration and our conversation was pleasant but we did see things differently but she understood and really has no play in all of this. I am just looking for help and thats what they are their for. At least thats what they say when they are running for office.

So then I go on to the Embassy site to find out who I could contact and express my frustration with about this whole process, I found the below statement on the US Embassy web site. Being a curious type I clicked on the English Version...

We are here to serve you according to the laws of the United States of America. We are committed to customer service.

    Customer Service Statement:

    English Version

    Tagalog Version

I clicked on the English Version and there was nothing there which seemed appropriate.... This is at least telling the truth for a change. I guess everyone in the State Department is working on Wikileaks... Exposed... :bonk:

Sorry for rambling but it make me feel better and get into the Christmas Spirit...

Tom how you doing. I was hoping to log on and see you were finished with this problem. Hope it gets rectified soon.
