  1. Congrats to all. D G my interview is July 19....I hope I will be able to post that same "approval" word at that time! All the best as you start your new life together!!! CONGRATS again!!!!

Thanks, MaryLan! Not sure if you've noticed, but we have very similar timelines. We've been about a week apart throughout this entire journey! I am sure you will be able to post "Approved" on July 19

I think if you have all of your paperwork in order, you will be fine. They did not ask my husband for any additional evidence (so the nicely-tabbed, 200+ page binder that I created remained in his bag). He said there were alot of 'blue slips' given . . . mainly for needing an updated police certificate. But thanks to you, and the post you made a little while back, we were prepared!

Best of luck on your intervew next week and thanks again!

  2. Thanks so much!

I am working on more paperwork now before I leave for work. I think we will be over-prepared, but after that K1 experience last year... we aren't taking any chances!

Of course that CO last year didn't even look at anything he took in, just decided I was too old for him.

But I have stacks of pics and all our chat logs from almost 2 years, phone bills, ticket stubs, trip receipts, etc. And I will make them look at all of it if I have to!

    That's right, Ally!

Everything will be fine this time around. We are praying for you & Moh and praying for PINK!

  3. Completely agree with you that is should be waived, Wishful thinking is great, unfortunately we can't make it a reality! I just see many screw ups coming out of this new requirement, since they obviously haven't notified people.

Exactly! I am so thankful to MaryLan&Na for posting the information. I informed my husband last night that he would have to make a THIRD trip to Kingston (from MoBay) to obtain another certificate, although the one he has is less than one month old! He is very easy going, so he did not make a big deal of it. I, on the other hand, fussed for 30 minutes of our 35 minute conversation.

  4. LOL, D&G, we are talking about Jamaica here, and it's the US embassy v. the Jamaican police - they aren't going to pass up the opportunity to make more money by giving away free police reports!

Sorry, Bajan - but I would look at this as a semi approval, not an issue - Is there someone you can get as a joint sponsor?

Oh, I know they aren't going to give free police reports, I was simply stating the right/fair thing to do is to waive the additional fee charged for receiving the certificate the same day. But you're 100% correct, they're not going to pass up the opportunity to make more money. I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part :innocent:

  5. This process tests your patience, faith, and commitment. Hang in there . . . your journey will come to a 'positive' end soon!

Question: Were you able to get the police certificate the same day, or are you required to return in three days?

One would think since they made this last minute change, they would excuse the three day waiting period and allow people to get their certificates the same day, WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY ADDITIONAL FEES.

  6. Finally the NVC has forwarded our case to Islamabad embassy on June 3rd according to the AVR which has updated this morning. So I guess I can use EXP 02 JUN 2010A as my reference point for tracking the package in DHL website. I do see one packet going out under this referece which was shipped on June 3rd, which could be mine. Am I correct?

Or should I use EXP 03 JUN 2010A as my reference point ?

    :thumbs::dance::yes::lol::dance:

The AVR states the same regarding my case. I used EXP 02 JUN 2010A and came across one case that was forwarded to Kingston . . . I assumed it was mine :star:

More than likely, that's your case!!!!

  7. Goodmorning people, We have a question for you all, what is the packet 3, and what do we have to do with it, we are hoping to get the CR-1 visa soon so I can be with my wife. I know its part of the Consulate process, any commemnt will be much appreciated. Thank you all and God bless!!!!:yes:

According to your timeline, you're finished with packet 3 -- it's the IV Application (DS 230). Packet 4 is the interview letter.

  8. Hi,

at the point 25 it asks whether the sponsor has filed taxes in the last three years. My wife filed taxes only in 3 years ago but not in the last two years since she was a student. Should we tick that anyway?

    thanks!

If I understand correctly, you're saying that your wife filed taxes in 2007 but not 2008 and 2009? Is that is the case, you should not check the box.

Question 25 states: I have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years. I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for only themost recent tax year.

This would not apply to your wife since she did not file taxes in 2008 and 2009.

However, I would still include copies (or transcripts) of the year she filed.

    Hope this helps.

  9. The guides are not very clear on the steps to take after the petition has been approved and it's at the NVC stage. I am filing the I-130 for my stepchildren. I've been trying to follow the information in the James's Shortcuts, but because everything was done online, a lot of the information is not relevant.

I believe that this is what I need to do, if anyone has any corrections or suggestions, please let me know.

We have already done the Choice of Agent, which is me, the petitioner. I will be sending in

    1. DS-230 signed by my husband as the father. I contacted NVC and was told this is okay.

    2. original marriage certificate for me and my husband

    3. original birth certificate for each child

    4. passport biographic pages for each child

They are both under 14 so they don't need the police info or the other stuff. Is there anything that I'm forgetting or overlooking?

Just thought of a stumbling block. There are two visa packages but only one marriage certificate. Any suggestions on how to fix that? Do you think it is okay to send in both packages together?

Don't forget the passport size photos (2 per child).

  10. Anyone think we will see any interview dates this week (with the exception of Monday)? I remember an operator saying something a bit strange to me about when dates are given out... she actually said the dates could come any time if the embassies are bored (her words) and call and request appointments. But I wonder if that is true... you know how many stories they give us... LOL!

Happy Belated Birthday! Hope your wish for an interview date comes true . . . SOON!

  11. Greetings All!

I have been an "unofficial" member of VJ (observing from the sidelines) since January. I was so encouraged/inspired by the posts in the MAY INTERVIEWS FORUM, I decided to "officially" join.

We were able to get through the process (NOA 1 to Interview Date) in 154 days :D thanks, in part, to the information found here on VJ!

My husband's interview is July 13th!!!!!

Go luck to you all on your journeys!
