  1. Hi folks,

Ive booked my flight to Tampa but now have another couple of daft questions.

    1. Do I have to inform anyone of my impending arrival?

    2. Do you join the same queue in the states that you would on a tourist visa?

    Many Thanks again.

    Ally.

    1. Don't forget to let your partner know so they can pick you up! :)

    2. When I got to the POE I approached a member of staff near the border patrol lines, showed them my brown envelope and told them I was a new immigrant. They then directed me where to go ( I think it was the non US citizen line) then when I got to the CBP officer he looked at my stuff and got someone else to collect me for the other formalities. Didn't take long at all. Good luck!

  2. Well my sons and I finally arrived in the USA on Thursday. I cant believe the journey is over at last. The waiting and paperwork stuff is awful, but there IS light at the end of the tunnel, and the minute you get into your darlings arms and dont have to leave is just awesome!

Very many congrats to all those who are nearly at the end of their visa journey, hang in there, and thank you for all the support from fellow VJ'ers.

Take care all of you xxx

  3. I'm sorry Joydee, but your post, although perfectly valid, did make me chuckle.

I have my interview tomorrow and I never thought about them asking me that, although I know it has happened to other VJ'ers! Obviously if it did come up (so to speak!) the truth is always the best policy with immigration officers, and I'm sure there are limits as to what they can ask. Dont worry about it, you'll be fine. x :star:

  4. Hi All

I know I am probably being a bit dumb here, but I am a little confused about something needed for my CR-1/IR-1 interview on 15th March.

It says that I am supposed to take 2 US sized passport photos for me and my children, but on the interview appointment email (packet 4) it says that I dont need to take documents which have already been submitted to NVC, it has a document status list, and against Photos it says Y, which means 'The required document has been received'.

So...do I need to take another 2 passport photos along to the interview for me and my sons (which would be £36 to get them done again) or do the Embassy use the ones that were already submitted to NVC. It also says about taking original docs, and then says they have been received also. Why cant they spell it out for me lol??

Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm stressing!

  5. Hi Mr.Florida

Firstly I think its very mean of Ontarkie to call you a jerk. Being pregnant isnt an excuse for being rude and its VERY rude to insult someone who has come on VJ with real distress and anxiety and call them a personal name. People post on here to get advice and other peoples opinions, not be made to feel small.

Anyway, Mr. Florida, I think Valentine's Day was the one of the final straws here. I know when you are far apart from your loved one things like that assume an enormous significance, and I can understand you being miffed with the situation. But I also think it was a little over the top to say about pulling the plug on the visa because of it. I dont know how old you both are, but you sound quite young, and that can make the whole thing harder to deal with emotionally.

Your gf seems to be very swayed by her parents, and I really think they have been working on her to end the relationship because of the selfish reason that they dont want to lose her. Sadly parents dont always accept the fact their children have their own lives and should be able to live them.

i dont think it was wrong of you not to rush to India when she was hospitalised, its not as if its round the corner from America or cheap to get to.

I think you should maybe be glad that this has happened now and not when you are married, take some time out and look after yourself.

Best wishes for the future. x

  6. Happened to us too....our lawyers have been rubbish from start to (almost) finish. We got wrong forms at first which set us back a month, then an RFE at USCIS and one from NVC. This was NOT down to anything my husband and I had omitted, but purely mistakes on the lawyers part. All in all it has cost us over $4000 and set us back around 3 months. They haven't told me any info about the medical which I found out about on here, or given me any advice other than fill in forms incorrectly which we have had to proof read and return. So basically we have done their job anyway. I am really angry, and we are going to contact the local Bar Association, but I also know a lawyer never wants to sue another lawyer so I dont expect to get any compensation or refund.

My sincere advice to any newbies is to rely on the excellent VJ members, and unless your case needs special consideration, do it all yourselves.

    Good luck x

  7. Just got thru to an operator and we have an interview date !!  It is scheduled for March 24th. The operator said it was just scheduled today and that we should be getting an email shortly with instructions. It pays to call and talk to an operator!! The AVR still says that the case was completed on 2/7 and to wait 6-8 weeks. We're almost done!! :dancing:

    Awesome! Well done

Interview date: March 24th, 2011 at 6:45 AM. :) Thank you God for granting it to me after all the bumps. I know it's not over yet but it feels so good that it's getting nearer. Thank you also guys for being there. And to those who are still waiting, God speed to all of you. :)

    Whoop whoop! Congrats Angeli!

  8. WOO HOO !!!! I just got off phone with NVC , CASE COMPLETE !!!! yessss. I double checked and I got SIF too. Thank God, I thought I was going to have to redo the whole thing. Aparently after my call yesterday and I emailed them the Post Office Tracking info , my IV package surfaced and they processed it today. The man told me It was complete and I should be getting the interview date in a week to 10 days.
