My only issue with the whole immigration process is.....

1. me a us citizen has to wait almost a year to bring my wife to usa.

2. my wife's cousin got married one week after our marriage to a guy who has a job visa is usa.... and he got to bring her here in 2 or 3 weeeks.. :bonk: :bonk: thats UNACCEPTABLE..... :bonk: :bonk:

I agree he probably had to pay more..but then they should atleast have an option for usc's to pay more and bring our loved ones here in few weeks...

We are getting really frustrated and anxious.

The NVC sent our case to the embassy in London on December 17, 2010, and three months later the Embassy still does not have our case on file. My fiance finally got through on the phone after 5 days of trying and they told him not to panic and gave him the email code. They replied to our email stating they do not have our case on file. Well thanks, the woman on the phone told him that!

Would we be correct in assuming our case is lost? And if it is does anyone have any advice on what we should do next?

Sorry to hear that....i dont have any advice...but i have been thinking about such a scenario..ever since fedex lost my package to nvc......hope they have a easy solution..keep us posted.... Gooluck

FEEDEX is safe and thers assurace that all the documents u will send will recieve to ur fiance in the philippines..its so fast it takes only 3 to 4days,it depends where ur fiance live in the philippines,,and FEEDEX is door to door delevery.........

from my personal experience... last month fedex lost my package on its way from india to nvc.. the package contained original birth certificate... marriage certificate from church and govt. :bonk: :bonk: ....soo not saying dont use it.....just saying no guarantees in shipments .. ofcourse since then i only use ups and dhl

It's sad but out of millions and millions of documents it happens from time to time. I don't like to hear the occasional traveler scream about a 15 minute delay but I tolerate it. When you become perfect please call Fed Ex and complain. It happens to all humans.

Well I'm not screaming at fedex anymore, cause over last 10 or so days I sort of realized they were not going to find it. But ya, I will be scared to use them again, actually will try my best not to use them again.

@LisaMarie ...yea it was more expensive to use fedex..I just thought they be more reliable oh well .. stuff hapens...now its not the financial aspect but the time to get the docs again and sending it to NVC which worries me.

Just got off phone with fedex. here is my story

i got an rfe at nvc, they wanted original birth and marriage certificates. I asked my wife to send it via fedex (from india)

it was sent on february 7th and was supposed to be delivered on february 10th, it reached Memphis, TN the international hub of fedex on february 9th, but was not delivered on 10th. I called they said they are having some snow issues.

I called the next day, they said it was with customs. It was just a fedex envelope with 2 docs I knew it couldnt take so long, i was calling few times a day, finally on 12th, after like 15 calls, one agent said they have not had a physical scan of my package.

They started a trace on I called pretty much few times a day for last couple weeks, they did a trace on it. They had a trace agent working on it, and no one got back to me till yesterday, and they said they completed the trace they cant find it, I should file for claims to get the money back . I cant believe the level of incompetence, they lost the damn originals. so ya thanks fedex

You are exactly wrong.

A shutdown would occur if there were no budget passed. Obama is saying he will veto the budget that is proposed from the House; therefore resulting in a shutdown. Of course, we're not at that point now, but it won't hurt for people to pay attention to what's going on.

they dont have to pass a new budget, they can just agree to run the govt for next 3 months based on the last passed budget, basically an extension for the budget, and then govt runs fine till that date arrives.

and yes even though uscis/nvc are self funded they still need the federal budget to run. For instance even if they receive a billion dollars in fees, if their budget to run is a few million dollars the federal govt has to approve it, they cant dig into their billion dollars. Hence govt shut down will cease all uscis/nvc activity.

basically hopefully everything goes fine....or we all have a loooong wait

some updates... to my case.....those who didn't know I got an rfe asking for original birth and marriage certificates....

my wife got to fedex them to me from India... on Monday...I thought fedex might be better..and it was supposed to get to NVC on Thursday, even though fedex said it might get there on Wednesday they said due to customs it will probably be Thursday.... everything seemed fine. On Wednesday morning 9:30 am it reached Memphis, TN fedex hub. Since then no updates... I tried calling they said its with customs. and from then on every time i call I got different message. Some said there was a snow storm, some said its with customs. Finally last person I talked to said, they think the packet is gone missing, cause they never had a physical scan of the package after it arrived Memphis.

How can you miss a package ???? i have no words to express my frustration. So i spoke to someone now.. and they said, they are searching and it takes 3 business days to search, so check back on next Wednesday, or wait for it to show up..

I cant imagine the hassle of getting another marriage certificate and not to mention sending it to USA again.

Ugh, that does suck. In a process like this one, every day counts! Good luck, I hope it's resolved quickly!

Unfortunately my case will be on hold for a lil while now... my wife is out of town for a family wedding and wont return till late next week.. and then she has to send the docs.. only if i had gotten the RFE last week .. oh well goodluck to all of u guys.

@saylin I talked to the operator they want to see the originals no way around it. oh well .. hopefully they will return all originals at the time of interview

Quick question: emailed a scanned copy of the choice of agent form to NVC this past Sunday...on Monday, our AOS payment cleared as 'PAID.' Do I need to wait for the NVC to send me the AOS documents? Is there anywhere I can go to get clarification?

once aos is paid..you can send in your aos packet.. you dont have to wait for nvc to send any docs.

AT LAST!! Went on NVC website and got SIF for my childrens cases which means all our cases can move forward to receiving an interview date! Dont know if it was hubby's call to his senator's office that did it, but I am so thankful that at last we are one step nearer. Good luck to everyone else as well. :dance:

I sent my I-130 and it was received, I honestly didn't send to many evidence but about 5 pictures of me and my wife. After reading here, I came to learn that it's better to frond-load.

My question now:

Is it too late to front-load, or I can still have a chance to send more evidence.

Could it be?? A SIF after midnight?? I've been going crazy, waiting for an update, checking the website several times a day...usually I give up after a certain point in the evening, thinking they won't update anything else until the next day...tonite I was going so crazy and I was wondering if perhaps the website may refresh after midnite eastern time...I know...grasping at straws, but I was up, so what the heck....and guess what?? I got the coveted red box!!!!! I tried three times on two computers...same result...SIF SIF!!

Yes, we have spoken to a real person, he said wait 14-20 days... oh my That's too long! Reminds me of USCIS... I hope maybe because it was holidays and they were closed because of weather, so that's why it is late.

Ya it sux, but be patient call everyday and talk to the operator to find out. My case is still not entered into the AVR system. Good luck
